ABC Soup- packed with Vitamins A, B and C, is no stranger to Malaysians, especially the Chinese households. I grew up eating this and still is! Now Raju also grew into liking the soup as well. What’s not to love anyway, plenty of nutrients and it’s a complete meal cuz there’s meat in it as well. Very hydrating cuz… it’s soup! Mama Ong’s version is EXTRA UMAMI AND EXTRA SWEET, thanks to Si Chuan pickled vege (normal ABC soup won’t have it) that has some kicks to its flavour other than umami cuz it’s marinated in chilli paste and get this fun fact- apparently the process of this pickled vege is similar to Kimchi.

Ingredients:
-Si Chuan pickled vege (one biji for 2 person soup, multiply the quantity if cooking for more people, the unused ones can freeze it until you need it again)
-Holland onion 🧅 (for distinct sweetness, just add more je, 1 whole onion for 1 pax)
-Ginger (no need a lot, just 2 or 3 slices)
-Garlic (no need a lot, just 2 or 3 cloves) 🧄
-Tomato 🍅
-Potato 🥔
-Carrot 🥕
-Corn 🌽
-Shitake mushrooms
-Protein: Whole chicken leg for our Muslim friends or pork for our non Muslim friends
🔸I pressure cooked for 15 minutes
🔸Stove cook is 30 minutes

About the part I said I used to eat this to lose weight- it’s true. I had this everyday for 10 days (including 2 cheat days) but omit out the pickled vege and swap to brown rice or China Barley, cuz it’s always good to have less sodium and less carbs in diet food. I also went through intermittent fasting as well as light exercise for at least 5 days throughout the whole 10 days. I lost more than 4 kg. I know many Muslim friends will try to diet to lose weight this Ramadan and this seems like the perfect healthy diet meal; but hey, please make sure you do own own research first to ensure it is suitable for you ya.
