I am really vibing the new features in Live 12! Have you tried it already? How does it fit into your workflow? ALSO NOTE!! This video was still filmed in the Beta version!
I try about 3 days, the little strugle I had was understand and balance the pic colour channel levels if was good or not. The colour green pass to yellow, than orange to red. The channel visual is different than 11. One thing I notes is how fast I upload a dj mix to edit it! The rest is perfect, and using Roar is a Must! Until now is the most upgrade and complete version of Live and so much to discover! The best DAW EVER! I had the BETA and don´t need to use it. FULL TRUST in this Ableton guys.
Appreciate your advise on the browser! I genuinely hate what they did by getting rid of the pre-made categories from 11 and the way the 3rd parties are no longer cleanly grouped my developer when you click on plugins. I feel it was a serious step backwards. That said, I see the potential in the new system but they seriously need to bring back the original method to compliment the simpler- less messy workflow and let the advanced new features be optional when someone is ready to use them.
I'm so unbelievably stoked. The key/tuning thing was literally my only gripe with Live. Having the option to set each instrument to a different key is cool but that's rarely what I want to do; having the overall option right there front and center is so much easier.
just checking out your music on spotify after hearing the snippets on this tutorial, wow it's great! Love the vibe. oh and your tutoirials are great too. Still havent upgraded to 12 yet, not sure, might wait for 13 as itll be full of AI no doubt ... (and therefore they wont be able to wait too long either I guess, so IMO it'll be soon)
Honestly I am quite disappointed with the new browser and tagging system. I spent lot of time to organize all my plugins and samples, and I don't want to spend time again to organize them. I feel like they should have built new tagging system upon "old" browser system rather then to replace it entirely.
Its nice we got the midi & key features I had in Cubase7, 12 years ago, and roar is nice, but Live 7 search was actually better and the no1 DJ app not getting stem separation is a poor chow from Ableton imo
I don't really like the browser changes, find myself using cmd+f and searching for the specific thing I'm looking for instead of using a system that doesn't really bring anything useful for me, that being said, creating your own sections in the filter system sounds like a nice workaround... still miss the folder system because now I see stuff I don't want to see, like all the DS Drums, wish i could delete those or at least group them and hide.
In a world where NKS and the like exist (and are supported by other DAWs), the complete lack of a metadata tagging system for plugins (nevermind built in devices too) is just a wild usability fail
it has a bug..... left hand keys suspend ends abrubtly when right hand plays afew keys quickly even though suspend pedal remains pressed. This happens when more than 1 midi track is used. Am usin Arturia keylab 88 mk2...... Analoglab V and Piano V3 does not have this problem.....anyone same issue?
The tagging and filtering is totally annoying and time consuming ... I have plug-in alliance tools I can't even use them anymore ... We the subcategories don't show up .... With the amount of plugins I can't use this upgrade ... For me they destroyed the Dawn .... All the fancy new possibilities stand and fall with the filter system not having access to the categories... I hope they go back to Live 11 and build on the filter there expanding to the new system ... Honestly I can't believe they did this
I have found the new browser functions do not work with Push 2.? Of course it does worth with a mouse but if suffer from Carpol Tunnel that's not so great.
Thank you for the video and the effort! When i try what you showed about creating new Folders in order to organize plugins Live does not show the newly added categories. When i however tried to Re-type it and hot enter again it says „cant create folder cause it already exists“. Weird stuff. I wonder if its a writing permissions thing
LNA i just can't use 12 I have trid from the audio level indicators that go yellow red long before they reach the line to the file system, so i'm saying like most people its a lode of rubbish and one hell of a waste of good money they have rubbished Ableton
Thanks for your insight! Just pre-ordered the upgrade and can't wait to play around with it. The Mixing Window in Arrangement View was on my wish list for a decade now ;)
Yea, fairly new Ableton user here, and I would think the new Mixer Window is something that ALLOT of people thought was LONG OVERDUE! (For sure). Was one of the main reasons, I took a chance on the upgrade from Ableton 11 myself. Can't wait to install 12 and have a look at it. Keeping my fingers crossed with the upgrade though, as I was just starting to learn and get used to Ableton 11. And now I got to download a whole new DAW, after only about 5 months with the previous version. LNA is great though. Have to say, that I learned ALLOT from her videos. (The patience, and the heart and soul she puts into her video tutorials is just awesome). Nothing like it on RU-vid. God bless her...
@@vitomasilottiYeah, she’s a treasure! That’s why we love and validate her :) Only had a very quick look at it this afternoon. Think I’m going to start with learning the new browser features first. Seems essential to move on.
I am new to ableton live 11 , ... folders keep pileing up over the collection places area ....... so trying to clean this up I delete it , but the folders don't delete ..... I can't reuse the folders & I can't get rid of the empty folders in the places section ...... how do I get rid of these empty folders ????
Ok .... got it figured out ..... I did a lot of deletes , erase . trash , commands ect .... nothing happened ...... then I found delete from sidebar ..... that didn't work either ...... but this morning I went back & saw a few folders were gone & tried delete from sidebar again & it worked every time
It's on general release on 5th March, which is tomorrow - but they're taking advance payments if you signed up for an early upgrade. Looking forward to being able to download!
I've been running the Live 12 Beta for a few weeks now and absolutely LOVE it! I have just gotten use to the filtering system myself in the browser, but I agree. I do miss how plugins are displayed. Also a thumbs up for the scaling system! Thanks for your video! I subscribed :)
Great video as always. I personally find the update to be generally overwhelming. Some cool features but still missing some that could have made it great. One feature Live needs is to be able to undock windows from the device area and move them around, resize them, etc. Max devices can already do this. I'm not sure why this isn't already a feature. The browser still leaves something to be desired, not really much different than before. I really like being able to see my devices, mixer, and piano roll on one screen. This feature is about the only thing that has really changed for my workflow, so I don't know that it was worth the $180 something to update from 11.
I left Ableton a few years ago because it was too hard for me to do basic things, and did Studio One, now with more knowledge I'm looking at 12 like this shit looks 🔥🔥
Yes it does! :) The instruments that are on other versions are adressed in the course. If you do take it and have any Q's please feel free to email me and I'll help.
I just received the mail to pay for the upgrade to 12. One more day and I can start playing with it. Thanks for the inspiration to start exploring tomorrow.
I installed Ableton 12 Suite and I hate it. This new VST layout and these tagging gimmicks are a step backward and seem counterintuitive (just my opinion). - Certainly will be switching back to Ableton 11.2.11- where the structure makes sense, custom themes weren't broken and Push 3 didn't ruin everything (again, just my opinion).
Thank you sooo much! I wasn't really sure about the update and if it would bring enough new features that I would actually use... Until I saw the parts about note editing and clip editing. So simple, yet suuuchhh useful additions!
Why Ableton has NOT incorporated ai into its platform to help with the heavy lifting is a mystery to me. The first DAW maker that DOES will leave the rest of the competition in the dust.
Not sure how a comment like this is useful? Just telling others that you no longer like something doesn’t seem at all… productive? What is literally the point? Maybe if you explain why you think one is better. But just saying you don’t like one anymore? Cmon.
When you buy a daw, your only end up using the basic functionality of it only, updates are a con, this woman is a con. She should be telling you don't buy it unless your new as its all you can buy, ableton 10 was the best update and after that was crap, she knows this everyone knows this.
