Rupert is a true Master and teacher of "Advait Vedant". This video is the ultimate expression in the English Language of the highest truths of Advait (non-duality). It can't get any better in clarity, succinctness and precision. All the ultimate concepts and tenets of "Advait Vedanta" are contained in this 15 minute video clip. There is nothing essential that remains and is not contained in here. The truths of the Vedantic Mahavakyas " Pragyanam Brahman", "Tat tvam Asi", "Aham Brahmasmi" and "Ayam Atma Brahman" are all parceled into one beautiful oral thesis that has almost mesmeric power to take us back home to our real nature and permanent resting place even as we live. Rupert's beautiful explanations like "Attention shines out through the senses towards external objects" are almost perfect poetic restatements of verse 4 in the grand Advait eulogical composition "Dakshinamurti Stotra" of the great Indian Vedanta revivalist guru Adi Shankaracharya. Rupert not only says it all, he instructs and enlightens like very few living gurus can. He almost leads us verbally into meditation. He holds our hand and takes us along the Direct path to true enlightenment. Thank you Rupert. Thank you very mush. You are The Best of the non-dual teachers in the western world.
ABSOLOUTELY CORRECT. Cuts like a knife ,his FEW words ...and his clarity,is astonishing. And we are very very blessed to be here in the time and space Rupert is here on this Planet.Thank you very very much.
Very well said, Mohaneesh...I have personally traced his Guru Parampara and read/heard all of them..But when it comes to teaching, Rupert is The Best..He is truly blessed..! Thanks again for putting our gratitude in precise words.
Hi Mr Rupert .. I am from Bangalore, India.. This is one of the most beautiful and valuable thing I got from you.. I was searching for Awareness but today I realised it is within me .. Touching your feet 👣😭😭😭😭 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My South Korean professor recently translated your book ‘being aware of being aware’ in Korean language. He’s a neuroscientist in Yonsei university he said he is inspired by your book and teaching. I’m excited to read the book both Korean and English.. Thank you!!🙏
Tell him to come to one of Rupert Spira’s webinars. It would be a pleasure to get his insights and also understand what he has understood as a result of these teachings. From a neuroscientist’s perspective.
That is no proof of anything other than he said that, it can also be a tool to make you think he cares. Maybe he does, maybe it is a show. People are rarely this mono-tonal and controlled unless they are inducting you to be their student.
@@frontier9 People who do not care do not provide unnecessary opportunities for investments of their time. Every time we talk to another person is a show because we have egos. If we wanted we could just sit with other people and be present with no talking or 'show', but those silent retreats are tough for many. Personally I find his tone very calming and it helped my ability to focus on what he was getting at.
When you think you are lost in the world. Know these words from Rupert will show you you are never lost. Thank you Rupert for making me remember what I have always known from my early years. But could never completely comprehend.
I totally get what he's saying now. When I started meditating I would consciously try to direct my focus on 'nothing'. This required alot of will power. However I eventually came to the realization to sink my focus/mind back into its source and this helped to abide in awareness more. I now find meditation so much more enjoyable than before.
I found this man today and I'm just so amazed I've been watching and reading so many people over the years who have the same message but he just takes it to another level of understanding I wouldn't of been ready to hear him a few years ago... with me it's been a journey to this point but I'm so grateful to have found him he is just wonderful
I love you Rupert. You hve simplified ramana maharashi teaching in the most beautiful simplistic pure way. I love you sooo much words can’t express my love towards you.
Is there a Nobel price for clarity and eloquence? Every time I watch one of his videos my life seem to change profoundly, and he has many videos. Thanks!!!
This is one of the profound explanations I have ever get on awareness.. I started laughing listening to his explanations as I have been overthinking on this concept but actually non-thinking is the key of self.. Thank you very much for these bful teachings.
he is a true artist, his past experience as a ceramic artist really comes out as he paints the audience the clear colors that are alive within, and without his being. His videos and interview on BATGAP are amazing. Most who are watching this are like me probably, somewhere we realized oh I AM. Then the train stopped. uuug.. Rupert provides the connection then with the outside world to show us the aliveness of it all. Literally! To say I love my guitar now has a whole new meaning. :)
Totally agree, can't be more explicitly said But of course these are not just words, they are Spirit / Truth filled. As we receive in our Spirit, we get clarity in our mind's. Thank you Rupert ❤....
This is the best explanation of Self-Enquiry that I have found. He zeroes in on exactly what the real practice is supposed to be, and then explains why Self-Enquiry is often explained differently. Highly recommended.
Now the goal is to stay there...the truth will be reavealed if you did it ;) ! ( Hope it is already done through the time that this comment has been posted. Wich you good luck anyway :) ).
