I was in my youngest music-listening years back then but ABBA always gave the same fun-catchy-great music vibes as ELO did. I wonder if they ever toured together because it seems like a perfect match.
ABBA's '70s outfits are an iconic spot in pop music culture. Now they are selected along with part of their historical studio recording equipementand , exposed in the famous ABBA museum in Stockholm.A precious monumental rertro collectiva that wraps a whole glorious era in it.A 'universal treasure' in the musicverse.
That was just one year after their big breakthru.Just wait till you see what happened 2 years later in their filmed ABBA The Movie '77 tour .Hysteria,'obsessed' fainting fans even watching them live under torental rain all in the mud.Thousands within the stadiums and thousands outside too.
Thanks, lovely Dani .. Can't go wrong with ABBA ! .. They have a huge list of classic songs, with both well known hits and amazing hidden gems .. Please keep the ABBA reactions going. 🙏🙏🙏
Great song and great reaction. So happy you are going down the ABBA rabbit hole. You knew they were 2 married couples from Sweden right? Ani-frid aka Frida the auburn haired girl, married Benny the pianist and Agnetha the blonde girl married Bjorn the guitarist. That's where the name ABBA comes from, their first initials in their first names. Sooo mamy hits. They have sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more. Please do "Fernando " and for a lively discount dancing song try "If it wasn't for the nights" the live version from Japan is best in my opinion. And of course their iconic song "Dancing queen". Oh and those cat dresses also have a much longer skirt that fastened with velcro at the waist and the girls could take them off to reveal these micro mini dresses
In 1974 they won both the national song contest in Sweden and the worldwide famous Eurovision contest with this song Waterloo. Then a 15 year old boy I was suddenly, madly in love with Agnetha. Like so many people I could't sleep the night for her !
Hello Dani, nice to see you again with reactions to ABBA songs "Waterloo" (1974) is one of my favorites, and is in my Top 5 of all ABBA songs (with S.O.S. , Dancing Queen, The winner takes it all & Don't shut me down) and I think that is the song that change history, not only for ABBA, for Sweden and Eurovision too "Waterloo" was the song that ABBA wrote especially to participate in the annual Eurovision Song Contest By the rules of the competition the songs could not exceed 3 minutes (that its 2:46) and ABBA made a masterpiece! ABBA sing it in Swedish, for the local selection in Sweden (February 1974) and finally ABBA sing it in English in the final held in England (April 1974) before 16 interpreters and songs from all over Europe "Waterloo" and ABBA win Eurovision for the first time for Sweden It will be Their first big worldwide hit: #1 in UK and half Europe (also South Africa), and Top 10 in U.S., Canada, Australia , New Zealand and the rest of Europe ABBA recording "Waterloo" in swedish, english, german and french Several years later, in 2005, to the 50th Eurovision anniversary, "Waterloo" was chosen as the Best Song in all the history of Eurovisión and next year will be the 50th anniversary of ABBA's victory Eurovision take place in Sweden and we hope an special homenage to ABBA these is a perfomance in August 1975 at Norway ABBA had previously sung "S.O.S." and "I do I do I do I do I do" At that time ABBA was still looking for its second hit, a year and a half after having won Eurovision. and a few weeks later "S.O.S." entered the world charts, and began ABBA's uninterrupted series of hits between 1975/1982. That's why my suggestion is that you make a reaction to "S.O.S." i hope you have a nice weekend Kind regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South América
Early ABBA is pure, unadulterated pop - guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Later songs were deeper and often filled with emotion - but are similarly great. Try "Ring Ring" or "SOS" for their earlier style, or "The Name of the Game", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", or the eerie "The Visitors" for their later work.
Those are the famous 'catsuits' ( the short version) of Agnetha 🩷 & Frida❤ (1974) The international takeoff of ABBA... Next year marks 50 years since his Eurovision victory with 'Waterloo'... and the Eurovision contest takes place in Stockholm, Sweden. We really look forward to seeing them there (the 4 of them).🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀 Good react Dani, by the way😄... Love ❤️ from Chile 🤗😘👍
So catchy! Fabulous vocal harmony and superb instrumentation, ABBA at their best. I managed to follow the music in spite of the distraction of those gorgeous ladies in their sexy short catsuits. Wow, just wow!
Nice with another great ABBA-reaction from you Dani. Please keep the ABBA reactions going. 🙏 I suggest --> When all is said and done - Lay All Your Love On Me - The Day Before You Came - If it wasnt for the nights (video from japan tv-show).
@@christianoazzuro6711Well you opinion is as valid as mine but I would definitely disagree. The official video is the worse they made IMO and the lyric video is basically that with lyrics and some graphics.
@@Muckylittleme Hi there Dan.Well at the time this promo film was considered kinda cool regarding that 'new mirror effect".But it was kinda static for such a big, majestic song.Lyric video seems improved to my eyes with those retro mid '70s 'tapestry' and less static considering the motion of the graphics(.Again just my subjective perception so nothing to be taken seriously, lol)Hugs.
@@Muckylittleme p.s.. btw I LUV the Live version as filmed in the 1977 Aussie tour from ABBA The Movie".Had seen it first time in the summer of 1981 in a local open air cinema while we were on holidays with my cousins. We had a euphoric, nostalgic shock not knowing that Abba were about to end one year after.
@@christianoazzuro6711 Yeah I get that, I'm kinda old 😁 But this seemed a low effort production for ABBA and I can't forgive the idea of distorting Agnetha and Frida's beautiful faces into freaks, a very odd artistic choice. Just because aa new artistic tool comes along doesn't mean you have to use it or if you do then use it in an appropriate way. I think most of their official videos are great taking account of the fact music videos weren't a ting back then, they were pioneers and had great production values which just makes the official video to SOS all the more annoying for me. Haha, it's all good though. Take care.
If you get to listen to 'See My Baby Jive' from the band 'Wizzard' from the year before this, you'll see where ABBA got their inspiration from. ABBA were struggling to get a hit song until they heard the 'Wizzard' song. They liked the sound and came up with a similar sound for 'Waterloo'. The rest is history, as they say 😊
I love how you COMPLETELY ignored the message of the song, which is *hated* by feminists!! Lol. Surrendering to a man who loves you, and receiving him as it were. Feminist obsession with power struggles can’t handle that… but in Nature it’s exactly what happens. Just saying… great song!!
