Right you are 3:25 it is now a historical site witch saved it from getting torn down a new owner bought it and it is now a office building but no one can change anything about the building because of it being a historical site I love seeing it and I see it every day I walk out of my house and see it from my front porch.
Not long after I moved to Newark from Columbus, I started working on the fifth floor at the Basket. It's gorgeous inside, especially when you are on the 7th floor, and look all the way down into the center of the basket, straight into the "lobby/living room/front desk" kind of like the Embassy Suites hotel in Cbus. The skylights/open ceiling is incredible, looking out over 16 and you just think, "man, if these walls could talk!"
Maybe they were not as experienced at business as their father! I do not think the loss was intentional . The founder passed quickly after a cancer diagnosis and was left to his two daughters who were young and grief stricken. I would live to see a Nonprofit Organization Christian Based buy this for a Ministry 🙏
Really it was Dave's daughter who ran the company into bankruptcy see they owned the holder swimming pool off of wast main street in Newark a little girl died in the swimming pool due to the error of the owners neglect to keep up with the place nice and the girls parents sued the pants off the company witch in the end they filled for bankruptcy in 2005 a new owner bought the basket and the state of Ohio made it a historical site witch saved it from getting torn down.
