Me when ameoba event fires: "Hmm I hope he names it Bubbles, as it should always be" Potato: "We're a bit xenophobic, so I think I'll just dissect it." Me: ...
Pressing the baol relic does NOT give 10% pop growth speed (the growth speed is passive and active all time). It gives you the option to terraform a planet into a gaia world through the planetary decision AND spawn in some baol population
And the gaiaforming from the Baol relic is practically free, too - it only costs, what, 150 influence to use? I mean, it's got a cooldown, but an otherwise free gaia world every few years is pretty powerful. Gaias can house any race regardless of planetary preference, and they've got a bonus +10% bonus to happiness and resources from jobs! All you have to do is colonize the world and use the planetary decision and BAM! Free gaia world, instantly, no terraforming required. The relic world from First League is great, but it's just one planet (albeit one that's *fantastic* for early-game research and can eventually be restored into an ecumenopolis); Cybrex's ruined rings worlds are great, but take quite a long time to be useful since you need to research Megastructure Engineering before you can restore them. Zroni is generally only useful if you're going for psionic ascension, which is fine if you're spiritualist but not as useful for anyone else. Basically, the point is that the Baol precurser is useful from beginning to end once you get the relic.
10 years cooldown for spawning in 4-8 pops(dont remember exact numbers) and a free 10% resource output + that all tileblockers are removed? You should use it on cooldown all time imo
Couple of things: You’ll need to do better about focusing on certain techs at the right time. Luckily, the AI isn’t aggressive early game (or seemingly in general), because they could push you to develop a better military. Regenerative hull tissue is pointless. You’ll not be too far from repair points as you are: on a small map, and should push toward stations with shipyards to prevent enemy reinforcements and a basis to defend from while you coax the enemy ships into attacking by making smaller fleets by splitting and leveraging tech superiority (pretty key in the game). You spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of your limited research in a pointless tech. As an aggressive race, expansion/early colonization is key. Probably would’ve been better to colonize sooner. If you’re going to play a more difficult game in the future, as you have done in civilization games, I think there’s still some things to learn about the AI and crisis events. You have to keep up with both if you want to win. But, where you’re at now, just have fun and maybe play up a certain narrative for your species/government to see how far that goes.
@@marciusnhasty Depends, if you fully counter shard (energy weapons i think, shard doesnt have shields) and if you get the bonus damage from the enclave, against dragons i think. you can do it with less. also use special resource bonus for the correct weapons. I think 15kish with battleships is possible if you do all this. maybe a good general as well.
Le gasp! You dissected Bubbles! You monster! I mean, you're a xenophobic vampire alien, but still! You dissected Bubbles! Aaaaaaanyway, glad to see you do some Stellaris content.
Thank you so much for making this. I own stellaris but have barely played it as it is too confusing. This will help me so much. You are the best and I can't wait to learn more.
I dont get why we are obsesed with civ knowing that there are incredible games like this, thanks to upload new content I needed something a little bit different. Love your videos btw
For me personally, the game looks interesting and engrossing - so much so that I bought it last year. But the lack of any kind of tutorial, amount of detail and intimidating levels of minutia you seemingly have to manage, makes it virtually unplayable for me. There are also a lack of good let's plays that can help you learn it because not one of the dozens of LPs I watched were anything like the game I bought due to how quickly it seems to evolve in leaps and bounds between releases. I'm a smooth-brained slack-jawed moron and Civ has a pretty good balance of minutia vs. playability that makes it fun without being completely frustrating. Not at all a knock against this game, though, as it's pretty amazing and I have enjoyed watching people play it, but it's just too in-depth I think for an average casual gamer to get into and play.
Man, I never get so high above my admin cap since the rework. I'm much more diligent about building admin buildings. I like Byzantine Beuracracy because it means doing so at least gives you something else. Edit: The Baol Relic also gives a decision that converts a planet into a Gaia world.
Yep, heard that about the 'I already conquered 600 of 1000 stars' thing. I have nearly 1800 hours into the game, and I think I've finished it like... twice? Because I forced myself. If I don't lose of because my own native dumb, eventually you snowball to the point where you just start eating or subjugating neighboring empires.
Yeah, bit of a shame, i think i've only finished it once in a number of plays. It starts of challenging and fun, then you become dominant and it's a chore to manage all the planets.
Hey Potato, just got this game to play with some mates, and I'm finding the learning curve to be brutal. Was wondering if you'd consider ever doing an over explained game of Stellaris, to help us noobs get to grips with all the crazy complications here?
A fleet power of between 15k and 20k is usually enough to deal with the Rubricon Dragon in my experience. Depending on your weaponry of course. Personally I go with balanced between multiple types, but it is weak to energy weapons.
