class of 2019! I took everything I could carry out of the library and art closet when I left. The building was pretty much falling apart, class of 2020 was the last to graduate in this old building. This is so surreal to me, I went to school in this building for 8 years, I basically grew up here.

I was the junior high science teacher from 1990-1999. My class painted the artwork in the science lab. Julie Viertel was the art teacher who guided the students. She gets all the credit for the beauty of the murals and bringing out the talent in the children. Such a lovely community to serve. Many precious memories I have from my years teaching there. What will happen to the contents of the building? I would love to have the doors to my two classrooms as a remembrance of my students and all the fun we had learning together.

Thank you so very much for the memories and the info, it means a ton to us that you played along and shared those here! Those murals are/were amazing, and it will be a shame to lose them. We tried to capture and preserve and much as we could, even if through video only.. I am fairly certain the building will be demolished for senior living or some sort of living... That is sad, but everything have a cycle :/ we hope u enjoyed! Wish I could've walked out with those doors for u! Ty again!

Hi, Ms. Bobb! I was one of your students. Graduation Class of ‘96. I still remember the “swear jar.” I had my Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Aloysius after I was ordained a priest in May of 2011. I had my twin brother’s wedding there in August 2012.

@@DecadesofDecayUSA im not sure if anyone mentioned this but its a fun tidbit, St Als use to be the popes, when it transitioned to MQS it became the pheonixs, they held a big contest too letting the students pick the mascot through a random drawing. The gym was redone and everything! They were good at getting students involved most of the artwork on the walls was done by students, i know the boy who painted the lunchroom pheonix

I just found your videos. This is so cool. I attended Sunday School in that building as a child. Our family attended church in the lower level, that you called the Cafeteria, before the new church was built. Later in life, I was part of the Technology Committee for the Mary Queen of Saints school when it started at that location and the St Rita location. It was so weird being in that old school as an adult and helping to get the MQS school started. It's sad to see those rooms empty and damaged now. The good news is that the Mary Queen of Saints school is alive and well at it's third location in the Immaculate Heart of Mary building on 116th Street just North of Greenfield Avenue.

Great Video. My daughter was a student there from K5-graduation. It’s crazy to see the old rooms…I vividly remember the boiler room beigg by so loud when I had Girl Scout meetings in a basement room nearby! It’s crazy to see the beautiful old bookshelves and chalk boards all sitting there. I wonder why no one ever took the time to move things out? We were already gone when the school disassembled so I didn’t realize it was so sudden.

As someone who’s family was deeply involved in the success and downfalls of this school, and a graduate of here as well (my now-husband and I were classmates) this is very disheartening. The school was sold due to politics with the priest and neighboring parishes. The school (MQS) now operates out of an even worse building where they don’t even have a gym. I spent so much of my time here as a kid while my parents poured their hearts into keeping this amazing school afloat. So sad to see it lost by the selfish decision of others. If possible, I know my parents always wish they could walk through the halls once more.
