This movie is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Fun fact: Abigail is the version of another movie I just watched yesterday BITE on Tubi (w/ Vinnie Jones). You should check it out
Joey was sober in this movie. The candy was real candy....hence the suckers. Addicts use candy to curb cravings... like gum for smokers. When Joey killed the vamp that bit her, Frank, before feeding....she avoided turning herself. Frank turned so quickly because he consumed vampire blood.
R.I.P. Angus Cloud🕊 This was one of your best roles. Also, Fun Fact: This movie was originally based on a novel and movie called Dracula's Daughter and while not confirmed, it's implied that Abigail's father is Dracula.
@@paulonius42oh and it was written by Carl Dreadstone and published Jan 1 1977- instead of telling others they are wrong with little to no facts to back it up, try researching it and then admitting you were wrong :)
The fact that Roxy went the whole film not realizing that the candy was actually just candy used as a coping tool for a recovering addict and not real drugs is wild, lol
@@alexp601 can be. Chewing gum. Chewing on toothpicks. Etc. Smokers do it a lot as well. It's just about redirecting the simple habits to things that are less harmful.
I really hope this movie ignites Alisha Weir's career and she goes on to other things. I don't think I've ever seen a child actor have this much fun with their role.
Nobody does horror comedy for me the way Radio Silence does horror comedy! Both Ready or Not and Abigail have such a good blend of fun and camp to their horror and gore. Also, Alisha Weir (Abigail) is so so brilliant, her last big role was playing Matilda for the movie adaptation of Matilda the Musical where she killed it too.
@@sheisaMachine Because this movie is supposed to be a remake of Dracula's Daughter, as she's the daughter of the most powerful horror movie villain in history.
Grace vs Abigail sounds like it could work, but they better get started on it quick before Alisha Weir grows out of the role. I don't think they can pull a "Orphan First Kill" with this 1.
@@ketcm the cult/curse & the vampires definitely have a connection, especially with how they both pop like gore filled balloons under certain circumstances 😆.. Lazar & the family from Ready or Not probably made similar deals with the devil. Lazar asked for eternal life, power&fortune, the monkey's paw wish to that was vampirism, the Family asked for success&wealth, their's was having to playing the games in the form of sacrifice. Key theme with both might be greed.
Dan Stevens killed Giancarlo because he was power hungry. They said earlier that he liked being undercover because he wasn’t restrained by the rules or not having control himself. She even mentions in the $100 bet that he had to be in control. As soon as he got the power to take control he used it. He wanted to be able to do what they could, but didn’t want to be controlled by any of them
I love this movie, but I can’t help but feel like the marketing severely let it down. The movie tries to do this mystery about what Abigail is for almost an hour, but if you have seen any piece of marketing for the film, you already know she’s a vampire. So while I still think the movie is great, the long build-up felt wasted for me; it would have been nice to be in the same position as the characters and figure out what's going on.
I both agree and disagree. I feel like a lot of people were interested in watching this movie BECAUSE they knew it was about a vampire ballerina child. If they kept it vague, I'm not sure the basic premise would have garnered much of an audience. Plus, knowing what she is kinda tells you that this movie is gonna be campy as hell, so you know the tone going in. Without it, people might have watched this thinking it was going to be much more serious and scary than it actually was, thus creating bad reviews from the general audience
I didn't mind knowing about the vampire thing but did the trailer have to reveal what happens with Frank? That was such a good turn of events and shocked my friend lol I already knew cuz of the trailer:p
Well, every reaction has done the same with using the vampire Abigail image in the thumbnails and even saying “vampire ballerina” in their titles lol. It’s a shame.
The problem is that if you only use before-the-twist parts of the movie for marketing, it's going to look like an action thriller kidnapping/heist movie and people looking for that are the ones who are going to be in the theater when you deliver a campy horror comedy instead. You risk bad WoM by pulling a bait & switch on your audience.
It's not pills, it's candy lol the amount of times pills were mentioned in this reaction, she's clean. When people go to rehab they're encouraged to eat candy whenever they have an urge to use
Curious, in "The Cabin in the Woods" a little ballerina girl is shown as one of the creatures from the facility. She had a big mouth full of several circular rows of teeth instead of a face.
The girl playing Abigail, is Alisha Weir. She was the lead from the Matilda film that was on Netflix in 2022. Also, I think the original title for the film was “Dracula’s Daughter” outright naming Abigail’s dad. This version leaves it up to you to decide.
The only down side to this movie, was they spoiled it with the trailer and poster. Would have been such a great reveal/twist if not for that. But other than that, great movie.
I think they wanted the audience to know she was a vampire so we could be impressed by how well the girl pretended to be human and was able to fool all of them until she revealed herself.
Joey was actually eating candy, not taking drugs. It helps repress cravings for drugs. She also said when they were guessing each other's information at the beginning that she has been sober for her son. It would be weird for her to take drugs the whole time when the point of her character arc was that she was becoming a better person for her son.
