Today Brian and I decided we would go check out the abandoned Frederick Towne Mall in northern Maryland. The mall was very interesting and was full of some interesting stores including the one with the neon on the ceiling. THANKS FOR WATCHING! SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE!

I remember when I used to go there when I was like a baby with my mom and dad good times and there is a Bosco in that mall that is still open

This is literally my childhood. I used to love going to the movie theater. The closest I ever got to seeing the abandoned part was through the boscovs lmao but they recently blocked it off

beka dilley sad to see I shared so many good memories there with family or dates and always had a warm feeling to the place. The movies were always great to extend the trip and I got to go to the movies my one and only time with my grandpa there before he passed. So it’s really sad to see it the way it is..

I remember going to this mall almost everyday with my family back in my elementary school days around 2007. Looking back at it now 12 years later at 20+ years of age, there's a small part of me that wants to revisit this graveyard of a mall. So many memories.

Can’t believe you got in! I’ve been obsessed with this mall for years and I honestly didn’t think anymore videos would come out of the place. Glad to see the current owners are taking better care of it than the old ones. The store you called a restaurant was Bath and Body Works, I don’t know what the store with the neon ceiling was but yes it is one of the coolest spaces. The store with the marble was Clair’s, the makeup counter one was Bon Ton and they were in both that space and the one across the corridor from it. I don’t know what the “Jonny” store was, the other big green empty space with all the lights off was the old Footlocker till they moved into the space that had an office chair in it. The pizza parlor (Lallo’s Pizza) looks really cool when all the lights are on inside. And I don’t know what the “baseball” store was. The reason the power is still on is because the Boscov’s and Home Depot at the mall are all on one power grid. A movie theater chain called Warehouse Cinemas is supposed to take over and renovate the whole side of the building in between the old Bon Ton and Home Depot but they are delayed for some reason.

That part of Frederick is not the USA anymore. It is South America. That mall went down because of all the crime happening there. Stores left because of that.

It’s crazy to see this mall like this I grew up going there as a kid and it was always PACKED! And I mean full of people! It had one of the nicest Christmas displays in the center every year. The restaurants and the movies were always busy. And it was literally almost like someone flipped a switch and it died. Once the Bonton and Jcpenny left it died. Right around the recession in 07-09 hit the mall died. It was always clean and warm and families. But when the recession hit and a lot of subsidized housing directly behind it the theft started to rise and the mall got a bad reputation for bad activity and bad people hanging out and the rest of the shoppers stopped coming. It’s funny because we have another mall here in Frederick that is still going strong and about 85%+ full with vendors so why does one mall survive and the other not when they co-existed together for 3-4decades? Just another casualty to the internet and people becoming more and more non traditional. I mean whatever happened to the once every few weeks family trip to the mall for somefamily time together, shopping, dinner, and a movie? Or friends getting together to go hangout, walk around, movies, and an orange julious and mall dates as a teen? Peopl don’t do this anymore and I don’t understand why? Life is so non personal these days. When that changed places like these died it’s sad to see! I had so many memories with grandparents and trips with just my mom and I and always being happy and fulfilled when we left. But even the live malls just don’t have the same feel as they used to? Anyone else feel this way?

Also just a thought if someone would put the money back into renovations to the property there has been a huge boom in residential building on that end of Frederick of upper middle Class that travel to Montgomery Co., Virginia for higher class shopping this mall could be rescued with middle-high class shopping. The money is here in Frederick again and the people moving from more expensive areas want the same class of shopping they are accustomed to but they have to travel 45+ miles to get what they want and they do without hesitation because they want what they want. So bring in the LV, Coach, high end sneaker stores, game stores and arcades, put the movies back in and or some NICE restaurants and this mall would be packed ESPECIALLY if you bring in good restaurants it if you build it with the right restaurants, retailers under one roof it would thrive!
