Only for a short time unfortunately the only time they were in shape is when they made their album in the 80s that had some of their best songs, Never ,Alone, this dreams and there was another big hit. But before that album and after that album Ann always had a weight problem, I actually thought that she got skinny because of too many drugs and she gain all the weight back when she slow down her drug addiction. As a duo I pick Abba but as a solo singer Ann Wilson is one of the best along with the late Dolores from the cranberries amazing performer.

The under-appreciated and almost invisible presence, Rutger Gunnarsson playing bass. He was with Bjorn back before ABBA in the hootenanny days and contributed so much musically to the ABBA sound. He also arranged the strings here and on other songs by the band. Passed away in 2015.

This is real music, no Autotune, no effects, just pure God given talent. I love the music of ABBA and I know, always will. As a Filipino, I can also recommend our Filipino band, REO Brothers as well, they follow in this tradition that ABBA follows, no gimmicks, FX or what not. May ABBA’s music last for centuries. God Bless them.

I kind of love this footage. Bjorn and Benny are clearly having the time of their lives and those sweeping low angle shots make Frida and Agnetha look like goddesses.

I doubt it. Look at how even shows like entourage, which was such a great hit for HBO is all but forgotten. Computers save things, but in so doing, there’s more data than anyone could possibly, but I feel you, they’re certainly worth of remembrance!

I remember when game of thrones went off at 10:00 or 11:00 and I could see it 10 mInutes later! 😂 but still even shows like the sopranos became legendary even though o one had HBO.
Not one before and not one since. That Abba sound can't be replicated. No one would even try to imitate them simply because it is well nigh impossible. They are truly unique.

I liken the ABBA girls to the American brothers duo, The Louvin Brothers. The brothers had two different voice types, just like the ABBA girls did. The timing between The Louvin Brothers is legendary. The ABBA girls are rare because they are not siblings, but mesh like they are siblings singing together since childhood. It's very impressive.
Absolutely! So that's what Frida's voice sounds like! Rather erotic--in a musical sense. (I always had the hots for Frida). And Agnetha's voice soars on the top end . I fully agree these two talented singers, & DA*N fine looking too, complemented each other EXTREMELY well. They were/are(?) darlings of Europe; I think I first heard them when I was in Deutschland, in 1975. Can't recall the song, but I loved it. I love this song's lyrics-sad, down to earth, & tell a story of how the sh*t just hit the fan & here comes "Splitsville". Reminds me of a song by Annie Lennox(SHE'S Great!) done much later, "No More I Love Yous" (Very sad song; agony from breaking up-I could really relate to the feeling for a while, going back).

See her 1967 National TV appearance. She had just won National Best Vocalist and was put on Live National TV. That high note is a sustained Eb6, which is 3 semi-tones above high C (C6). She goes through her range, low-high. A vocally technical jazz piece. Not a sing-songy pop song. It is impressive. On LIVE TV. The ABBA girls sang lots of unison in the high range. This is where the sparkle happens. See Bjorn interview on talk about Frida's "special" high end edge/metallic sound. Michael Tretow ABBA's engineer also talks about the unison upper pitch magic. Also, ABBA switched high notes when they harmonized. Frida taking high end, while Agnetha taking the lower part. It mixed things up. Agnetha had a higher middle voice, so she had the shorter distance to travel on ABBA's high pitch unison songs, which they had tons. Frida's range was large, so she could match Agnetha, but had the longer distance to cover. ____ Re: Louvin Brothers The short Louvin brother could not reach Ira's top end, the taller one. Tall brother took upper. Short brother took lower. I just can't believe that this era has passed so quickly but also happy to relive it through u tube and all the wonderful videos I was especially attracted to the georgeous Frida .Call it a crush or something else loved her then and still love her now even at 75 I absolutely beautiful woman
