Maybe I haven't been all that fortunate in my 70 years; but how lucky I was to live in the ABBA era. They saved my life more than once!. Thank god for them!
I was in my twenties at the beginning of the ABBA era and never noticed them. I didn't find out who they were until I got curious decades later when they were turning up in my crossword puzzles. I didn't miss anything important.
It's interesting to know there was originally a whole different verse to the song. I just learned that.. ABBA was so huge in the late 70's when I was in elementary school. This song and Waterloo have been my 2 favorites since I was little. My parents had 8 track cassettes of ABBA
In 1976 when this song were released the Khmer Rouge had just renamed Cambodia to Democratic Kampuchea...& the nightmare were just getting started, the world has always had Heaven & Hell present in various places on the globe at the same time, Gaza & Ukraine for now, both yourself & I were fortunate to live through the ABBA period in relative peace & not be in another country where Hell were manifest! The World were never Universally Nice.
Just so you know, it is a music technician behind the Abba sound. His name is Michael B Tretow. Never forget him, because he created the so called Abba sound that you just listen to.
Superb. I have heard so many versions of Dancing Queen, not only by ABBA, with live and studio versions, but I've also listened to literally hundreds of covers, and even watched ABBA documentaries, and I have never heard this version before. Awesome. 💙 T.E.N.
Incredible performance from all,we only watch and listen what must they have felt like being abba ,we loved it and still do and I’m pretty sure they loved it too, best music makers of all time.
I love hearing this full version...it would have been great (perfect in fact) to have released the full song way back... the two first verses sound perfect together, follow on thematically! in the 'official' one, the two used verses are switched around because the (official) second verse would not have worked conceptually without that first (unofficial) one... Thank you for posting it!
Don't laugh but I'm a big fan of hard Rock. I love bands like Kiss AC DC Van Halen Aerosmith. But I absolutely love this song by Abba as a kid hearing it for the first time. I remember hearing it on the radio and humming alone thinking damn this is good
There are a lot of legendary Rockers and Metalheads amongst the ABBA fanbase. Gene Simmons, Corey Taylor, Dave Grohl, Ritchie Blackmore, Lemmy (RIP), Rob Halford, and many others have lauded them.. Whatever the music genre, a great melody, chord progressions, key changes and brilliant vocals can always be admired. There are a lot of really good Rock/Metal covers of ABBA songs about too..
ABBA was the first concert our daughter attended. She was still inside her pregnant mother but could feel the vibrations of the music as she bounced around inside. She obviously was having a good time, so much so that we left early because it was getting uncomfortable for mom. Our one and only dancing queen!
No auge do ABBA, um Jornalista estrangeiro perguntou a Rainha Sílvia. O que tinha de melhor na SUÉCIA ? Ela Foi agradavelmente enfática, O ABBA. Aos queridos fãs do ABBA, o meu abraço e carinho. FORTALEZA/BRASIL.
ABBA,been following the band for more than half a century, history proved to us that this is a band which can be remembered for life, all their songs are into every one’s life, amazingly how they did it, anyway I am only one of their fans, proud to be one of them though
Just stunning really. What ever style of music you love. These people were just somewhere else. If you’re at a boring party, if ABBA is played by the DJ. You’ve just get up and dance.
My favourite song ever, always wondered why they didn’t keep in the missing verse, I think you should’ve kept the original verse at the start though 😊🎼💞
Yeah it makes more sense to have the new verse later…it seems Friday night and the lights are low is the beginning of the Dancing Queens night out,,and the rest follows
Very good. I’ve seen a few attempts at this on RU-vid but yours sounds by far the best. Very convincing. Looks like you ‘borrowed’ one of those other channels videos? Seems fair though considering the intellectual property isn’t theirs to start with.
Dancing Queen wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last song cut down and rearranged to make a more compelling single. A couple other songs in the same situation that come to mind were Play That Funky Music and Year Of The Cat
