It's shame that things are built by man has to be neglected, but natural finds away to make it worth respecting, such a beautiful scenery. Thank you for the this aw video..
Nice video! I liked that you shut off the camera just inside the first tunnel, then restarted it near the other end. (I also liked it that you *didn't* "look" over the side of the second trestle, as my acrophobia would've kicked in, especially seeing how flimsy the railings were!) Like the way you showed the curvature inside the second tunnel before shutting off, then resumed at the other end. I subbed and liked. Thanks! P.S. Nice music, too.
When you think of the time, effort and money it cost to build those railways and those tunnels, its criminal to just abandon them. But who is going to pay for the maintenance.
Made that hike from Cochran down to the Nehalem River 2 years ago. The destruction of that rail line is quite impressive. . .Mother Nature rules.. I'm sure we were that last to pass through the long tunnel as that collapsed tunnel was barely passable - our butts were up against the ceiling. . .It's an all day hike, for sure!
anyone know if the old caboose is still up there? just camped at wheeler pond yesterday and thought the caboose was somewhere right there if my memory served correct but but couldn't find it.
Railroad,Preserver,2000 The coastal 49 miles to Tillamook Airship Hanger are operated by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad however the Salmonberry Trail group wants all 96 miles, not just this half. They want the coastal portion the train (with 3 steam engines plus currently SKOOKUM) runs on. The railway is willing to let the go alongside and help construct it, just not lift the rails for a trail. This portion is far to expensive to operate.
How did you hike over those ties without tripping? Melancholy video...would have been nice to see the route from Google Maps too. Thanks for the experience.
one little troll didn't like your vid....what's not to like? Wish I could drive close & do a small hike as I am old & can't walk too far....thx for the great scenery
People need to buy my 'Impact' A James Grider novel on Amazon and linked in my videos so I can afford to move out of the desert into a forested place like this. Someone needs to run a train that thing with James Grider inside it.
Kieran Lepley I say leave the tracks be . I love trains and I'm a freight rider but when mother nature takes back what is her then in my mind it's best to leave it be
