Unveiling the Abbey Road Orchestra 1st Violins
Spitfire Audio has just launched their most ambitious project yet: the "Abbey Road Orchestra 1st Violins".
This is a first impressions vid where I dive deep into a world where up to 196,000 samples meet over 60 hours of recording and a whopping 2000+ hours of meticulous editing.
Their aim with this series is to create the ultimate orchestral sample library.
This library has been structured into two comprehensive tiers - Core and Professional. With the Core, you're looking at a diverse range of articulations, unparalleled sampling depth, and a curated signal option by the renowned Simon Rhodes. On the flip side, the Professional tier is truly a masterpiece! We're talking 8 unique legato articulations, exceptional sampling depth, 16 signal options, and alternative attacks that bring out the deepest of expressions.

I have it, I love it, it’s my new main Violin patch without a doubt and I do have all the others, I’m not sure I need the full orchestra at this detail for violins and maybe cellos I do

I appreciate your nuanced walkthrough. This is an instrument and truly requires playing into the instruments strengths. Ive found the cut and paste walkthroughs, demos less illuminating. This is good here. Happy purchase. Expensive though.

i feel like this has been plaguing spitfire's string libraries for the longest time, but I've experienced the issue with other libraries too, like audio imperia's nucleus, as well as almost 100% of spitfire's string libraries. which is too bad, because i generally like the tone/detail/whatever of their string libraries, even the longs, it's just always the legatos that seem to have these weird artificial bumps for me, that don't seem to pop up in some other libraries

@@kahahabahaha truth be told, all of the competing libraries have their own set of issues, inconsistencies, etc. But considering the size of Spitfire as a company, and the high price tag attached with these "premium" prodcuts, I expect way better R&D and quality control.

My biggest frustration with SF products and why I’m moving away from them. I just want strings that you can ACTUALLY play and not tweak for 20 minutes because your melody does more than half notes at 80bpm.

What mouse is that you're using Marc? Is it good for your wrist? I'm using a 45 degree angled mouse to help my wrist ache, but i'd love more buttons like yours! :) Thanks as always for the videos

Hey, Marc, I watched with intrigue this video and your reaction to the quality of the library. I own EW Hollywood Orchestra OPUS Edition and have a few of the Spitfire libraries as well. I've been experimenting with trying to replicate the sound of the song "Rewrite the Stars (from "The Greatest Showman") in the linked video starting at 1:20:38, and I just can't figure out if it is even possible. In your honest opinion (or anyone else reading this), would it be possible to even remotely replicate the sound of the strings in this rendition using the best Spitfire has to offer, or any other sample library? Are we at that point yet? I'd love to hear what you think. Also, thanks for your videos. The are a gold mine of knowledge. I found myself for the first time not thinking about which articulation to load (for an idea you haven’t even written) which I’ve always found annoying. The performance legato is so playable you simply forget all that stuff and just play what you like how are you like

@@houdinididiit indeed, they put out a new library too often instead of updating current libraries. I prefer companies like Cinematic Series or Project Sam. Cinesamples are good people too but no updates, they really should work on that Taylor Davis violin (it kind of sucks) i bought it on sale luckily. Would not recommend. Luckily i have Josh Bell Violin from Embertone now as a lead, it's epic. Othere companies i love would be Heavyocity, Emergence Audio, Impact Soundworks, Evolution Series intruments. Best Service have some killer libraries too like Forest Kingdom is something i really want soon.

It’s not about money more how much time your going to save doing a mock up , I spend forever, messing with string sounds that don’t quite sound natural. This is so easy to play and program
