I grew up watching Peter Jennings. What a talented anchor.

I go all the way back to the days of Frank Reynolds in Washington, DC; Max Robinson in Chicago and Peter Jennings in London long before Peter anchored this newscast solo in the late 80's.

Never heard of this but I love the middle part. Sounds like local news. Would go nicely as a closing theme, fading out with a closing montage of the day's human interest stories or a shot of the New York skyline.

I'm glad David Muir brought this back. He does a quick close every night but I think he should end WNT using @2:28

My all-time favorite news themes are the various iterations of CBS Enforcer (local) and the NBC News theme composed by John Williams (network), but I love this almost as much as I love the NBC News theme. It comes in second place, in my book, but (a) only by the slimmest of margins, and (b) I mean, come on... John Williams!

at the 1:07 mark - I see aerial shots of every part of America (statue of liberty, Washington DC landmarks, the Hollywood sign, beaches of coastal California, grand canyon, mountains of colorado, etc) to close out every broadcast of WNT, not just aerials of the NYC skyline.

Yes, this is a legacy theme, having been used since 1978. Personally, I like the 1978, 1990, and 1996 themes. (the first two mentioned were done by Score Productions, the latter by Edd Kalehoff) I hope you have the theme package to ABC's This Week during the David Brinkley era (1981 and 1993).

Well really amazing. I want to do a 1978 WJZ resync with the synthesized version of "ABC World News Tonight" theme, being that WJZ was an ABC affiliate at that time.

The version their using now is a version recorded in 2002 by Ed but just never used in favor of a more slow tempered tune that was used up until 2012.

If you collect news music, I wonder if you have the entire cuts of Joe LoDuca's "Local First News" (WDIV-TV) by any chance? Although that's a local package.

How did you get this theme and who do I contact? I'm starting a vodcast here and I need a GOOD theme (or themes) to use for it and any variation of this would be perfect.

When this theme aired, you knew some major geopolitical event was happening and Peter Jennings was going to be there on-scene. Even the other networks were in awe of ABC’s global reach and respectability under Jennings. This largely continued under Jennings’ longtime friend Charlie Gibson. Before ABC News became info-tainment for middle aged moms which it did overnight in 2009 when Charlie Gibson retired. The rest of the mainstream media then followed, and eventually they all went off the cliff of responsible journalism and are now just partisan outlets seemingly focused to exploit internal divisions.

Edd's greatest songs are the songs used on the Price is Right. Including the show's theme song.
