It always amazes me that such a place where so much work/money was invested, just left to be slowly destroyed. I would've thought it could have been put to use by someone somewhere, and to just walk away and leave so much equipment behind wow.
Sanatoriums lost favor in western democracies beginning in the late 1970s but it really excelerated in the 1980s.by the 1990s, they fell completely out of favor. In California there were at least 12 quite large facilities for developmentally delayed, mental health patients, and those with dual diagnoses. Sanatoriums weren't hospitals in the strictest sense although doctors, nurses, and orderies worked there. By moderen standards, some were akin to horror movies: overuse of debilitating drugs, electroshock treatments, and lobotomies were not uncommon treatments. I was on one facility's human rights committee for two years, 1986 until it closed. I'm not familiar with the German facility but the Third Reich established quite a few sanatoriums. If this was one, it have a reputation that people in the area just want to forget. Many of the California facilities were simply torn down, and the memory erased.
What a lovely pair of intelligent young Ladies to guide us round this amazing former Military Hospital. Thank you Vanessa and Lisa. You make a Formidable Duo. 🌹🌹
Nice view into the lost places, Good to be safe with a friend along ! two is better than one. have a great day to the both of you and those watching! Ceramic tile was the word for the white rectangles on the wall
There is probably a lot of asbestos on the old heating boilers and hot water pipes so you probably want to wear a mask . Plus lead in the old peeling paint so good thing you don't crawl around in there too much and stir up the dust. I am sure it was fun to explore that old abandoned place. Thanks for taking us on the tour.
Good job meine liebe, Vanessa. It's sad that the state government gave this to the city without giving them the money to maintain it. But the same thing happens here's in the U.S. Only a very large city could maintain such a hospital. It was just too much. Such a complex would have been torn down only after a few years of vacancy here in the U.S. Americans are a very "impatient" people. Life goes on! Thank YOU and LISA for the tour!
Lots of seemingly endless hallways! I did see a beautifully done stairway - high quality construction. A lot of very valuable wooden beams in sizes no longer available. An amazing amount of grafitti. Loved that still working scale. What a huge place. Thanks Vanessa and Lisa for a cool video. Note: Viel zu viele Werbespots!
Hi its nice to see Lisa in the video today Vanessa , the old hospital is massive and I'm amazed to find that someone could not put it into some other use , the stone art on the wall is called tiles (Fliesen) , the room with wood on the wall called be a library (Bibliothek) , it looks like you and Lisa had a good time , you didn't meet any Nazi ghosts to chase you both round the hospital 😜 . Vanessa ♡♡♡.
Vanessa and Lisa it was great to have two beautiful ladies taking me to tour a part of your history. The ultimate would be to see you both on a bushcraft overnight...o yea! ❤ from Texas.
Great video as always. While I mainly watch because of your bushcrafting, I do enjoy these abandoned and urban explorations you occasionally do. I'm also glad to see you recovery is coming along so well. Take care and keep exploring.
Thanks for sharing Vanessa and Lisa you have a lovely beautiful accent and your English charmed by your beautiful accent please continue to be your beautiful authentic self we love you for this ❤️
A very interesting place you've found for us to accompany you on the exploration... I imagine a very uncomfortable life for the residents/patients... Thank you ladies...
Thank you Vanessa and Lisa. Very fascinating place to explore. I was amazed at all the graffiti but there was some serious paintings along with it. Glad you had Lisa there with you! One thing to always consider, usually these old buildings have tons of asbestos used in the building process! I always enjoy seeing places of history like you have shown us here. Fantastic video as always! Thanks and Happy Easter!
Vanessa is a huge influence in my understanding German....at 10:11 she said "veilleicht ein Lastenaufzug" which means "maybe a freight elevator" -- John from Minnesota
careful, i'd read about some guy who also did abandon building explorations and vlogs and he eventually developed health issues due to contaminants and asbestos inhalation. watch out for the hantavirus spread by rodents. it is carried in the dust form of their droppings, urine, saliva. when i learnt about that, i went wow, didn't know that. i wouldn't routinely go into abandoned buildings thinking it is safe. it's not just the unsafe structures you've to worry about. =)
What stories that place must have!!! Kept waiting for the boogie man to jump out at every turn!!!! Lol Very interesting video Vanessa. I too noticed your facial expressions are coming back nicely. Keep on doing what you do.
@@SCSlimBoiseID no, they are pretty much useless and outdated. You would have to spend more money to get them running than what they are worth. The only thing of any value was that old scale.
@@Richie90090 it would cost more money to move it than it would get in scrap, that is why they left it. In the US, scrap metal prices are way down, most people only take in scrap because they need to get rid of it or off their property. You might as well get a little something if you have to get rid of it anyway.
