A young unwed mother mysteriously disappears, prompting her family and friends to launch a desperate search for her missing baby. As their investigation unfolds, they uncover a sinister baby-trafficking ring, led by a wealthy and influential society matron. When the girl's body is discovered, her death is ruled a suicide, but her sister and a determined newspaper reporter suspect foul play, convinced she was murdered to keep the dark secrets of the baby-profiteering racket hidden.

So here we are 75 years later and the baby business is still booming! Where are all the missing children? 😭 So glad that back in 1949 someone was brave enough to bring this business out into the open.

Isn't it interesting how some things never change. Such as men impregnating women then running away from their responsible. And then these poor women having to seek out illegal or legal abortions. It's just sad, as nothing has been learned in all these years.

It wasn't easy to find on Google a crucial piece of information about this movie: its year. There is another movie with this title, maybe even three that were made recently. Abandoned is a 1949 American crime film noir starring Dennis O'Keefe, Gale Storm and Jeff Chandler.

Are you kidding me,you are getting good free hard to find movies,for free where in the world today its getting where they are charging you for just breathing and you complain? Not that many but movie fanatics care about ooening and finishing parts of movies. Me it lets me get to enjoying the movie faster. It is worth it to pay a little and not have commercials. You probably spend more when you listen to commercials because that is what they are for.

It costs me $17 per month for Premium. I can't get into a movie if I get commercials interrupting it. So worth the money. I agree, great movie, especially with no commercials.

Margyeoman so right - what woman would be so stupid as to follow that order to stay put! I almost quit watching. But that alone made this movie idiotic.As stupid was the death trap car hidden wherever and the hero knowing just where to look. Right.

Great film noir & beautiful photography. Film addressing a terrible disgusting crime syndicate. Unfortunately the usual idiotic bad aim, random wasted bullets "gunfire" eventually shows up to destroy the realism but still a great film & worth saving. Great to see Raymond Burrrrrr!! Love his acting..
