I read the comments about Abida I have been to several of her shows in the states. I think it was in Houston Hazar Imam was attending a special dinner and Abida was doing her show. Towards the end Mawla was walking towards her stage and as he was about 20 to 30 feet away she stopped singing and rushed towards Mawla and laid complete down on her stomach and bowed her head. Mawla smiled as she got up and spoke to her very privately for a few minutes. She bowed and side stepped for him to pass. Tears were rushing down her face! I was there as a seniors committee member part of the team who had arranged this event. The entire audience was tremendously happy and excited as Mawla walked to exit the hall. Abida is a gupte ismaili and this is her own private and previledge decision. May she always be blessed with such a wonderful voice that reaches the hearts of all those who listen to her music. ❤
Reminds me of when I was 'growing up' in a small coastal town of Tanga in the East African country of Tanzania. On Imamat Day (Khushialy), Shariff-Mama (Alladina) would recite this Ghinan in his inimitable style! What a voice! What a rendition! On occasions, also by Nasim Suleman (now in Toronto)!! This is amazing - have been to several of her concerts, here in the UK!! Abida is a unique performer of Sufi music, as was the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. @@milaradisic8839 it's our devotional literature written by our pirs/dais who wrote this and several other "ginans" in the love and devotion of the Imam of the time. This particular ginan is written to congratulate Imam on his "takht nasheeni" (throne acceptance as Imam) to show the love and celebration his murids are feeling cuz of the Imam and his excellency. This is just a glimpse of what shia imami Ismaili religion has. Just a beautiful sight to see and hear. This is a way of showing our love for the Imam and Ahl e bait and the Almighty. Our pirs have written gems and this is just 1 of them :)
