Metaluna Zombie Half of the new gen gamers were born 5 years after release... what would you expect???? plus in these days there was no internet to boost hypes
These games were endless fun. Lorne Lanning is the most underrated game guy in history, and his games are some of the best ever. A lot of social commentary woven into his cutscenes. Says something about us humans...
I remember way in highschool computer class, we got a whole week where they introduced us to 3D CGI. We saw either this movie or some documentary the Abe was shown in prominently, & couple of films from the "Mind's Eye" franchise, & a visit from a representative from some relatively unknown company called Pixar. & the following week, our school got this thing called The Internet.
***** Yeah, I got that, I just think that's neat. Like, my dad once brought me along to a business lunch once when I was young. The guy he was meeting turned out to be a college roommate of the guy who invented Magic the Gathering. He talked about how the guy would bug him in the middle of the night, like "Dude you gotta help me playtest this'. I was amazed.
+Jogging Scout they showed both endings here for Exodus, the part where he says "but it was twice the flavor" is the good ending and Abe escapes. The ending where they are shocking Abe for his tears is the bad ending. They shock him so much that he explodes into birds I believe and that's when the Slig is like "sorry boss!" And they both start laughing and you get the bad ending. I think the bad ending is if you don't save enough of your people.
Vice President Aslik: Those stinkin' slaves! I-I mean....my fellow employees, Uncle Asliks's been taking care of your right?, I love all of ya like you was my own right?, but if we don't catch this Abe guy, its the Brew vats for all of ya! Now, what are waiting for? GET BACK TO WORK!?
Director Phleg: It ain't my fault! Its that Abe guy! First Ruptrefarms, now Necrum Mines... there ain't no bones anywhere! No bones, no brew! I am, totally SCREWED! My career is OVER! Mehegrrrrr, and its all that blue basterd's FAULT! News Slig: Yeah yeah, blah blah blah.... brought to you by Scrab Cakes! Mmmm Mmm, they'll cost ya an arm a'n a leg! Owwwww!
It's genius when you think about it. Getting the bad ending means that they actually drink your bitter tears, and I think that is proof that the wonderful limitless legendary luscious Lorne Lanning made this.
Yes this is just cut scenes from the game; but it was made my the creator of the game. Back on 98 Oddworld Inhabitants "glued" together the animations they had worked so hard to create and submitted it as a short film. The intent was to reach new fans who didn't play video games through art. I'm glad that Oddworld Inhabitants went back to their roots with 'New and Tasty' I just wish they had an Xbox version. Oddworld is the reason I got an Xbox in 2001 so I could play 'Munches Odyssey' and I still play 360 today. I'm not going to buy an Xbox one or PS4. Like southpark said "the graphics are like 10% better." For the price of the consoles plus the extra yearly subscription fee and rising game prices, you could build a high end gaming PC that not only has better graphics but will continue to surpass the next gen consoles after xb1 and PS4 in performance and frame rate.
Same, the reason I went for Xbox was that Munch's Oddyssey was an exclusive. Thank goodness they'll be on PC now. Can't wait for New n' Tasty and hopefully a new Oddworld down the line.
I loved Abe's Oddysee. I remember reading about it in Electronic Gaming Monthly. I knew I had to get it. Then I got Abe's Exoddus for Christmas a few years later.
So hyped for soulstorm , these games were so crazy in the 90s as a kid used to watch an older bro play and only got as far as dessert levels somewhere near scrabland lol , as a kid myself I could only get as far as the end of necrum mines the puzzles were insane register these games early teens and flew through them rescuing all mudz, as a kid it was cool in one of the levels theirs a broken drain pipe you go down and I thought it be cool if was more secret levels to find out later every screen with broken down mine cart or empty green bottles contains a secret level to find , this game was so freaking weird scary I could never get enough a run through only lasted about 3 to 5 hours I wanted days lol , looking forward to soulstorm Lorne lanning said in interview soulstorm will take atleast 12 hours game play if not more , would be cool to see the quintology completed
As much as I loved Soulstorm and I'm excited for what's next, I think I still prefer Exoddus as a sequel to Oddysee. I admit that nostalgia plays no small part in that, but I also feel like Exoddus just has more atmosphere, more of that classic Oddworld charm, and it's more natural of a continuation where Soulstorm is a total reinvention (Not that there's anything wrong with that)
I think these clips were assembled as the very first video game submission for the Oscars. Every fan of Oddworld knows there's a real game between these clips that the bulk of the story comes from, but I can see why the judges must have not been able to make much sense out of this. It's all over the place!
