I peeped the original song, I like the pacing and way this lets Carmen's words breath a bit more. I think her havin an Acapella version opened up a whole new world for her work to be discovered in over 30 years later. Maybe don't compare them, but perhaps you can appreciate the want to keep her artistry current and relevant, even if it's not your thing.