Dan Stevens still needed to do his first kill (by bloodsucking), according to Giancarlo. I wonder if that had something to do with why he didn’t change Barrera? If he wasn’t a mature vampire yet, it wouldn’t have worked.
Dude didn't become more evil when he turned. It was obvious he was a shitty person (they all were to varying degrees, but he sneakily seemed like the worst of the bunch) in the very beginning. Roxy thought that one of those instances of him clearly being off was sexual tension 😂 Abigail even insinuates that the power he got while undercover got to his head. He basically jumped at the chance to be a vampire because A.) he would survive, B.) he'd love the power.
I've been waiting for this reaction for a while now. I've seen other channel's reaction to this movie. I remembered the actress who played Abigail is Matilda from Matilda the Musical, Joey is Sam from Scream, RIP Angus Cloud, I forgot about Blobman from Xmen Origins. Also, had a crush on Matthew Goode since Chasing Liberty & Leap Year.
At first I thought this movie was meh cliche cringe, but halfway it actually got interesting. I hope they make a part 2 because how they introduced Lazaar has sequel potential. Maybe even a prequel about how Abigail grew up and was trained to be this deadly assassin.
I would guess that her "training" was becoming a vampire with super strength and the ability to fly. Also being very hard to kill is a pretty good trait to have.
man i love this movie and ready or not i hope there’s gonna at least be a crossover movie between the two main characters or at least another movie to build up this Monsterverse and have an endgame-esque ending to the universe
One of my FAVORITES from this year for sure. Loved this one. Way too fun, watched it a handful of times already. Adding to the horror list in the yearly watches
Wait, so that's why the little girl is familiar when I watched this movie last weekend. I love the recent Matilda the musical movie. I would love to see you guys react to Matilda, it was a blast!
I like how Peter's portrayal tricks people into thinking he's sweet and nice when he was the very first person who mentioned having to kill Abigail (who they thought at the time was just a normal 12 year old girl) because she'd seen one of their faces and he was perfectly okay with the idea of needing to beat/torture her for more information on Valdez. For all Joey calls Dean a sociopath, it's Peter who's really the worst out of them from what we actually see in the movie.
Just found out that one of Giancarlo Esposito first appearance was the guy that got upset when someone stepped on his sneaker in the movie Do The Right Thing. Totally unrecognizable lol
Not only my favorite horror film of the year, but probably my favorite of the recent Universal Horror remakes. Also, wow is Matthew Goode great as Dracula for what little time he was given
They were pretty clear that new vampires can't turn people. That's why neither Barrera nor Durant turned when bit by Stevens and Newton, respectively (and Barrera isn't going to)
The vampire rules were fairly simple. To become a vampire, you need to be bitten and also drink vampire blood. If you just get bitten, basically nothing happens. Abigail was able to control Jessica because she had mastered the trick. So you can only become a puppet if the vampire who bites you has been around for a long time and knows the trick. In Joey's case, she didn't drink vampire blood, so she didn't become a vampire, and Frank didn't know how to turn her into a puppet, so she was just normal the whole time. Since the vampire who bit her died before doing anything else, she doesn't have o worry about anything. Now Jess became a vampire without drinking blood, and I'm guessing it's because a person who becomes a puppet automatically becomes a vampire, OR Abigail was able to turn her by taking over her mind. Jess' case can be a little murky, but Joey's was very cut and dry.
When I found out that Abigail was the same girl who played Matilda in that netflix remake I was gagged. Going from Matilda to this? that was a bigger turn than Jojo Siwa (lol) And she really was great in this. as the kids would say, she ate.
WTH?! I didn’t know Angus passed. Liked his character in this and had seen him in something else as well. Thought he was going to have a bright acting career. Always lose the good ones too soon.
Hope you guys react to Interview w/ the Vampire movie (Queen of the Damned for the guilty pleasure) & Tv show. Maybe Penny Dreadful tv series one day as well.
yall are the best vampire reaction people ugh, please react to interview with the vampire. It's a series about a gay toxic relationship dynamic between two vampires, it's so good the writing is the best ive seen in a vampire or AMC show EVER. I'd sell my soul to continue the show forever 😭😭🪭
Yes!! I love this movie!! So excited to see you guys react to it. I was hooked when I heard Dan Stevens was in it and then I saw the whole cast list and was even more stoked. This was just a really fun time with some hilarious characters.
Sometimes after these reactions it makes you question if people even watched the movie lol Roxy’s lack of understanding of the candy and how vampires turned is kinda embarrassing
Yes, everyone should be an expert on the film they're currently watching and are not allowed to misinterpret, mishear, or misunderstand ANYTHING. It must be great that this never ever happens with you when you watch a film, and you understand everything 100% at all times. Also, I guess everyone is meant to be an expert on drug use and addiction recovery.
@@alexp601 casual fans yes but when your job is a reaction channel then you’re held to a different standard. We’re not taking about some mind blowing twist, you could of half paid attention to know those details. My kid knew both of those things without explanation
