I am in relation to the current owner of the yellow house. There are now no trespassing signs due to the vandalism and sheer destruction people cause by going there thinking it's a "ghost town". It's not, there are still more than 5 people living in keota full time.
I’ve gone into this very house.. but I didn’t destroy or misplace anything… people that do that crap while urbexing are just insensitive and rude and ruin the urbexing community for the rest of us
I realize I watched this video a little later but I hope you took some of the comments seriously about the gum chewing. cussing, and fast camera movements. That will turn people off very quickly. It will also cause you to lose watchers. I hope you redo this video after improvements because I for one would love to see it again but at a slower pace and go through things don't be in such a big hurry. If your friend down stairs cannot wait on you then they don't need to be there. Hope to see you in a better video.
Julie PPPLLLLLEEEAASE stop with the gum! I know you addressed this earlier, but God luv ya, I grew up in and explored a LOT of Colorado. Please do not disrespect or discolor the rich history and people who moved, settled and created the amazing places I read about and discovered during my travels. Also, please reflect a bit more respect for the dead when you make your "remarks" while standing graveside. I can see why you don't want to drive "in the dark", as you say...things may jump up and bite you in the ass...Just sayin'. P.S. The "Vomit Cam" has to go, too! I could only sit thru Blair Witch once, and almost hurled going home...(hint,hint)
Its not that spooky. Crawl spaces in old houses are very common, and were practical. Looks like older people lived there before it was abandoned. The graveyard isn't " abandoned" people are still buried there in the past few years. The pringles can is from the late 70s early 80s, and the person who owned the yellow house last name was Oram. Their daughter had it until she died Auriel Oram Sandstead...I don't think it was a hotel it was a residence. There actually use to be a hotel here at one point in history. Most of the land in Keota is owned by a man named Charlie who at one point tried his best to preserve things, add markers, and trails. Those "pegs" of wood are fence posts lol!
Thanks for the visit. I was there back in 1960 , eight years old at the time. We moved east in '62 and I still think of that town. There was a store that was open for business just down the road from an old wooden two story schoolhouse, or was it a hotel? I'm smiling to the sound of the prairie breeze, that becomes such a part of living out there.
I like metal bed frames. Nice find. Pple prob had no job opportunities, so town shut down is usual case. Pple need to work. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe
At 15.03 there is a grave on far right , with the last name Sandstead , Josephine . in the yellow house that last name was written on things, also sign on table said ( house of Jesse ?could that be her, she died in 2007.
Moving camera too fast and spit out the gum! Just because there are lots of bed does not mean that it is a hotel, it could mean that it was a large family. Thumbs down..
I'm glad you liked Keota, a fascinating reminder of Colorado's last surge of homesteading in the pre WWI years. You should research your topic so you could tell people that the house you broke into was a mail order house or that there is an actual representation of this town you can visit at Colorado History museum in Denver. My high school seniors helped assemble community archives for the area for the exhibit and were honored guest, with our whole tiny school, at the grand opening of the museum. Actually, there are probably as many homestead-era ghost towns as mining towns but they are seldom noticed. though more common.
Someone's house not motel. Sometimes extra beds for guests like friends or convalescent person(s). Probably used as storage by ranchers. Extra crawl space is side of roof where rooms are squared off. Might as well access the space for storage. Corner building likely the local store with bit of everything. Canned goods to cloth for sewing to hardware.
🎶 You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round 🎶 smacking your lips 👄. Oh Dude 🆘 🙉🙈🐒🙀Seriously next time move camera 🎥 slowly no gum. Really would of liked to see it. U got the personality.
You are taking all these viewers on an adventure into places that they are too lazy to get off their behinds and go see and all they can do is complain about gum chewing?
I worked for Weld County in Colorado back in the mid-'80s and at that time this town was still alive. Just barely, but alive nonetheless. We had a grader shed back in those days that we (WC Bldgs and Grounds Dept) was responsible for. The operator used to grade the roads and he kept the machine in a shed (the grader shed) that was heated. We used to go out there a couple of times a year to do preventive maintenance on the heater. I wonder if there's still a grader shed there.
Yay, maybe I can watch it then because this wasn't watchable. I honestly had to take 3 ibuprofens after 6 minutes for the headache it gave me. I'm from Colorado (but unfortunately now live in Kansas) and would love to see more explores from home!!
What the cemetery could tell you is that WWI and the great flu pandemic of 1918 account for a lot of those graves. This area was very hard hit by that flu.Single women homesteaders, often widows and well as single women, homesteaded the area, too--another little known area fact.
It wasn't a hotel it was a home. I've done extensive research on this house. Across the road was not a bar, it was a post office and before that it was a printing press/newspaper. James A Michener based one of his characters off the little old man who operated the post office and his sister is who owned the sunshine house. There's great photos of them together. If you're interested, message me. I'm happy to send you what I have. :)
Dude if you did this video in the middle of the night with just the flash light you would have gotten way more hits. The spooky factor would have been intense.

In case anyone is interested check it the link. coloradoencyclopedia.org/article/bureau-reclamation-colorado I did a screen shot of the letter he briefly looked dated 1969 then after reading it discoverd it was from a worker was with the Colorado bureau of land reclamation. A bit of history for you.
How do you kow that property doesnt belong to the people down the road? Just because it doesnt post no tresspassing doesnt give anyone the right to go on the property.
Just found your channel but the gum chewing, swearing and fast moving camera made me turn it of at the 4:00 mark. At 2:03 you said "Look at all these books!" I would have LOVED to see some of the titles but couldn't see a single one of them.
You should go back to this place, since your more experienced auth your videos now. The gum chewing...its not something i would've thought of so, easy mistake. Lol. Please go back to this place. 👍😉
