I don't remember who but a lady who also might be a vidushi, she said "Shastriya Sangeet manoranjan ke liye nahi hota, Aatma-ranjan ke liye hota hai". Never heard something so eye opening.
She is my icon, and the living legend of jaipur atrauli gharana, Raag Bhimpalasi is divine by her. My pranams to her, and to Mukta tai Bhide who made me appreciate the gayaki and taught me.
I HAD absolutely no idea of this singer,it so happened, i just clicked & listened on.....i must confess,the rendition is excellent,exhilarating, and in the true traditions of Hindustani music..........Dr Ashwini Bhide Deshpande is one of the ''finest'' Hindusthani exponents..her voice divine, her rendition exquisite, exemplary.......she is an angel......
Dr.Ashwini Bhide Deshpande holds Doctorate in two subjects the first being Biochemistry and Music. She belongs to the musical tradition of Jaipur Atrauli style of Hindustani classical music.
Raagdari wise this the purest Bhimpalasi I've heard. Nobody sings Dhanashri these days (unfortunately), so the risk of Bhimpalasi creeping into Dhanashri is zero; but a lot of Dhanasri creeps into the Bhimpalasis of other musicians not as capable as Dr. ABD.
This is ART at its purest literally I can't stop listening to it I wish I can sing like this or at least I could experience this live and see someone doing raag in front of me.... sadly I live so far away from India
Lyrics: JA gharana never believed in words or lyrics or even sargam. For them aakar is enough for expressing a raga. To an extent the secondary role to words applies to the whole of Hindustani Classical. So you’ll find saas- nanad in all kinds of ragas, light and serious. In the antara the writer Sadarang (Niyamat Khan) merely says that he loves ‘the’ maiden, but she forsook him. The two are not necessarily linked. Sadarang (1670-1748) wrote much of vocal sung today. He served the great Mughal Mohammad Shah Rangila, who presided over the cultural renaissance which continues today in the form of Urdu shayari, khayal gayaki,qawwali etc etc

It’s not possible to comment about singing,only appreciation is the right attitude about her singing,I am lucky enough to hear her singing many years ago during my college days when I was studying at Bombay.
My most liked raag presented by one of the best classical singer of our times. I get fully mesmerized by this melodious gem that under its magical spell nothing else matters to me except the continuity of the musical environment , I just cannot come out of this spell, feel I have just had some nectar and now I have to face the harsh world once the song gets over ...
I m not amazed after listening this beautiful rendition because we have such pure and talanted artists who are devoted towards their art ...far from this fancy world ...!
I totally agree with every word in these comments praising Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. She richly deserves them and much more.As regards the ‘humour’ aspect, it is due to the Raga chosen. Bhimpalas is devoted only to intense boundless love. See examples like ‘Prem seva sharan’, ‘ swakul tarak suta, ‘ balsagar tumhi veer shiromani’, ‘ tula pahate re tula pahate’ and finally ‘ yeh jindagi usiki hai’.