From what I searched I only find some high quality screenshot of it... ...by the way Mister Pupbenny who you think is better newscaster slig or newscaster mudokon
@@lyuanfranco7842 Yeah, I can't find much else about it either! As for the newscasters, well I haven't seen the mudokon reporting on anything else so I guess he didn't last too long in the job haha. the sligs are superior!
The ending of this film doesn't make sense because it combines both the bad and good endings of the game. Abe (canonically) saved the mudokuns, blew up soulstorm brewery, then set off to find the rest of his fellow mudokuns, as the sequel game Munche's oddysey makes clear.
Oddworld is in the process of being resurrected by Just Add Water under the supervision of Lorne Lanning. Stranger's Wrath was upgraded and re-released on PS3 in December 2011.
@BoredkidzProduction yes that's right all these scene's is actually in the first two games they are the cut scen's they used it to make the short movie.
Abe's Oddyse and Exoddus >>>>>> Much Oddyse. Much was ruined by Xbox which made it WAY too child friendly and just out of the Oddworld experience... It could be good if they make a darker remake but it still won't be as great as the first two and they know this as well.
John Smith actually the remake is more of a reimagining of exoddus as it's intended to be a "reset button" to the entire franchise, so as soon soulstrom releases, the oddworld timeline that we all know and love is gonna go the way of the dodo.
so they cut out the part with Abe and the muds putting their hand up to the moon, which is the most cinematic part of it all.. instead show a bit of the bad ending with the brewmaster.. who we've already seen burn up?!?!?
Well seeing as he is the only modukun that has been established to be able to jump or recognize gaps, that doesn't speak much about the intelligence about the inhabitants of Oddworld.
last time i checked it said they're not as JAW ( Just Add Water ) is the one now controlling the series and release the classics to PC, PSN for PSP, ps3, vita and munch oddysee HD and stranger's wrath HD for ps3, PC, vita.
Did anyone else notice how abe's voice slightly changed and how him and the rest of the Mudokon species had one less finger? They also changed the hand print on the moon.
It's because in Japan, the fingers on the Mudokon hand represented a low class of meat packers that had social problems and had frequent accidents. After large battles with lawyers to protect from lawsuits, in the Japanese version, along with Abe's Ex
Exoddus (damn RU-vid typing glitch) and future installments, the fingers were changed to 3. Now as for the voice, it's probably just Lanning's voice changing with Abe's change.
Alex the Bezerker Actually, Lorne didn't voice Abe in the first instalment, believe it or not. He was meant to, in fact, he recorded all of the dialogue, but one of the other employees (can't recall their name right now) also recorded alternative takes using a slightly different tone-these were the takes that made it into the game. One of the few things that slipped past Lorne, actually. Did you know he didn't like the original Mudokon Pops poster (the one with a decapitated head through a stake)? It was just a matter of the artist bringing in this design, and a lack of time to change the creation. There are also more than 99 muds hidden in the game. Don't know why I'm mentioning this, but the designers hid in a few "super secret" areas. Even Lorne doesn't exactly know how many muds can be rescued in Oddysee. I guess these are an obligatory result of collaborative creativity.
jonathan sokol Don't know why you mentioned me, but yes, the official reason for the fourth finger being cut off is a matter of insult to lower class workers. However, that is just the cover story. The real reason was essentially extortion on behalf of the Japanese Government. Yeah, sure, four fingers is a grievous insult, or so they claim, but if you offer up $5 Million per annum, it's no longer viewed as an issue.