Wow Vanessa! You look as pretty and vibrant as ever. I am grateful to GOD for answered prayers on your behalf. I could listen to your beautiful melodic voice........you are now officially my favorite urbex....GOD bless you sweetie, from the USA!!!!😍
I am so glad you had Lisa accompany you on this video, I found this place Very Creepy! It is very important to me that you wear both a face mask 😷 & 🧤 gloves to protect from mold & germs when venturing into old places! I did find it fascinating however. I like to visit old homes etc . too. Thank you & by the way, Happy 🐣 Easter to you both.
Hi Vanessa, wow a very cool video! There are places like that all over America. Those places are scarier than being out in the wilderness. Your friend Lisa was a good partner to be with. Try staying the night, it would be frightening. Have fun, bye.
Very interesting video Vanessa ! Some of the artwork is fascinating; certainly unique and time consuming for the "artists ". A wise decision to take Lisa with you, this place is potentially very hazardous. Nice choice for a visit !
Very good show Vanessa. Quite different from the shows I'm used to seeing. I really enjoyed Lisa as well. Although she did not talk very much she was a definite delight. It's really sad to see such a great structure being neglected by the owners and then abused by Vandals. I special love the kitchen area. And the decorative room with all the wood. Thank you for all the time you put into this. And thank you for bringing that lovely Lisa along with you. It'd be great to see her back for another invite. Keep up the good work. 😉
I was totally fascinated by this video - It is always fun exploring places like that - It is a shame that when buildings are abandoned, they are left to deteriorate and not made into something useful - Thank You for making this video as it was very interesting to watch.
Thanks Vanessa for taking us along interesting exploration the hospital was pretty big I can imagine how it was when it was in full service, ¿question who weighed more? 😂😂it was nice to see you had company makes us feel that you're safe thanks for your hard work and be safe hugs for you and Famaliy🙏🙏🙋🙋
Hey Miss Venessa the American word for the white squares and the green ones are know as ceramic tile. It comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. Glad to see you doing well and I enjoy your videos. Take care.
This was a different video. But it was a very interesting place to explore . Thank you both for sharing . I love exploring old places. Have a great evening and see on the next one.
Very interesting and some of the painted wall murals were creepy, but intriguing. I imagine if you go back during a dark night it will be much more scary 😁
Mysteriously Creepy 😱 exploring an abandoned hospital. Incredibly interesting though ❤️Thank you for sharing “Vanessa & Lisa” My Best to you both ❤️ xx 🚒 Jesse
A great video Vanessa always great videos it was nice to have Lisa with you so you did not have to worry about somebody being in there a great lost abandoned place take care stay safe always Logan 👍🦊🌺🌺🏆✌️
That is alot to look at alot of history there it never fails if something sits to long it gets destroyed thanks for showing 👍and you got thru safe and there was no man walking around in his underwear take care see ya in the next video
If walls could talk there would be some interesting story`s...... Some of that Graffiti was very very good... They should do it on a canvas and put them in an Art Gallery..... I also like exploring... Stay safe and Keep smiling... :-)))
This would have been a very nice p;ace for medical treatment or rehabilitation after an injury 80 years ago. The colors, etc., were soothing and there was an effort to get in sunlight, and so on to make the spaces in the building pleasant. Some of the kitchen equipment seems to have been made as recent as the late 1970s, so i suspect it has only been closed for about 40 years. It doesn't take long for the graffiti artist to ruin things though.
Hi dearest Mrs. Vanessa! I wonder if there is history of ghost sightings...You could of done a paranormal ghost hunt session in that building, many people in thee states are fascinated with the topic
Hi Vanessa and Lisa, you've shown us many abandoned buildings, and I just love these videos, imagining the history of this massive hospital, if only walls could talk! It's still in a sound condition, but why are they always vandalized? You found what appeared to be a gymnasium, and some very artistic graffiti. All very fascinating, and thank you both for bringing me along.
A tablet of food is a food tray. Interesting place. Tablets are a way medicine is formed or a small computer, or a pad of paper. Hugs. Thank you for being you.
Hi Vanessa, Hi Lisa ... Wow ... that certainly is a mega lost place ... ! I wish there was a way of seizing it from the owners and mulct them for leaving it to deteriorate like that ... it would make an excellent bushcraft / survival training center as well as a movie location / youth hostel / halfway house for the homeless / think tank etc .. Taxpayers money probably paid for it to be built ... [you guys need better leadership / government] ... Have you considered creating a new political party and running against the excuses for human beings that are currently in power ? Thanks for sharing and thank you for showing us your XXL spot ... !
Happy Easter Vanessa and Lisa. Thank you for this interesting video. I wonder how we can let go of such things that cost so much money and leave it behind. Take care of you.
Miss Vanessa, I had an idea for you. With your video skills and bushcraft skills and how apocolyps movies are he rage these days, maybe you could make with your friends a movie short, as you seem to know many abandoned places. It may boost your channel. Just a thought though. wishing you much success!!
Very cool. I went with my daughter to Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville Kentucky and did an exploration and ghost hunt. You need to read about that place. It's very interesting but creepy nonetheless. Thanks your videos. It provides me with an escape due to my health. 🤠🇺🇲
