My Grandmother died in that hospital, Waited in the waiting room for over 7 hours while having a heart attack.. They closed up because you couldn't get any service in time to save your life..

I’m from Toledo, Ohio, just an hour south of Detroit. I’ve driven up 75 North right past where this building is and have never noticed it. So really interesting to learn of its history and matter. Thank you Jake for making this great video, well done!

Somewhat of a happy update on the property. It is going to be the new site of the Detroit City Football Club stadium. So in the end, the land shall be repurposed and the original structure demolished. It just came up as recent news and I recalled your video covering this space. Thanks for the education on this property. Best wishes on the future use of the space to the football club.

This series would be such a great show for Netflix! I also love all your videos on the state I grew up in, Michigan. As sad as it is to see the decay that’s happening there it’s interesting to find out the cause. Thanks for making such entertaining videos!

I love these! You should do 2 Connecticut places. The New Haven Coliseum and Veterans Memorial Medical Center Hospital in Meriden Connecticut which has been sitting abandoned since 1998

There’s a partially abandoned mental hospital here in Texas. One of the employees told me it was renovated, then a few years later, buildings containing asbestos could no longer be used. Pretty much it’ll cost too much to demolish the building; considering the safety precautions that would have to be taken to contain the asbestos, so they just leave them there. Now plants are taking over the buildings. It’s pretty creepy, the functional part of the hospital has photos of some of what I would call human experimentation that went on in mental hospitals in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Please come to Cincinnati and do an episode at Forest Fair Mall/Cincinnati Mills/Cininnati Mall/Forest Fair Village. Once a thriving mall now maybe 8 places and they clean the whole mall constantly mainly for mall wakers. The mall has had countless owners, it even changed hands before the mall was opened in 1990, I know its not technically abandoned it still would make a cool episode

Detroit. Abandoned buildings. You don’t say? (I live near by. It’s getting better in some areas, and some are just... abandoned.)

Looking at 0:56 in particular, I believe one of the reasons it hasn't been sold, is because the metal framework is badly corroded. Besides sitting in water for so long, any part that's been exposed to the elements would have to be sandblasted or replaced. I heard you live in Ontario, Canada. That being the case, have you ever heard of the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake, Ontario? They suffered a collapse of the roof structure, killing two people. It was caused by saltwater leaks from the roof parking. Although this structure wasn't exposed to salt-water, time is not kind to steel structures. . Although I'm no engineer (so don't take my words on the corrosion as literal fact), I am an apprentice electrician, and even with my limited education, I agree that rewiring that place would be a nightmare (though admittedly easier than one with the walls still up), because you would have to design around the existing structure instead of combining all design elements in a new build. . You also have to consider the changes to the building and electrical codes, which, depending on those changes, may make the building unusable for renovation without essentially rebuilding the structure from the ground up. . The last nail in the coffin is its location: Detroit. Although I personally have no problem with Detroit as a city, it has not survived well after the collapse of its automotive sector. It has such a huge problem with abandonment that between it and Flint, even the state is facing potential bankruptcy. The only thing going for it (based on the satellite photos you provided) is its distance from a major expressway. . As a side note, if I could make a request, can you do an Abandoned episode for CFB Picton? Although parts of the structure are still in use (the airstrip is still in use, and the mental hospital is now used as a paintball/airsoft field owned by PRZ, but is quite literally "abandoned' in appearance), overall the entire facility is in a severe state of disrepair, and would be an interesting video.

I’d like to see abandoned sports facilities like the Joe Louis Arena and the Palace Of Auburn Hills right there in Detroit.

This saddens me that the building sat there decaying and it could have been a homeless or victims of domestic abuse shelter, a school, turned into studio apartments, just something to help those in need, but no, people chose to destroy, vandalize and turned it into a money pit to bring back to code.

I live in Detroit and this place was a brutally scary place with drug dealers and other homeless addicts But the roof is cool!

As someone who lives in a country 🇦🇷 with public and universal healthcare it's funny and weird to hear that a hospital went bankrupt. (Here the places that are like hospitals but are private are called clinics most of the time)
