First time hearing "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL" by ABBA. This is now my favourite ABBA song. if you enjoyed this video please like, comment and subscribe and send in your requests! #abba #abbareaction #thewinnertakesitall
Agnetha is a pitch perfect , perfect Pitch Soprano WITH a B 2 to F 7 range ...The largest in over 40 years of POP music...Twice inside of 15 seconds she hits and holds a 5 second F6 ...Thats singing
I don't think I've ever had so much to say about a song like I have this one, it was INCREDIBLE. my favourite by ABBA for sure. What else would you like me to react to?
Indeed - this song is fantastic, a true masterpiece. This kind of expression in the stories is why I think Agnetha is the best female singer in the pophistory. More heartbreaking songs? - why not check in ”My Love, My Life”, ”One Of Us” or ”Slipping Through My Fingers?”? Three less known masterpieces (than this one) with Agneta in the lead vocal.
if you want to see how ABBA started, their first single was "People need love" (1972) which has a video of their first television appearance as a quartet
I like what you did with this video, great reaction. Another great Agentha vocal performance, there are several, is "My love, my life" though that is more an out and out ballad.
I am so happy to have grown up (today I am 57 years old) listening to this group, part of my childhood, adolescence and later my youth, when they were already separated as a group and their music continued to play, already converted into classics... I was always impressed the versatility of the band, the quality of the girls' voices, absolutely clean and perfect in every way. and finally the diversity of rhythms, together with the variety of topics that they used to make their songs, clearly all this produces what they are finally CLASSICS. There will be nothing remotely as musically or artistically productive.
This song has made my organs wobble for more than 40 years. The sound of agony set to music. How could Bjorn have asked Agnetha to sing those lyrics after their divorce? How could Agnetha sing them so full of agony? ABBA never sounded more real. This will never get old.
There are so many hits by so many bands. But this is something else. Its eternal and supreme. Its actually hard to get how timeless this is. And Agnethas voice... ABBA 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪❤️❤️❤️
This song is the synergy of 4 exceptionally gifted artists, producing something that is sublime and also reflecting their personal lives at that time. Every ingredient that went into this song was as good as it could be and the genuine raw emotion elevates it beyond a pop record. Truly exceptional and a song that hits you hard ❤
ABBA in the begining two swedish couples: Agnetha (blonde singer) & Björn (guitarist songwriter) Benny (pianist songwriter) & Anni Frida (brunette singer) both couples separated before the breakup of ABBA in 1982: Agnetha & Björn at end of 1978 Benny & Frida at begin 1981 "The winner takes it all" (1980) is one of the Best Songs by ABBA and the Most sad and emotional too The best lyrics by the guitarist Björn and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the lead singer Agnetha Fältskog and her soprano voice The lyrics is a fiction about a divorce, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce between Agnetha & Björn in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978 In fact, the song was more nearly in time to the split of Benny & Frida as a couple, only a few months later The Official Video have more than 120 millions views in RU-vid, was filmed on July 12 (1980), is a Masterpiece as the song it shows the blonde singer Agnetha alone so sad and remembering happy times, and the others members so nice together, a perfect example of contrast feelings It's the first ABBA vídeo with images in black and white about Their previous history, to introduce us in the context; I think it's their best official video but just as a great performance by Agnetha is seen in these video, almost like a dramatic actress, transmitting the sorrow, anguish and pain, (there are also videos in the back room of the filming, which show the four cheerful and fun) "The winner takes it all" return ABBA to the Top of the charts, gives ABBA their eighth #1 in UK after almost two years and half Also was the fourth and last Top10 to ABBA in U.S (pick at #8 in 1981) and #1 in US Adult Contemporary too "The winner takes it all" was voted the Best ABBA song by the British fans, and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha and now in the new Voyage concerts at London the encore song is... "The winner takes it all" I wish to You a greatest week my best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina 🇦🇷 South América
Definitely one of Agnetha’s finest vocal performances on an ABBA record. Hats off to Benny too with that piano which really coveys the sadness of the song. All rounded off with that fantastic video capturing the sadness in Agnetha’s face
"I Still Have Faith In You" from their last album "Voyager"; voice and lyrics are as beautiful as ever. "My Love My Life" showcases Agnetha 's voice whilst "Money. Money, Money" brings out the true talent in Frida's voice.
