ABHIJIT DASGUPTA is an alumnus of FTII, Pune and was trained at BBC London, NDR Germany, AIBD Malaysia, ABC Australia and NBC USA.
To his credit are over 1500 LIVE telecasts from around the world - covering various events. He specialized in sports covering Football, Cricket, Kabaddi including, World Cup Cricket, Asian Games (New Delhi, Beijing & Hiroshima) BSI World Masters Cricket.
He also produced the highest revenue earned program of India - Lata in Concert LIVE for Sony TV. Abhijit was the Head of Productions of ESPN, the Chief Producer of NDTV ( a news TV channel) for their election telecasts, the Chief Producer of AajTak - creating a record of 72 hours nonstop live by a single producer during the elections.
Abhijit was the youngest war correspondent to cover the Bangladesh Freedom war. His articles got published in Newsweek, Asahi and many Indian publications.
Before that, he co-authored with Desmond Doig articles on the Naga Headhunters and the Onge tribe of Little Andaman.
He has directed and produced more than 100 corporate films and over 50 TV commercials.
Abhijit experimented with multi language communication in what he calls TV's own visual language; The first color film of Doordarshan (Indian National TV) was directed by him where he used multi language. The film got the best film award in 1981.
Abhijit Dasgupta is a past Board Member of INPUT (International Public Television) the largest TV organization of the world. He now is the National Coordinator of INPUT in INDIA.
He has 2 National and 28 International Awards to his credit for the best documentaries.
He is a visiting professor of IIM and IISWBM and till recently, the Dean of India's premier film school - Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute.
He is the author of the book 'A CANDID CANVAS'.