Yes, simply letting attention relax back into its source, awareness, presence etc, because for some reason it likes to 'lose' itself in thought and objects. But beware, there is a subtle duality and bias in eastern spirituality traditions, that preferences the formless over form, and can lead to spiritual bypassing and nihilism. Equally valid is embracing one's experience, a tantric humanistic path if you like or 'integrated non-duality', that can arrive at the same place, but in a more hearty life-affirming way.
The Formless One, God, is choosing to express Itself as an infinite number of forms and microcosmic expressions of Itself called souls/spirits in order that It might know Itself experientially. Otherwise God would just stay "home" in The Realm of The Absolute, also called the non-individuated Ultimate Reality, The Unmanifest Infinite Field, It's "Original Form". Life is God's way of expressing Itself and experiencing Itself. All of it's aspects, characteristics, qualities, attributes in an infinite variety of ways. Thus the value of form.
This man is amazing. I found out too late he was holding a retreat near me, but never mind. I spent a week at a Eckhart Tolle retreat, but just 12 minutes with a Rupert clip like this cuts right to the core - SNAP!
Alex Gabriel he is. if you listen with your heart you could see it. money means nothing to awarness but means a lot to the mind. enlightment cant be pretended and money or any object or thought is not of importance.
Brilliant. The mental practices and strategies of resistance, to find its source, come to an end when God and awareness are seen as non-practices. It comes as a relief from all the self effort and true praise opens up.
"The blank state is an object, a state of the limited self and mimics the true emptiness of awareness". "You can only walk towards something that is not yourself"
So now what does that look feel or taste like then? I've still no reference or what exactly am I looking for after knowing that attention simply mimics awareness as a blank state but no clue as to what I'm looking for
@@dorianshaffer7120 Being knowingly awareness feels and tastes like causeless peace, freedom, understanding (meaning end of questions), happiness... namely life without the sense of lack and without the sense of impending doom. What you are looking for is your true being. Your true being can only be fully revealed to you once you come to clarity that you are not Dorian, that you are not the person you imagine yourself to be and that rather, you are formless aware presence. Although the body mind is named and known as Dorian, you are not the body mind. Concerning the blank state, if it appears to you, it is not the end state. It is a phenomenal state that is still an object and not your true nature. Your true nature is not a state.
I want to give unlimited thumbs up to this video!!! The best and the utmost clear pointer I have received about awareness! I can’t thank you enough Rupert! 😭
another way i came across of getting to the same sinking awareness in awareness itself, from whence it arises - "when you sit quietly for a moment, a feeling of peace naturally arises". the peace is awareness collapsing in itself.. a placid lake. no movement of experience means no time.
He takes me right to Reality in all of his videos. Others are good but Rupert somehow hits the nail on the head for me. Tony Parsons is good and so is Mooji, Nome, John Wheeler, A. Ramana, Nukunu, etc. I love all these magical folks!
To be aware that we are aware it is not a practice, but in order to overcome identification and forgetfulness and remain self aware we need a lot of practice. And in order to go deeper and deeper in the silence within to achieve the full absorption of the mind in its source needs much more practice for a long long time......
At 4:13, Rupert asked, "Where do you go to find that experience [of being aware]?" Is it just me, or is it only possible to answer this question through memory of having been aware of being aware? That's the only way I find to answer this question. Rupert is currently more useful for me than any other teacher I've followed :)
Beautiful clarity. Congruent with the teachings of Peter Wilberg's 'The Awareness Principle', Michael Kosok's 'The Singularity of Awareness', Peter Jackson's 'The Natural Bliss of Being' and everything by Nisargadatta Maharaj. Wonderful pointers all.
Rupert's book 'The Light of Pure Knowing' includes a set of CDs with all 30 meditations for those who find more time for listening rather than reading. Thanks to those, the process of reconditioning as been facilitated tremendously, since listening allows the flow of awareness to gradually colonise understanding. Based on these videos and on the questions asked by people, it seems they start to struggle with reconciling where true value rests: in understanding the essence of our true self. Much time and effort could be saved if those meditations could be heard and understood prior to any questions. Those meditations are a journey that step by step take the listener to where they need to be, leaving the struggle and clarity to take place whenever they are meant to occur.
I'm a beginner at this .. 2 weeks ago I sat alone and started doing self inquiry.. I had strange feelings. .then a realization that I am not the one asking the questions.. not the one trying to find the answers.. I am the knowing..the experience was beautiful.. unfortunately, I was not quite able to get to that spot again.. I think this clip gives some helpful clues..
It’s because you are not the one who was “in the spot” and then “left the spot” and is now “trying to get back to the spot and can’t find it” - this is all seen. It is all passing phenomena. You are not that which passes. You are the same.
I notice that thought seems to come from the upper right side. Anyone else experience this? Seeing that thoughts, feelings, perceptions, sounds, etc arise in the same field was the point of realization for me.
