Originally named Park Place Hotel and later renamed Howard Johnsons before finally becoming Ramada Inn, the owners abandoned the hotel while it was still in operation. After weeks of hotel staff not being able contact the owner, the staff left the hotel leaving hotel guests to fend for themselves. The hotel was officially abandoned in Fall 2016. It then fell prey to homeless and looters. The city decided to demolish the building. It is believed the owners were using the hotel as an insurance scam and could possibly be living in Brazil.
