Honestly man I’ve never seen ABBA play I understand why he likes ABBA especially live, it sounds like their was more woman in the band I thought more than two lol
I was 15 in 1975. Those were the days. Listening to ABBA on A.M. radio on a transistor radio too boot. Life , up to that point, didn’t get any better. Really.
No worries. Rockers like Townshend, Blackmore and Lemmy are/were big ABBA fans too. And I‘ve read that Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten had a cassette of their songs and even went to an ABBA concert!
I watched this as a 19 year old back in 1975. I never knew what it was like to have a crush on a female intertainer, until I saw that blond! She kind of remanded me of a young Brigitte Bardot. God was good to her!
Anni-Frid and Agnetha are two of the most talented and beautiful performers ever; their joint decade-long involvement in ABBA is the greatness of ABBA (never mind the brilliant song-writing and lyrics of Benny & Bjorn)
Great market awareness on the their part. They kept themselves off to the sides in the background and let the 2 beautiful ladies take front center stage ;)
Taking nothing away from the catchy pop tunes, they are immenently reproducable by talented musicians. On the other hand, the vocal harmony between those two women is statistically comparable to finding another planet with sentient life. Plan and simple anything those two women do together will sound like ABBA, and any attempt by vocalists to reproduce it will not.
I was 18 years old living in Germany in 1975. As an American just coming over to that amazing country to live, I had never heard of Abba . One night I was at a disco and no one was dancing until this group came on and I kid you not, every girl got up to dance. I had never seen anything like this before and was amazed at what I had witnessed. I soon came to love their music and spent many nights dancing away to their songs. It was a fun time!
Americans always occupying and oppressing their conquered subjects. I am glad that your lot is mostly out of Germany, since all you did was pillage, rape and destroy that country. Yankees out!
Abba's music is like the early Beatles, melodies, rhythms and voices that are so infectious that they fill you with utter joy, as those two tall gorgeous girls do. They are forever just like the Fab Four!
The women had such great athletic bodies and good singing voices. The men were talented song writers and musicians. Small wonder ABBA was so successful!
It doesn't get any better than this! In the early 70's my father gave his new platform boots for my 17th birthday. (he was a professional musician) and I was ecstatic! I walked around town on the weekends with a PIMP hat and was the cock of the walk since platform boots and shoes were relatively new. You may not understand unless you were raised and watched the world change from the 60's to the 70's and embarrassed the 80's. (what a great era for music)
My eldest sister had these outfits made for her and her best friend in the late 70s! I have the photo of them as teenagers going to a party in them. Abba is big in our household!
This is unison. Unison is singing the exact same pitch/Hz. Harmony is when one sings the root note and the other sings above/below the root in the correct mathematical ratio or it will clash with the root note.
The late 70s and early 80s featured some of the best music ever and some of the most beautiful women singing it - Agnetha and Annifrid, Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Kate Bush, Pat Benatar, Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart)....and so on. Ah, those were the days!
I remember watching this live as a child with my papaw on a Saturday morning. He hated modern music. I asked him if he liked ABBA after watching this.....he said, "I'd like them a whole lot more if the blonde would have sung the entire song turned around backwards". I never understood what he meant by that until I watched this video again as grown man. My grandfather was a wise old sage. lol

I was a teenager watching them on the Eurovision song contest. It was so clear that this song was going to win. It was mesmerizing.. I don't remember any birds with beards or blokes with big hair and make up, or brainless heavy metal noise. it was quite enjoyable. You couldn't pay me to watch it now.
@@bostoncityofchampions6581 doesn't matter, those are their voices. Besides lip syncing for live performances that are televised were fairly common back then.
Remember this song being played at the public swimming pool as I was swimming with my friends and eating ice cream sandwiches at the concession stand area. WHAT A GREAT MEMORY. WISH I COULD GET IT BACK.
I was 5 year old boy in 1975 when this performance was, it was an unforgettable LP of ABBA I had found in my aunt's room after 2 or 3 years after 1975. It was also unforgettable sound since ever in my life.
Cool video. Great music. Neat old song. Super vocals. Never saw this group in person. Only heard them on the radio. Lots of talent in that band. Fun song to listen to. Thanks for the look back.
