Hi , I fished this loch when I was 13 years old its known as Lochgelly Loch, there was an abundance of perch and pike in this loch, biggest pike I saw drawn out was 19Lb, there were also perch up to 3Lb, I am now 67 so it was over 50 years ago when I did this. The pier for the water ski club was where the perch had their breeding grounds as you looked through the concrete slats you could see the hundreds of perch swimming around, the best place to fish was up the reed beds at the Lumphinnans end of the loch.
Class video mate even us anglers have a blank now and again like to see videos where anglers have a bad day, Ive videos a few videos of blanks but it's just still good to get out and get the fresh air into your lungs 😂I've just subbed you pal thanks for sharing atb crash😁🏴
The lad gave it a go,but as we all know the blanks generally outdo the successful sessions. If i wanted to give that place a go, i'd want to be afloat. Kayak would be ideal, and when you wanted a rest and some grub, you could drop deadbaits out further than you could cast from the bank, then paddle back and relax. There may well be some decent pike in there,as it doesn't appear to be hammered, but i would also try some groundbaiting and fishing for smaller species,as you need shoals of perch, trout, roach etc to sustain a decent head of pike.
Aye,lochgelly loch,as has been said nothing in there now plenty in the 60's 70's early 80's but nothing now,as been said perch were like soup plates and big pike in abundance, the only thing in there now is the local chinese have a couple of eel traps, really is finished as a fishing loch now so save yourself a journey, its fkd
I used to fish it al the time as a kid, then an algae killed everything off, no life for most of the late 90s, pike were reintroduced and as soon as they reached breeding age...… the poles arrived.... they worked it over faster than the algae, cut down all the trees, burning tyres and dumping rubbish and shitty nappies all over the fucking place
@@icecreammuncher2636 there's not much about that's not suffered the same fate.. I've heard the fitty was the same which again gutting cause it's such a nice big water
@@leoncharite6547 I live just north of inverness, all locks up here are dead, fucking parasites mate, even the English laks have suffered, 50+ year old carp being coshed and eaten
@@icecreammuncher2636 to many people ruining pike fishing and to be honest almost all fishing in Scotland is fucked unless you go fish a stocked pond for trout. I'm patiently waiting to get up the a9 for a big croc soon
Scottish Sovereign mark mcg a actually got told big pike where getting caught there! There's a lot of dead bait packets lying about but never caught anything! Might give it another go...
Used to be alright late 90's. End of the pier one rod straight out one aimed towards the pylon on the left. Always smelt and on occasion brown trout. Usually evening till dark. Average size 6-10lb. Pretty common to catch a few each time. Deepest part is 16ft about 3/4 way up on the far bank from where your motor was parked.
