You are a Gem Geoff, the old Millerton road (called in my day) with all the hair-pin bends, travelling to work at the Stockton Mine on a Bedford Bus, not forgetting the compulsory stop at the Millerton Pub on the way home. Give ya 10 likes if I could, Cheers Bruce

brought tears to my eyes watching this, with a flood of memories coming back. Im nearly 60 but my grandparents lived in hector and as a child we holidayed over there and went on scenic trips on those roads. Beautiful scenery, i couldve watched alot more like this. Then only 8 years or so ago i got to drive my partner, now deceased up those roads cos he worked as a mechanic at the mines, and yes, travelled on the bedford bus...so many memories, thanks for posting geoff

Brought back memories for me, going up the old road. Looking at the houses in Granity too, seeing some buildings are not there anymore. That was a great video, thank you.

I used to drove up that road a few years ago, really appreciate the video, amazing how quick the undergrowth takes over. I've photos of the missus standing on the first bridge

Thanks for this footage Geoff. I didn't realise no one lives up there these days, i drove Road Services miners buses up there sometimes mid to late 70s. Although i was based at Westport, i would ride to Granity on the early service and pick up an old Bedford Omnibus from the Granity bus barns to do the Stockton mine run. Bob.Wilson Lower Hutt.

When i was a schoolboy at Westport, we would cycle to Granity and walk up the incline to visit my friend, Brian Shaws, grandmothers house at Millerton for snacks.

That section of rd should be used by the Westland car club 4 rally stage. Waste of an amazing engineering feat. Used to work at Stockton mine and used this road, would be gd fun in rally car.

Seen it 100000 times..same old..walked it..rode it..drove it..hunted goats on it..possum trapped it lol
