Imagine saying to these guys, “Sorry, but it’s 2021 now, and nothing’s changed.”

Whether you agree with them or not, they at least made it plain that it was their OPINION.

It is a tragedy that RFK deliberately requested no security be provided by the LAPD for his campaign swing through California. This was done for political purposes to appeal to his base of supporters. The man who assassinated him did so in retaliation for his support in the senate for the sale of military aircraft to Israel after the Six Day War. Sirhan Sirhan was a Jordanian immigrant and the first Arab terrorist assassin in the United States. He could easily have been stopped by proper security in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel that evening.

Even more interesting are those whose editorialized it after George Wallace was shot.

Yeah a few times, that doesn't discount the hundred million legal gun owners who are law abiding citizens. Do you also believe we should make abortion illegal because of the times it was undertaken by irresponsible women and were not medical necessities? Because If the whole " a few bad apples spoil the bunch" philosophy is applied to a constitutional right, should be unilaterally applied to everything. How about speech? because someone somewhere has slandered another party should we just do away with the first amendment? Or is that just a little to much critical thinking for you to wrap your brain around?

@@baronvonsnazzy3355 Who said anything about making guns illegal? That's the problem with NRA-style arguments--they are hysterical and not fact-based.

@@johnbaxter3092 that is a talking point John, some limit their purposed ban on "semi automatic rifles" while some are saying "semi automatics" which is 90% of all civilian firearms today, which would effectively be a ban on the second amendment.

@@baronvonsnazzy3355 Any serious gun control legislation would obviously seek to ban only semi automatic rifles. We had such a ban in place for years and nobody's 2nd Amendment rights were infringed.

We need an assault weapons ban/large magazine ban. We need a thorough 30 day waiting period for a handgun purchase for a local police background check. We should also raise the age for owning a firearm to 21 years old. We also need a serious national background check law with a ten day waiting period for all rifles. A high tax on handguns, all semiautomatic firearms and gun/rifle ammunition would also be a good idea. We need a public health care approach to gun violence. We have lost one million Americans killed since John Lennon's death in 1980. America seems pathetic on the gun issue but the laws listed above can lower aggregate gun violence rates over a period of time.
