This is the story of one man who had a dream of coming to America from Austria, becoming a successful buisness man and to build a beautiful mansion for his family. All of this did come true for him but with the crash of the 1920s made this dream short lived. Louis Traxler and the Traxler Mansion.

Thankfully, you were able to document the beauty of this place before it was burned and demolished. Its beauty shined through despite the damage done before the fire. It's such a shame. Thank you.

What a beautiful presentation! The architecture is stunning. It's a shame how it has trash strewn all over. How breathtaking it must have been in its day. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. The music was perfect!😊

How sad to see such a beautiful home end up in this shape. It made me want to cry. Someone 's dream up in ruins, then gone forever up in smoke.

I'm a third generation Daytonian. The Traxler place was frustrating to watch. The pattern is: the money to buy and maintain such houses moves south to build new mansions on virgin farmland. Dayton has a program to demolish abandoned properties to keep it from becoming another Detroit. Many beautiful, and historic, houses and buildings, are gone. When someone takes the initiative to save such a place, and has it put on the register, and no viable source comes forward with the plan, purpose, and money to revitalize, and they know in advance of the prospects of an auction, or they have already found a better use for the land it sits on, it might meet with a fire in the night for which the arson is never found. It's not my intention to accuse, or to air our dirty laundry, but Dayton is no different than hundreds of other towns accross the Rust Belt, and America, who do much less. Revitalization and gentrification are slow growing seeds that do not come to fruition for generation. If there are enough from a throw away society to carry it on.

I live three blocks away from where the Traxler Mansion stood. It was the crown jewel of the neighborhood. The house was supposed to go up for auction the week it burned down. We were all just so heartbroken. The owners would not let go of it. At long last it went up for auction for back taxes and then it was gone. Just like that.

Did I miss something; If this landmark residence was added to the National Register of Historical Houses in 1979, why is it not protected & preserved in perpetuity?
@UrbanEyeAbandoned

The National Register gives awards of acknowledgement of a historical place, It is the owner of the property responsibility to take care of it. Thank you for your comment and for watching.

Lived in Dayton 2010-15. West side of the river is a ghetto. One would have to be crazy to waste money trying to save this beautiful house. Not safe on that side and would never get a return on your investment.

Shame on the local-Yokols for trashing that house😢 If I had money, I would buy and restore that house to its original beauty except modernize the kitchen that’s it ❤ What a beautiful home❤🥰 Oh no I just saw the last one minute of this video. 😭😭😭😭 what a waste

I came across this place about a month before it was set on fire, i tried reaching out to the owner by phone, my biggest concern was if i purchased the property i had no way of getting a team there quick enough to clean up the property and prorect it from vandalism. If anyone can put me in contact with the owner i like to know what their plans are

I think it sold at auction after the fire.
