Hiya and welcome to another mine video.
In this one we take another look at Gravel Hill mine also known as Penhale Iron Mine.
Its an interesting place although sadly a lot of the workings have now been backfilled.
Theres some interesting old dumped military gear thrown down there.
As ever please don't repeat what you have seen in this video.

Nice vid. Not a caver but went in the lower entrances years ago when I was on holiday, no gates then. I remember getting a fair way in and then there was a hole that the weak light I had couldn't light up. I dropped a stone and it sounded like a reasonable way to the bottom.

@ 9:19 there is a green 5 gallon can the contained OMD 110, that is Oil Mineral Detergent 110 which in my days in the army,, (72-84) was used as a heavy detergent oil for petrol and diesel engines. It is equivalent to an SAE 30. Subsequently superseded by OMD 75 , equivalent to a10w/30.

I think that is the same oil that is designed to go in my abbot self propelled gun !

Remember going there 6-10 years ago, found some some “interesting” sand sculptures then definitely made by blokes 😂

When I saw the start of this video I was hoping the adits were going to be open. But still cool to see inside this mine.

It would be interesting to see how far they go. I have never been up them, although I noticed they have different padlocks on now from a couple of years ago so either they have been upgraded or someone had a look inside!

The mystery ammo tin at the end looks similar dimensions and design to ones I have kicking about for 81mm mortar rounds.

15:12 that’s another ammo box Ben … not 100% certain what type but saw so many of these knocking around during my RAF days

I think it may be a old 25 pounder box. They didn’t change much since ww2 and this one could easily be that old. I bet there’s a massive pile of stuff under that sand !

@@BenoCam yeah we have an old disused mine (Muxton Colliery) near us that was connected to MOD Donnington in Telford by a train line until early 80s, although both pit heads and all the shafts have been capped, rumours had it that the MOD guys tipped all sorts of redundant and scrap radio equipment down the shafts… would be amazing to drop a GoPro on a line if there was a breather hole or something in one of the caps
