"No more juicy whoppers here." I got news for you Dan, you might want to check the toilet. I'm pretty sure there has to be at least one juicy whopper in there.
THX-0381 regardless of you trying too hard... it still made for me chuckling out loud!! That movie was all the shiz back when I was a wee adolescent... I’m 35 now... I truly need to revisit that movie!!
The superfluous quantity of dirty rooms in FL are due to the lack of regulations; it's essentially an "anything goes" state. As a Florida resident I'm so ridiculously excited to see where you guys went. I wish you had done a meetup!!!
Like others have stated, this was not a BK, it was a Carl's Jr. You can see it on the wall, the fry carton. Also, the burger pictured is not a Whopper.
Actually, it is called Hardee's on the east coast; same restaurant, though. And yes, I have also seen that burger by the cash register at other Hardee's locations in the Carolinas
I think that's a Carl's Jr. because at 2:45, that face on the french fries container is from the mascot of Carl's Jr. Type "Carl's Jr" and you'll see the logo with the same mascot's face.
There's a special kind of melancholy seeing shuttered/abandoned eateries like these. I can't help but imagine the place during its prime, picturing myself sitting in one of the booths.
The Florida trip should be fun. I stayed at a Travelodge on Pensacola Island that was sketchy. The shower sounded like it was screaming at me, the carpet was *soaked* even on the top floor, the elevator shuddered and screeched. Tons of fun, really.
I live in a small town in Iowa that used to have a Hardee's. It closed in 2006, and the building still stands abandoned to this day, although as far as I can tell whoever is maintaining the land has been doing a good job of keeping it locked up. If indeed this one closed around the same time as another commenter mentioned, it makes me wonder if the company was going through financial difficulties at that time. At the time, I just assumed the Hardee's here closed because a McDonald's opened a year before only one block away,.
Ha, you could make an episode of how South Of The Border is a dead amusement park. Don't forget former Fed Chair Ben Shalom Bernanke got a job there as a youth and the place is a shadow of what it once used to be, symbolic of the American economy today.
Love the title LOL. 😄 One of the things I love about watching abandoned is new abandoned. This is the first fast food outlet I’ve seen. The live stream is a nice alternative to watch too and it works well, despite the quality not being as good. A horrid find! Cool.
Do you know why they went to Dillon, SC to elope? It's because way back in the day, younger adults that wanted to get married were prohibited in most other states. South Carolina was a very lenient state on the age restriction of marriage. So with Dillon being the first town on the South Carolina border off I-95, it got the reputation for the quickest drive to get married if you were from Virginia or North Carolina. I worked in the area for many years and the locals told me all about its history.
Holy crap. I used to work right down the road from that building. That area has a lot of delapidated buildings in that area near the border between NC and SC. So wierd to finally see a video near me. 😁
According to that Scream Factory! Dan Bell! I remind you that it similar to Session 9 for 2001 film! Kinda horror film to me, mystery and thriller to me!
It's so weird to see this kind of fast food places abandoned, I mean I always get used to watch abandoned hospitals, houses, etc. I liked the video tho :) ps sorry my bad english. Greetings from Argentina
Very, very interesting! Will definitely check this place out if I'm ever in that neck of the woods! A great video, but you missed seeing one of NC's best abandoned explorations by just a few weeks....The Family Inns Of America motel at Rowland, NC (literally walking distance from where you were!) There was a lot of shady shit that went down at that place, and the central owner of the motel chain was a real sleazebag. That particular motel has been closed since about '01, and after no less than a half dozen attempts to raze it, they finally did, not long before you came down. That place was a gold mine.
I know that hotel district well in Rowland. One of the few family run motels that charge by the hour. I worked near that area for many years. Really depressed on both sides of the border there.
Hi Dan, just wanted to say that my daughter and I enjoy your videos. We recently visited my parents, which is pretty close to this location. It was pretty cool to know that you and Jake were at a place I visited during my childhood
We're on the road you guys should try to look for an abandoned McDonald's . Down here where I live we have a Burger King but it still alive and well and we also have McDonald's but yeah I do find it strange to see fast food restaurants abandoned being that they're so popular.
That's Hardee's. It wouldn't be Carl's Jr. cause they are the Western US version of Hardee's. This place is not in Dillon, SC but in Rowland NC. Just north of the border from South of the Border.
Good video. Interesting. Although I think it was a Carl's Jr. At the 2:44 point, when you looked at the giant hamburger wallpaper on the wall corner near the cashiers, on the lower left hand side you can see half of the Carl's Jr. star on the wall next to the hamburger.
I'm pretty sure that is a Hardee's. The town I grew up in had one just like this one (it was a Hardees), and was long abandoned due to legal troubles after kids were using it more as a place to deal drugs rather than a restaurant. :(
Abandoned Waffle House soft drinks, South of the Border bumper stickers, and a box of Trojans??? Someone must of had a Big Bang in that place?? So Romantic!! So Romantic!! LOL
Abandoned BK lounge ? I didn't think that would exist.....a former franchisee ? Can't imagine the Corporation allowing a company property to sit like this. That place has been abandoned at least 3 or 4 years
Oh wow......Dan Bell and his co-worker from Bright Sun Films had flimed an abandoned Burger King of what was a fast-food resturant somewhere in a dystopn BK. I'm surprised that you hadn't found any expired "food" in there. *For extra effect* try doing that at night! It'd would've far more scarier for both of them to explore what once had been a thriving Burger King resturant. When you had said "Hello, Welcome to Burger King;may I take your order?" I nearly had to laugh so hard, that I had choked! Anyway,it had been weird that an abandoned BK still had one of their company photos antique-thing;that *still* had been on a wall. That had been a *dead* giveaway for us people. (rim shot. good-naturedly) That still eat at BK. Dated November 12,2019. Bet you that had been eerie.
This Hardee's is across the intersection. People don't stop at the dive "South of the Border" attraction in Dillon, SC, much anymore. But the movie "Forces of Nature" (1999) with Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck had some hotel scenes etc. filmed there, others in Beaufort, SC.
A Burger King would NEVER be abandoned in Ireland because chains must source Irish beef. There are plenty of McDonalds', so the few BKs around are vastly superior. Triple Whopper or XL Bacon Double Cheese kicks anything on McD's menu.
Better than the Burger King in Dix NE. Right off I-80, to the South, used to be a rather new Store. They knocked it down and put a working Missile Silo there.
