Abandoned - Mines lost in the bush

Nice vid, I spend most of my weekends exploring lost/abandoned places.

there are many abandoned mines in oz, many councils have no record of them as they were dug in the 1840s many of them, the ones that are known had wooden pallets thrown over them and dirt shoveled over, over the years the pallets rot leaving a convex shape in the ground, usually 3ft by 4ft, if you walk on it you fall into the shaft as the soul will give way.

At 5:52 that isn't an engine, it's a battery stamp Mill for breaking up the rocks to dust so it can be run through a sorter..

You found an old stamp mill that was torn apart. Thats what those big piston lookin deals were. Great finds

Cool vid mate you got me wanting to explore that place now so i can take some photos to preserve and look about. So a bit of info for you bud the machinery you found with the piston was a pulled apart stamper mill,the trench you found was a water race and that mine you first found by looks of it was the shallower mine the last mine you found you know how you found those pitts that your mate said you wouldn't want to jump in thats a very smart move those pitts are actually ventilation shafts for that mine. I'm only speculating but with shafts like this when they have this ventilation shafts and it's on a hill near water sometimes theres a second entrance on the hill side coming out where they drag the ore in carts ect to water. This is a way cool find mate cheers for sharing

Looks like a piston . That is the hamers that dropped doped down and crashed the rocks. It's called a battery

You all need to carry chem lights for dropping down those shafts so you can actually see how deep they are or if they are so deep that you loose the light.

Man you need to go to Nunawading Rock climbing and learn to climb up and down ropes, it would be grate to go down the old mines

That poison bottle was amazing! I know you don’t take things, but why not take paper and crayon and make rubbings of stuff, like the bottle or the Victoria foundry sign on the machinery. That way you get your souvenir and nothing taken! Amazing trip, so different from the U.K. loved it.

Laugh at young folk metal ladders are used in? Hollow tube ladders are made in? 100 yr old huh may be some but those are current solid 1940 on wards...oh it's really old 1970 ha

recomend fall arrest devise if going to climb down anything over 1m. fall down one of them might as well fill in after ya. also oxygen yes might not be any in there climbing or walking straight in there is no airflow miners use fans and extractors . be careful is all. only takes 30sec to collapse with gas or no oxygen then you or mate climb in to help then two dead then third one panics climbs in dead too. highly recomend gas tech and learn how to test air for confined space entry.
