It's a good thing that I avoid the trailer as much as I could, even when I watched some movies that came before it, none of the movies played the Abigail trailer so I'm grateful that I got to experience the movie in an open mind without paying attention to the marketing

Abigail being a vampire wasnt a twist. Everyone knew cause the movie was originally called draculas daughter by radio silence. The twist was the dude in on it trying to make his own gang/army of vampires and take down her dad who was dracula

I wondered that too. They have to market the film and tell audiences the best part to draw them in and the big draw is the vamp ballerina - but imagine if they just billed it as a kidnapping gone awry movie and you watch - and the crew starts getting picked off one by one, they throw red herrings, maybe it's the dad's enforcer doing it, maybe someone in the crew turned on them to get all the money, then WOW OMG THE KID IS A VAMPIRE WTF?!

I feel I'm the only one that's not bothered by knowing she's a vampire. I still enjoyed it because it was fun to see how she was basically manipulating the playing field.

I completely agree! I thought that they didn't build up his assholery enough for that switch to insane villain to make much sense. As for the teamup, ig there were snippets here and there that showed the potential for understanding between the two, but i think they relied a little too heavily on the whole "enemy of my enemy is my friend" concept. Tbf tho, it's me being nitpicky. It wasnt enough for me to not enjoy it since it was a fun vampire film. Happy to hear someone share similar thoughts!

I think it was foreshadowed that he would become the villain when Abigail was exposing everyone's past. From what I remember she mentioned how he went undercover to infiltrate his dad's business but while being undercover he liked the power he had.

I agree. I thought the former cop was going to team up with Joey & they were going to kill Abigail then escape. You’re absolutely right that it was sudden & out of left field. He killed Lambert, which led us to believe he was saving Joey.

To me it wasn’t that they suddenly were best friends it was that Abigail wasn’t expecting Frank to be a vampire, so when he drained her the first time, she was weakened. She realized that she likely couldn’t beat Frank by herself. I think Frank was the one she brought there that she hated the most. Both Joey and Frank abandoned their families. The difference is that Joey didn’t want to. She was working to be a better person to go back and give her son a better life. Frank on the other couldn’t care less about his old family. He liked the power he felt infiltrating Lazar’s crime family, and he wanted more of it. He was going to continue pursuing money and power for his gain over his family. I think Frank reminded Abigail of her father who also lost interest in her, and who presumably, put his time into his crime empire. When faced with the choice of letting Joey go to beat Frank or risking Frank winning, Abigail chose to side with the person who was trying to develop a better relationship with their child.

@@collinfarnes8752 nothing about the character showed he liked infiltrating Lazar's family, he was literally out the door until they convinced him to stay back, he didn't want anything to do with it
