Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. THE NAIL ON THE GROWND. You can use a big magnet to recover all the nails that will be on the grownd, so no body will walk on them and get hurt. Good job ladies !

There is a negative air machine u can rent for a month with the filters. Mold pours float for weeks. The air machine will suck he mold out of the air. Your lake house needs this. Good luck

Also you're technically not supposed to be in the room with it, I used to work in a hotel like 30 years ago and we run into a major problem with the housekeeper put one of those in the guest room to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke.... We got blamed for her child losing a soccer tournament because of the consequences of an ozone machine. Not likely but the science behind it they had an argument.

A blue tarp on the ground next time before you start the tear off makes the clean up much easier and faster. And some roof jacks nailed in and boards will get you up the roof without the ladder.

So much to say here. We are all so proud of you both, and your supervisors, of course. Your due diligence with your our PPEs. You're conquering your fears. It's not very often we get to see such glamorous roofers. you were both very courageous getting up on the roof and removing all the shingles, at least the temporary roof cover will keep the cabin dry, I hope you will be putting a metal roof on it.

Try couch cushions under you on the next roof. You have all the PPE you could desire for personal safety yet the raw foam cushions will allow you too be so more secure on the roof in general. You gals rock much respect! GoWolfPacck

A Black- Light Flashlight will help you find the mold - when used at night. It illuminates the mold. Good Luck with your project ! You guys are doing an amazing job !!!!!!!

I think you should consider raising the cabin up a little on the foundation. Consider 2-3 courses of glass blocks. It would allow light into the crawl space and, if you wanted, you would internally light them for a pretty cool night time effect.

It could not be weight bearing, requires maintenance, and no one is hanging out in the crawl space. Hanging and directional lights will bring beauty to the area, similar to the other cabin. Some uplighting in the trees would be cool.

Its always good to have a fire shelter. Being off Grid there is no fire department that will respond so having another building nearby but also beyond the radiant heat zone of heat if main cabin catches fire.

The roofs in scotland for the most part are steep and we use tile or slate never using shingles as they don't stand up to our high winds and rain.

WOW!!!! You both are rockstars. Congratulations Crystal you are better than I am. I have a couple suggestions for you ladies. One is to use clementine and the bucket to reach over the dumpster to smash it down and to put the shingles in the dumpster. Have a wonderful week
