My mum has just died and I gave this a listen, it was our song. We used to put the PS3 on, on the weekends and we’d play singstar and me an her would belt our absolute hearts out to this song, proper going for it - I bet the neighbours hated us for it :,) it’s not easy to listen to anymore, especially on the long note. My mum could nail it every single time without fail, she had such a beautiful voice. I feel like what's missing from a lot of modern songs is the tone. Many songs would rather have a catchy tune than have music that actually makes you feel something. ABBA was great at crafting songs that not only sound good, but also create emotions within you.

I’m 29 and have been obsessed with ABBA since I was like 12 or 13. It’s almost impossible for me to not well up when I hear this song. I was so touched when I saw Meryl singing this in Mamma Mia when the first movie came out -and since then every time I hear either version of this song I‘m heart-wrenchingly touched to tears

2021 Somebody still listening to real music

Been listening to this song for decades now, but I particularly loved the way they used it in Better Call Saul. The scene says so much about the dynamics between Jimmy McGill and his brother. The way Jimmy takes pity of Chuck and reaches out to him, inviting him onstage and seeking for the approval he'll never get. Eventually to get upstaged by Chuck, who sings better than him (and Michael McKean is a bona fide great singer). Congrats to the writers for saying so much with one song (and to ABBA too, obvs).

ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus wrote this after separating from wife and fellow band member, Agnetha Fältskog. It's about a divorce where one person doesn't want to separate and clings desperately to the marriage. It put Agnetha in the strange spot of being asked to sing a breakup song written by her ex-husband. Ulvaeus didn't intend it this way. He explained: "I sang a demo of it myself which a lot of people liked and said, you have to sing that. But I saw the sensible thing of course, it had to go to Agnetha. I remember coming to the studio with it and everyone said, Oh this is great, wonderful It was strange hearing her singing it. It was more like an actress doing something when she sang it, but deeply moving. Afterwards there were a few tears as well."
