Abandoned Lime Kiln: Fuerteventura lost place!

Take a walk through an old style lime kiln! This lime kiln, on the island of Fuerteventura, enabled construction of homes, businesses, and bunkers (and imagine what else!). It still stands, today, derelict and abandoned on the coast of Fuerteventura beside the capital city of Puerto Del Rosario.

Yes it was a cool place. I never even knew what a lime kiln was for until we found this place and learned more about it. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I had a lot of tests this week.

Yet another super cool job on this! Wow what a background at 1:50 mark just so cool, love the wind farm there! Yeah some super cool footage your have here, towers are cool! I guess they used a mud mortar to stick the stones together or something heat resistant! Cheers again for sharing!

Thank you! I'm sorry it took me so long to reply, I had a lot of tests this week. The island had SO many old abandoned houses that were made of mud brick and volcanic rocks. I wonder how many of those houses used the stuff that this factory made? I bet most of them were just mud like you said. It really was a cool place. We thought it was a fortress at first!

Thank you for watching the video! We thought for the first few days that it was a fortress. The coolest part was the the kids are using the part that must have been for a boat dock as a swimming place now. I would have never known what a lime kiln was if we didn't find this.

I found these Lime Kilns quite interesting and we have our history of Lime Smelters. The mortar was very much used for building with bricks. One learns something new every day. Thank you for sharing. 🤗🙏🏽👍🏽❤
