STORY
Join us on an exhilarating journey as we uncover the mysteries of an extraordinary abandoned site frozen in time for over 50 years. Nestled within nature's embrace, this stunning French mansion once belonged to Mister Jean Jacques, a humble yet remarkable figure in the town's history.
Venturing through the overgrown gardens reclaiming their space, we delve into the life of Mister Jacques and his bustling family of 11. Despite his prestigious role as the town's mayor, Jacques remained grounded, finding solace in pursuits like horseback riding and painting.
Inside the mansion, time stands still. The year 1969 marks the end of its inhabitation, leaving behind a pristine tableau of French elegance. Each room tells a story, adorned with untouched furniture and Jacques' own exquisite paintings, echoing the presence of a bygone era.
But what led to this abandonment? Why did no one return to reclaim this treasure trove of memories? These questions linger as we unravel the enigmatic tale of Mister Jacques and his family.
Embark with us on this mesmerizing journey into the enchanting world of Mister Jacques, where time holds its breath, and history whispers its secrets. 🏰🌿

It baffles me how no siblings ever cared about all that family history left behind.

I am German and learned french for 10 years and then I drove a lot to France and got accomondation in french private homes. I were always very astonished that these homes were very outmoded. I saw homes around the year 2000 which looked nearly like this house. My impression was that french people are not a fan of renovating. I know that there are existing today a lot of modern houses too, perhaps the young people today are different. But I think in France you can still find houses with those old furniture and wallpapers or even fabric at the walls. But here, I can´t understand that are 11 children and non of them would care about this house. Why they didn´t sell it and another one could care about this house? I don´t think that the house is very worth preserving, but a lot of inside.

Yeah, out of all those 11 children, not one wanted the house or the contents?! Incredible! They couldn't even get it together enough to sell it and split the proceeds? Can you imagine having 10 siblings?! Ai yai yai!

@feelinguru-vywiththepaingu9808 20 дней назад
LOL I was thinking the same thing. It could be a matter of them being too far away, or a tax issue. It looks like some of the things have been removed. They may have gotten what they wanted from the house and left. It looks like some of the things were gone through, like the artwork on the sofa. They may have take a bunch of them and stood them up there and taken the pieces that gave them the most joy. Same with dishes, linens, and clothing. Some of the cupboards were empty.

I loved this! You have the BEST abandoned videos!!! As a painter myself, it was wonderful that you spent time with each piece of artwork. I was hoping you'd come across Jacque's paints and brushes. It would fascinate me to see them. But, it may be better that you didn’t, some of the paints of old are very toxic, with lead, uranium, arsenic, mercury, etc. They're made different now and we've lost some of the colors because it's often impossible to find a pigment that matches up with the original pigment. Sometimes, it wasn't the pigment, but the texture that was lost. The word you were close to finding was ingenious. And that case was alligator or crocodile leather. Sending love to you both from Reno, Nevada, USA. ❤❤❤

If he was the Mayor of the town, it would be best if the letters, newspapers, accounting books & such were collected and preserved in the library or given to local historians. @24:58 The kitchen may be old...but the buffet cabinet in the kitchen against the wall on the left side is positivity medieval! That cabinet is some of the first furniture ever made! The style the size the wood! Omg! The hardware for locking the doors is ancient. The front doors...panels are two separate pieces. The back wood is so rough, you can see the saw marks. Its a shame they (explorers)dont spend more time on the antique furniture. Sometimes the oldest rarest pieces are often overlooked by these guys because it isnt pretty enough or shiny enough. True history made by true artist and craftsmen of their time. The guys who made this furniture were rockstars in their time. Paid well and traveled with whole troops of apprentice's watching the masters at work. These explorers have a real opportunity to view some of the ratest and oldest wood furniture ever made, please ask them to pay more attention to the estate made furniture. Chests, buffets, armoires, doors, carving, moldings, wall treatments, etc...

Hey! Thank you for this incredible sharing! I didn't expect this type of interior when I saw the facade. Everything is so old, from another age. It's paradoxical knowing that the house was inhabited until the end of the 60s. It's sad to see this house in this state. So many wonders inside just waiting to be restored and used. You are my favourite explorers of the abandoned spaces of the world. I really appreciate how you research the sites and pay attention to the finer details. Not to mention the incredible quality of the photography, truly exquisite. What always amazes me is just what you point out in many of your home explorations, the question of why the children or other remaining family seem to have completely ignored the place where I presume they had so many great memories of growing up. As well, the property has actual value as a piece of real estate. Baffling. I just wish I had a bazillion dollars to my name. I'd love to take this property and restore it lovingly, preserving as many of it's contents as I could. In some of the older estates there are documents dating back hundreds of years which I'm sure must be of interest to historians.

I always try to get a glimpse of patterns in hand made table and bed coverings, designs in wall paper and other fabrics, but most explorers rush by them. Just taking photographs of some of that and making separate videos on those would be inspiring. And of the furniture as well. Old furniture was more adapted to the body's actual proportions to make people enjoy sitting or resting on it. Modern furniture often considers mainly an aesthetic appeal.

The newspaper in the first room was 1954, I was born in 64,lol... hitting the big 60 at the end of May, which is blowing my mind..lol I always enjoy your journey through history. You can tell you enjoy what you do, respectful to the furnishings and the family that lives there. Another well-done video. You can tell it was the 60's, love the dragon, lol I have one that'd on my back in a tear drop..lol that briefcase looks like crocodile skin to me.The newspaper was skirts for ladies, the last picture had a bustle on the back( the fashion of the times). I believe someone was sick for a while due to the bundle of mail. Love the maps of cathedrals. I was curious ,with the drawings of the church ,if that church could be seen from any of the windows?

Hey dear Lesley I just had to rewatch this fascinating explore you did together with Danny in that for a long time abandoned French mansion. - Also your introduction was very interesting to read and to listen. Danny did an excellent job with his camera, and I also loved the beautiful background music. - Despite a lot of very heavy decay traces the rooms still were so beautiful to see with all that antique furniture and many paintings. They had a legit time capsule vibe. - I also liked the bedroom with the four poster bed the most with the red colour. And this curtain decor above the double beds in the other bedroom provided it with a certain elegant touch. - This music notebook from Beethoven you found, were a collection of his so called "Bagatellen", which are smaller but intriguingly beautiful pieces for piano. I also used to play some if these. Wonderful explore, bro! I am already looking forward to your next explore adventure. - Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards from Switzerland.

Talking about family, I'm very mixed, but my uncle did it the old fashion way, which I prefer, by tracing our roots and family tree. I know I'm English, German, French, Irish, Spanish from Spain, who an English relative in the eithteen hundreds married a beautiful woman from Spain that he fell crazy in love with, and got disowned by his family. So I'm really mixed, A LOT. My dad's side is French-Canadian, and that's about as far as we know from him, since we only traced my moms side. I watch all your videos, rarely comment, but I've always loved all things old from those long centuries ago, it intrigues me so much! Thank you for your videos that take me to the past.