As some one who bought stellaris i would love a indepth tutorial cause the game make no sense to me, yet I can understand vicy 2 witch is bonkers to wrap your brain around
Do more Stellaris content, and CK3, and most importantly, any game you want to play and share with me. Civ 6 is nice, but have you ever played Sayonara Wild Hearts?
your relic actually gives you the ability to force terraform a planet to a gaia world. you passively get 10% pop growth at all times from just having the relic
One of the cooler ways you can play Necroids is to download a mod off of the Steam Workshop that lets you manipulate primitive civilizations and thrust them into later ages. This means you can essentially swell their population to 25 before invading, and I really like that idea of aliens that secretly advance primitive civilizations from rock-throwing savages to nuclear-wielding modernists JUST so they can "harvest" them!
Hey potato, just so you know, if you want the strongest defensive stations, hangar bays are your best bet. They add the most fleet power, and strike craft absolutely shred corvettes and destroyers.
Stellaris is one of my favorite games. Keep up the civ content yah but more stellaris would be a dream. I love your stuff potatoe keep up the good work.
I did a physics degree and some postgraduate astrophysics and in terms of 'directions' in the galaxy by far the most rational co-ordinate system is a cylindrical co-ordinate system. In terms of a galaxy what you would do is say how far around the galaxy you are (like a military bearing) a linear distance from the centre of the galaxy and a height above or below the average position of all the stars in the galaxy. So the location would be bearing: 080 and range 0.9. Then stellaris doesn't do the height part because our tiny human brains can't deal with that sh*t.
I don´t get why people don´t get the potential this has with the new Nemesis expansion. You can become like the flood now with necrophage origin and hivemind, AND BECOME THE CRISIS, HOW COOL IS THAT.
Cool game but I DESPISE how paradox has all these dozens of micro DLC's and never does any "goty" style packs. I have friends who would love to get into games with me but they're not paying hundreds just to pickup 3-4 titles essentially. Sure some are just flavor but c'mon who wants only one slice of a game. :p
man i wish i had cash during christmas :( i have the base game but i REALLY want the DLC's :( i want AT LEAST Utopia cause i want to play wit hthe big tech like Dison Sphears and Ring Worlds :( now i have money but the DLC''s are really expencive :(
through out this whole vid i could not understand your reason for going discovery 1st and not expansion. The Early benefits from expansion is so much more valuable then discovery, the pop growth alone should be good enough reason to take it 1st. 2nd should be chosen based on your situation, aka; are there any nearby empires or not? Are you going tall or wide playstyle? Is it RP goals you want to achieve? I really like your siv 6 vids, but this... idk
You have the luckiest map ever! I have played for thosands of hours, and never had so many systems available behind 2 chokepoints. Usually I can get 10-15 systems behind chokepoints; after that there are too many enemy entry points to defend.
Having to deal with a exceeded fleet capacity is much less difficult than with the admin capacity. Focusing on the bureaucrats is helping you with tech (!) and a lot of different upkeeps. The fleet capacity only inflicts the fleet and the negative modifiyers are not so bad at all. Plus if you want to expand through war the admin cap will be even worse. Keep that in mind. Tech is king in that game. Tech and alloys.
Hey Potato, if you're seeing this, you really shouldn't be researching scientist output tech first. In the early game, you don't really have enough researchers, or the raw resources and and pops to make use of it. Early in the game, it's generally best to go for an early weapons tech, like blue lasers (to make sure you can defend yourself if you get attacked in the early game), if you roll the pop growth tech, you should always go for it (pops are everything in Stellaris), and you should generally also go for an armor/shields tech, and a raw resource tech, since those are extremely useful throughout the game.
BTW this video didn't appear in my feed like a civ one would. I only saw it because I was in my subscription list. Thanks for introducing this game to me!
I think taking Authoritarian and Xenophobe is kind of meh. With necrophages they seem end up doing similar thing. You need ether one of them to enslave. (one gives slaver guilds, another ability to rush easier as you can necrophage populations at will). I think its much more interesting to grab a dab of spiritualist for those temples and path towards psionic ascension. Plus bonuses psionic ascension will more then offset loss of slaver guilds/authoritarian.
Yes, please more Stellaris. Also an unrelated comment, but fans of Many A True Nerd are also probably confident that nobody is ever going to invade past the Ylva System.
I dont really like "map the stars" i think its a waste of ressources early on since imo the influence is much better spent expanding your empire for new ressources and securing key nodes to protect your early expansion. Anyway nice video and I cant wait to play necroids myself!!! Thanks for sharing this early insight.
So excited to see you doing Stellaris content! Been craving some quality stellaris content for some time now, and to see my favorite Civ content creator do some Stellaris content is just amazing. I've been playing this game for a little over a year and have loved every second of it. I hope you feel the same as you go.
owsome video i learn so much im TRYING to play the game for a few days that empire sprawl is the biggest enemy for now but now i know how to deal with it thanks alot!
It disappoints me that you got exactly the same random encounters I did in my last game. Stellaris is feeling a little too samey for me but I really want to enjoy it
So is anyone else kinda disappointed that the last Baol that Potato found in the tank didn't say "I Am Baol" and have a dead Racoon skeleton lying next to the tank?
