ABBA's catalogue of hits worldwide is huge and ridiculously good! They are the second biggest selling band in music history behind The Beatles. Their collection album ABBA Gold has been in the UK top 100 for over 1000 weeks and counting... Their 20 worldwide number 1's are a starting point ; Gimme Gimme Gimme, Mamma Mia, SOS, Dancing Queen, Fernando, Chiquitita, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money Money Money,, The Name of the Game, The Winner Takes it All, Super Trouper, Take a Chance on Me, I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do, One of Us, Ring Ring, Summer Night City, I have a Dream, Head Over Heels, Don't Shut Me Down. But really, dozens of other superb tracks including If It Wasn't For The Nights, Voulez Vous, I Am The City, Eagle, The Day Before You Came, Lay All Your Love On Me, So Long, Does Your Mother Know, ... you get the idea!
Thank heaven that I have no neighbours, coz my hifi goes up to 11 for ABBA. I'm one of the lucky ones going see their show in London in July. I think it'll be emotional
ABBA was really a very talented and versatile swedish group that recording between 1972/1982 (and now comeback in 2021) and leads in 70s decade: two excellent musicians songwriters (guitarist Björn & pianist Benny) two top female singers ( blonde Agnetha & brunette Frida ) (before ABBA they each had her solo career in Sweden) remember that ABBA is an acronim with initials of your first names, and was two couples from 1969: Agnetha & Björn; Benny & A.Frida Agnetha & Björn split at end 1978 Benny & Frida at begining of 1981 "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever" from the year before In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has ABBA was preparing their 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the video (remember that Agnetha and Björn were no longer a couple since the end of the previous year) This is the only video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio, including staff musicians (bass guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector) The vídeo is a short versión, the recording of the single is more than 4 1/2 minutes (with a solo instrumental) The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of Benny's keyboards, is what Madonna used for her well-known hit "Hung Up" (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits) Surely for the latter, this is the second official ABBA video with the most views on RU-vid (behind "Dancing Queen", which has almost 590 million views) For a new reaction I suggest: Fernando (1976), with the brunette Frida as lead singer, so You can listen the other voices of ABBA Thank you again for these video See you in the next GOD bless you
Unfortunately, in the official video of this song, they only show the first part of the song. The second part is where the bridge starts, they, unfortunately, cut it off. The whole song is actually longer. The entire song with the bridge included is on the Abba hits album only.
Björn och Benny is the ones behind ex Chess and other big musicals. If you would like more swedish stars, you can listen to "Du måste finnas" or "You have to be there" with Helene Sjöholm
They really enjoyed the creative process in writing songs and then getting them right in the studio. Touring was necessary, but it was kept to a minimum. Hence all the music videos, I guess. They were early with that, at least here in Sweden.
I know.... I'm freaking late to this one (by a day!🙄)!! Sorry and Holy crap Biz!!🤯 5 vids yesterday and 5 tonight (Foreigner, Van Halen etc.)!! Dude, I'm struggling to get one lately, never mind 10 uploads in less than 2 days!!😅 Anyway, great picks on all of them!!👏👏👏 OK, maybe not ABBA, they were a little too "disco" for my tastes!!🤷♀️😂 Even as a very young child (when this song came out) I just didn't vibe with it.... my mom loved it though! While my Mom was listening to disco and Pop, my Dad was jamming to Zeppelin etc.... that was more my vibe!!🤗😁 Anyway, great reaction!!👍 I have some SERIOUS catching up to do this weekend!! I promise💯 I will get to all of them and OF COURSE leave my usual long-azz comments!😜🤣😂 You rock Biz!!👊❤
