@@RealAyzeNZ Couple million!? That would barely scratch the surface...then you got maintenance, pay for staff etc lol. It would take far more than just a couple million, If it only took a couple million this place wouldn't have been abandoned in the first place.
We we're supposed to go on my little sisters birthday I think in 2016?? But it was thundering. I've never been there before but my parents have, the latest update is that the people who work for the place are looking for 2 partners who can help them with the money and to re - do it. If it's true then it could take 10 or more years to re - build since it almost looks impossible to re - do it, I hope it's true. Honestly it's kind of sad how they couldn't afford to pay the bills for the place, some of the slides we're rotting even when the pools we're still opened. Their was a lot of struggles but it must've been so much fun and so much memories plenty of people have had.
Back in its hey day, the round pool with the three islands in it, used to be just a round pool about 1.2 mt deep and with just 4 or five people you could make a whirl pool by moving as fast as you could round the inner perimeter for a few laps in one direction.. Once the whirl pool was happening you'd float and ride the whirl.... Fun times were eventually stopped by the owners placing the three islands inside the pool to stop this whirlpool action.. Kiljoys... Anyone else remember doing that... Early 80s?
0:55 That tip top sign and the whale really strike up nostalgia for me. It would be cool if they rebuilt it but I’d like if they allowed people to go on scheduled supervised tours of the abandoned place. Tho I guess it’s technically not safe due to it being a construction zone and there being a tone of Heath and safety paper work that would need to be done and stuff. 1:34 that long lazy river type of thing. I think it was still being built. Last I went was in 2012 as a kid and even at that time it wasn’t doing too well except during maybe key holidays. It was a bit run down and the camping grounds (which I assume no one was using by this point were already pretty much abandoned. Most of the slides had pretty gross water at the ends of them and since there weren’t many teenagers no one used the slides at the very top. It was still fun to run up there though and look around as a kid. I can still feel the cold, thin wet carpet under my feet 🥶
this is sad, I grew up going there in the 60's before moving to Canada in 69, went back and go tot go there again just before it shut down. Someone should fix it up again.
In 2009 the rights to run the thermal pools (and water bottling businesses) were purchased by Russian oligarch Mikhail Khimich. Obviously the water bottling is no longer