In any case you are right.. a very special song, unique and texted, written, arranged and SUNG 😍 at the highest level. Then I think of *My love, my life* as a recommendation
This song was written by Bjorn after his divorce from Agnatha and that is why it is so emotional. Another song to listen to is When All Is Said And Done which is about the break up of Benny and Anni-Frid marriage song of course by Anni-Frid. Another great emotional song is Slipping Through My Fingers which was inspired by Bjorn watching his and Agnatha’s daughter going to school and growing up so quickly. The Winner Takes It All has been voted on numerous occasions as the Fans best ABBA song.
Perfect description. This song is life affirming, it celebrates life in all its emotional scale and grandeur. You feel sad but at the same time you want to live and you feel happiness when hearing this pop masterpiece. You feel beauty in this song and you feel happy for experiencing such beauty. It’s true ABBA classic and pop music masterpiece.
Her voice is beautiful. Her husband Bjorn wrote the song. It is assumed the song was about their relationship breakdown. Later on Frida and Benny broke up too.
A side comment Many times ABBA fans ask for the reaction to "The winner takes it all" in the first or second time that the reactors listen to ABBA I am one of those who believe that this song must be heard after at least five other notable ABBA songs. And in your case it happened, this is your ninth ABBA song and now you can understand more the music of ABBA in its depth and your reaction is absolutely emotional, it touched your soul and heart congratulations, enjoy it but there is still more in the way of ABBA, even some live performances worth seeing
A masterpiece 👌 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Try 'Knowing me knowing you' 'Sleeping through my fingers' 'Super Trouper' 'Voulez Vous' 'Lay your love on me' 'People need love'..... etc... etc ❤️🇨🇱👍
I agree with you. This is a masterpiece of song writing amazing change in mood with the tempo change, just heartfelt and emotional. I hear an interview with Björn who said they worked hard to perfect their music and lyrics to effect the right sound. This is the perfect example.
I think I Let The Music Speak is an underrated song worth reacting to. Every verse and chorus is a surprise. When you think it's going one way it changes direction
I remember back in 1980 some kinda 'cultural' kinda 'influential' 'music journalist' reviewing the ST album stating about TWTIA,'this is mediorce with cheesy-silly' lyrics'.I'm so proud that 43 years after, time still proved him wrong and people still get affected by its impact while he might be remembered only for his cold-hearted, venomous attitude.Such people were a real nightmare for us at the time being teenagers growing up loving Abba's music and having to defend what was obvious for us.A unique, phenomenally great pop group.
Great réaction ❤ For sure the winner takes it all IS just a masterpiece ,agnetha voice IS incredible, surely the most beloved song by fan and the others too Personnaly one song only touch me deeper and it s the other abba masterpiece The day before you came And with the voyage album i have to chose dont shut me down to close my top 3 abba emotionnal songs❤❤❤ Thanks to share abba music Alain from France
Cause she was actually going through it. Her husband, who wrote the songs and this song when they were going through a divorce. She sang it though but it was her whole soul in it.
Was voted the UK's favourite song by ABBA, it's so beautiful. Their album 'Arrival' has so many brilliant songs to react to. So many of their songs are underrated 'The Day Before you Came' is amazing and complex, and of course all the famous ones that were featured on 'Abba Gold' and 'More Abba Gold... for a band that was about 40 plus years ago and again more recently and the show in London, you can see why 385 Million Album sales Worldwide shows what a massive fanbase they've had over the years and it's just growing with the Abba Voyage show... just stunning vocals and music
Thx . "SOS "is another track where Agnetha is particularly expressive and touching in her interpretation, there is also "slipping through my fingers" live BBC TV. Tried!
This song is my most fav ABBA song with Agneta on lead vocals, "Super Trouper" is my most fav with Frida on leads, and "Chiquititta" is the best song with their singing and harmonizing together. ABBA foreva!
This is one of the greatest breakup anthems in music and one of Abba's signature song concerning the same situation together with 'Knowing me Knowing you' with Frida on the lead. Both videos very impactful too.
