Lata ji had revealed in an interview with Javed Akhtar that when she was recording for the songs of this movie Jaya Bachchan used to come daily in her recording. She was confused why she was coming daily in the recording so she asked Hrikesh Mukherjee about this and she came to know that Jaya Bachchan's character in the movie was a Playback singer so due to this she came daily. After watching the movie Lata ji astonished when she saw her acting in the song "PIYA BINA PIYA BINA" because she had performed her gesture like her as she wore a big bindi on her forehead, a broad border sari and she took her anchal(sari) as Lata ji used to do. ♥️♥️💕☺️😊

Wept like a baby. I felt I received a kind of healing as I watched this movie. Everything is so real. Our fears, insecurities, our pride, stubbornness, all get in the way of our true joy. As a youngster I did not watch this movie. I was 13 then. I watched it at age 59 and I wept like a baby during most of the scene. Jaya Bachan is an incredible actress and she sacrificed everything to raise a family. That makes her an incredible woman and mother. She has already proven herself. She has nothing more to prove. But I do hope she does more movies so we can see that precious gift within her.

What a classic! Watched it again after so many years! Jaya truly represent the Eastern women of Sub-Continent, especially India! Shy, polite, soft, faithful and a home-maker! There is no word to explain . In short heart touching movie. The way of showing speech of mind is unbelievable. The great actor amitabh bachhan and jaya bachhan. What a classic, indeed. Amitabh and Jaya both were flawless in their roles. But this film should be watched for Bindu’s role. She has few dialogues but expresses a horde of emotions by her eyes only. Alas, her potential was not fully exploited by then directors. She was wasted in cheap vampish roles.

Yogendra ji, same for Asrani. He is known as a comic actor, but here he played such an important supporting role. When Amitabh says, "mat bhulo kee ye mera ghar hai", the expression of the reply "main sach mein bhool gaya tha ye tera ghar hai" and then the phone rings he thinks of picking it but does not. This year, 2023, will be fifty years since this movie was released. I still remember watching it in the cinema when it was released in 1973. I enjoyed it then and I still enjoy it now. A story that has a meaning that is applicable even today. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri - both perfect in their roles as are Bindu and Asrani.

If I have to select one perfect movie from India across 100 years, I will easily pick this because its story is abs riveting, the acting of Amitabh but esp of Jaya is world class, the songs and the lyrics are beyond superb and the flow is uninterrupted. Jaya is part of the great women actors India has produced and one of the best, if not the best of all.

Abhimaan or "ego" is such a dangerous thing and it often leads to depression and severe mental health issues of people around. Personally being a victim of the same, I can so relate with Uma 😢 It is a masterpiece ❤

In my opinion entire fault of that photographer who tells Amitabh to go aside so that he can take Jaya's pic clearly. He ignited the flame and later on that girl taking autograph snatches it back from Amit when seeing Jaya and the music director preferring Jaya to sing irrespective of the rates just added petrol to the already ignited flame.

Vaise is movie main husband wife ki to story hain but true friend ki bhi story hain.. jo Amitabh ji ki friend hoti hain chahe kitna bhi unko like karti hain but shadi ke baad kabhi bhi kuch aisa nahi ki ki unka rishta wife se kharab ho chahe vo apne Amitabh ji apne weak tym pe vaha jatte hain.. but uska fayeda kabhi nahi uthaya.. unke dost ne shuru main kaha tha ki ladka ladki dost nahi ho sakte but is movie main unki dosti ko pure dikhaya hain.. ladka ladki dost ho sakte hain..
