What a stunning place! The engine house is just like ours hear in cornwall. Many Cornishmen went over to work in those copper mine when ours went into a decline. My great great grandfather was a mine captain in one of them so very interesting to see!👍
What a interesting site. The drone footage stole the show on this occasion Darren. From the start I was thinking can he get the angle to make the smoke appear to be coming from the stack and fairplay you did. Yet again great video and enthusiasm as in "there is always a shot to be had". All the best Pat.
Thank you very much Pat, glad I was able to fulfill your wishes :-) the drone certainly came in handy on this one and especially for that exact shot ! I’m still trying to come up with a name for the image tho .. thinking along the lines of it lives or it’s back up and running or something along those lines ?
@@DarrenJSpoonley" Allihies shudders as Puxley,s ghost bellows again " "The copper is gone, now the burn the Gorse." Or "from copper to vape " (tongue in cheek) :) Its not always easy to name a photo. You want it to be remembered for the right reason especially in these days where it seems you offend people by calling them by their names.
You’re right !! It’s a difficult one and yes in the current world you’re damned if you do and damned when you don’t :) I think I’ll call it “reignited “ :-)
"There's always a shot to be had." Love it! I got some good minimalist shots last Fall when we were buried in wildfire smoke. I tried to pretend it was just mist so I wouldn't feel so bad! Great use of drone footage on this one and I like that you left the sound of the wind whistling during that portion.
Hi Darren, this old copper mine looks really great :) I like the shot at ~06:19 with this amazing sense of depth and your drone footage is just fantastic, once more. Well done - a great video as well! Nice greetings from Austria, Christian
Thank you my friend !! Getting nice light there will be good I think .. patches across the landscape would be perfect :-) thanks for watching , glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Ann.. this will be the last of my sheep for a while .. coast for next weeks adventure :) Thanks as always for joining the Prem and for your continued support
Great stuff Darren, I love the shots you got here. The smoke added to it, gave a bit of atmosphere at the back, like lingering fog patches. What a fabulous place 😃
Beautiful drone footage and photography. I absolutely love images of isolated ruins like this. Never thought of copper mines in the UK. There were major copper mines in Michigan, but obviously there were mines on your side of the Atlantic! Thanks for sharing. Take care and keep enjoying life.
Thanks James . Delighted you enjoyed this one .. I had wanted to visit many times but conditions weren’t ideal.. even on this day they were far from ideal but as I say bad conditions don’t exist . There’s always a shot and this philosophy is really put to the test on next weeks episode :-) hopefully see ya there then
Big thanks for this one Darren, looked at that engine house and thought there must be a connection to Cornwall. Sure enough, there was with various bits of equipment fetched over. Apart from the Minach Mor mine, there are 5 others, one is entranced off the pebble beach via an adit (I bet that is blocked off lol). Great shots and footage.
Great job Darren, great drone footage coupled with the background audio...loved it... I have to put that location back on my 'hit' list, was there last year but totally rained out of it so didn't even walk up to it!
Thanks . I’m sure there’s plenty , all roads lead to it :-) I did spot a puddle when reviewing the drone footage that has the potential for a nice reflection shot
Those mining’s was peoples worked into it; however, they didn’t had the protections, then over the times they did dies in young ages a lot, and without the proper tools is difficult to worked for, they left to finds something’s to do, moved out from the mining in there’s, but those is the better mining’s on earth, over the times materials getting more riches quality.
@@DarrenJSpoonley I’ve seen some other footage of people going in there, looks pretty dodgy. There’s another one near Waterford, Tankardstown, by the sea. Very interesting indeed. There’s a big yellow buoy stuck in the beach side of Allihies. Was this done deliberately. Thank you.