I highly recommend listening and watching: «Hasta Mañana», «Dance (While The Music Still Goes On)», «I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do», «Eagle», «One Man, One Woman», «Andante, Andante», «Happy New Year», «Our Last Summer», «When All Is Said and Done», «One of Us», «Like An Angel Passing Through My Room» 👋
The term masterpiece has been devalued of late with people labeling it around way, way too often. It should be rarely used for very few special songs of an artist's catalogue, otherwise it becomes meaningless. Winner Takes It All, along with Dancing Queen, are Abba's masterpieces. They sit above all the other Abba songs where every individual element is near on perfect and as we have seen and hear, still resonate near 50 years later.
I do not agree so much ABBA really has more Masterpieces: S.O.S. (the greatest of all) Waterloo (yes, there is no mistake) The name of the game Chiquitita and the recent Don't shut me down for me also are into that category: the Seven Wonders of ABBA
@@eduardooscar309 I, too could come up with many more, but I just feel you've got to limit it despite many worthy contenders. In affect, I would say these 6 or 7 are the very very best but I have to say you can only name a couple for a term that must be exclusive and rarely used. Of course it's subjective to the listener but it usually will coalesce around few common nominations. It's a horrible choice when you think of what you have to leave out.
Hello again Zeddy 😀 "Knowing Me, Knowing You"...is another classic break up Song from ABBA, this time sung by Frida (lead Vocals) but released a few years earlier and a classic video to accompany it, it's a must see. 🇬🇧🤗
WOW! What a genuine and heartfelt reaction! This is hands-down the best review of the song, that I have ever heard. You accurately touched all bases in the beauty and emotion of MY favorite ABBA song, too. Many thanks for yiur honest approach and real expressions. This is a classic and so underrated. Happy to see it being rediscovered by young guys like you!
Hello again Zeddy 😀 I was 19yrs old when this was released and it Still brings me to tears today....can I suggest that you listen to some of their Album tracks that are just as phenomenal as their singles... To many to list but they're classics, "Eagle", Move On", "The Visitors ", ...the list is endless. Looking forward to your reaction to ABBA, "The Movie", as I said in a previous comment stunning live performances,. Enjoy 🤗 🇬🇧😀
Just about every song is exciting. The Visitors is also an excellent song and well ahead of its time. It never really hit here in the USA the charts, except for "underground " night clubs of the day. I was blown away when I heard The Visitors. It was a new direction for them.
Indeed - this song is fantastic, a true masterpiece. This kind of expression in the stories is why I think Agneta is the best female singer in the pophistory. More heartbreaking songs? - why not check in ”My Love, My Life”, ”One Of Us” or ”Slipping Through My Fingers?”? It’s three less known masterpieces (than this one) with Agnetha in the lead vocal. Frida is great aswell - check When All Is Said And Done or why not the hidden gem Our Last Summer? Need a few for a wedding aswell? Watch ”I’ve Been Waiting For You” or ”I do, I do, I do, I do, I do”.
Thank you for the reaction. I would like to hear your thoughts of When all is said and done and Knowing me Knowing you with Frida singing the lead, Eagle and The day before you came. Absolutely fantastic songs with brilliant lead vocals and harmonies.
Try listening too Dont shut me down , from their new album voyage , their first music in over 40 years, in their mid 70's now and still sound good with that unmistakable ABBA sound
Ok, I “liked” all your reaction videos and subscribed. You’ve earned it. C’mon listeners……join me please. Show this boy some love. Hit those buttons. Now Zeddy, please do me a favor. Put on some anti-persistent and listen to “Hole in Your Soul” (studio version). It should have been the follow up single to “Take a Chance on Me” and it could have been a huge chart topper. It has great propulsion, a stunning interlude, a toe curling screamer of a high note, and a glorious fade out. An absolutely brilliant song that has been been displaced as my number one favorite since the day I first heard it
Mate, I`ve been trawling through reactions to this song, which is my favourite, and your reaction is the best, out of about 30 plus. The reason I think it`s the best reaction is that you don`t know what to say. It`s like being blinded by beauty.
I am not aware of any real live performance. I'm sure you mean the German TV ZDF Show Express 1980 performance Winner+Trouper+On And On, but this was playback. You can never perform a song like Winner 1:1. Interesting was the 1982 farewell gig there with Day+Cassandra+Attack, where ABBA recorded new versions (obviously at song transitions, especially Attack), but it's clear to me that this was pre-recorded. Have fun with good music
