Hey! Hope you are safe and healthy and I really hope this track made your day a little better in some way. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think! :) What should I do next? A new track? Would you be interested in seeing a walkthrough of the project file for this? Have a totally random idea? Let me know in the comments! Have a great day! Cheers!
I literally just got my Push 2 today! have been having fun messing around with it! I would definitely be interested in seeing a general workflow for you. From conception to live performance and/or some of your thoughts on how you use this instrument for a live performance like this. Thanks for sharing! Kick ass track btw!
@@phonzz Hey! Glad you liked the track and congratulations on the new gear! It's a super fun piece of kit and for me it opened up a whole new world of music ideas and performance possibilities. I approach each video/track slightly differently in terms of workflow so I'm still trying to figure out how to structure a "typical workflow" video. But there should be something up soon. In the meanwhile, I normally include a small set breakdown note in the video description of most of my videos so check that out if you haven't and if you have any questions, I'm happy to help in any way I can. Cheers! :)
Incredible stuff as always! This channel is set to blow up, you’re just too talented. Would absolutely love a walkthrough, or any insight into your process. Keep it up! Stay healthy!
Ahhhh so good to see this in a day like this man. Great vibes, awesome sound design and performance. It's always great to see a Push 2 in action. Good stuff mate.
Very good man, bravo! Nice setup, filming-wise, very nice text-description, and the music hits the spot! Keep going, you're onto something very good here!
Hey man just bought one of these so have been trawling through loads of video's to figure out how it works. I have to say this is the best thing I've heard using the push, very cool and really musical!! Love it, top work! I will listen to this on my way home from work in the car
Hey! Thanks a ton! So glad you liked the track. Congratulations on the new gear. Be prepared to go down a very deep rabbit hole with the Push2! Happy to help if you have any questions. Cheers!
@@TavishMusicOfficial Actually it's the push 1 that I bought secondhand a week ago. I really got it for live looping etc. I never leave comments on youtube video's but I loved your track so much I had to leave a comment. Have you got more tracks like this? There are a bunch of tracks on my youtube too so feel free to check them out. `Anyway If I get really stuck I'll give you a shout, thanks so much for offering and keep making the fabulous music. Do you have a soundcloud or somewhere I can hear more of what you've done. M
@@bongofeet739 Thank you! Really appreciate the appreciation! 🙂The Push 1 is pretty powerful too! There's a couple more videos on my RU-vid page that you can check out. It''s all pretty much live looping stuff using the Push 2 and the APC 40. You can find more of my music on soundcloud.com/tavishofficial . I shall definitely check out your channel too. Cheers!
Can you please make a video about push 2? I own push 2 but actually never used it in a right way hahaha. I was super impressed by your push performance of Ben bhomer inspired track. How to setup and all the other stuffs :D
love it, keep up the good work, it's inspiring. I also wouldn't mind seeing insight to your workflow and layout. For example (I think) you push empty clips to stop a channel rather than using stop clip button, which seems to be easier. Looking forward to more content!
Thank you! So glad you liked the video! Yeah as long as the channel isn't armed, you can press an empty clip slot to stop clips. If it is armed though, it'll end up recording a new clip. That's happened a bunch of times and ended up ruining an otherwise perfectly good take! Good to know there's a couple of people interested in seeing the workflow side of things. I shall get to work on that next. Thanks for the support! :)
fantastic work and very harmonious melodies together with chilled beats. really nice 👍🏼 I also use the Push 2 but I'm not that good yet. I use additional devices for the live performance. But whoever masters the Push 2. Respect ✊🏼
Hey Andrew! Thank you so much! So glad you liked the performance! I have used additional controllers like the APC 40 and the Impulse 49 in some of my other videos but the Push 2 is definitely one I cant do without! :)
@@TavishMusicOfficial yes the Push 2 is definitely indispensable. I like it a lot and I think the Akai APC 40s complement each other. I also use both. continue to have success and such good music 👍🏼
Great video! Got ableton lite a while ago and just ordered the standard and push 2. Any general walk through for a song or utilizing the push 2 would be cool. Maybe some tips :)
Thanks so much! Congratulations on the new setup! The Push is definitely one of the best purchases I've made in a long time! I shall try doing a walkthrough video for this one soon. Curious though... what stage of music production would you say you're at? I'm trying to figure out what experience level the majority of the viewers are at... Makes it easier to decide how to structure the video.
@@TavishMusicOfficial I've played guitar for many years. Just learning with tabs and experimenting a lot. I know nothing about music production so very beginner stages!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! If you're into music production and Ableton is your DAW of choice, the Push is definitely the way to go! Can't recommend it enough! :)
Tavish Music Official I’m currently with Logic Pro X.. but more I see that flow process you can get with Abletone and Push makes me think I need to switch)
very cool performance! I’m interested in finding out the logic by which the project is built, I want to try the same. Could you tell a little about how you do it?
Hey Fedor! Glad you liked the track! :) There's a rough breakdown of the track in the video description actually. I try and put that in for most of my performance videos. But I am working on making a walkthrough video for this one so stay tuned for that. :)
I know I'm late but I really want to see a process video for this kind of thing. As much as you can share. I have a fairly strong jazz background and your improvised live style is exactly the kind of producing I want to do, but it feels like learning a new instrument from scratch (worse even, since the keys can be in any location you choose and there's infinite ways to accomplish the same thing). You seem to have the workflow part down cold, so I'd really love to hear about how you approach a track/session and hear any tips on how to set myself up well.
Hey Jackson! Glad you liked the video. You hit the nail on the head with the idea of there being many different ways of accomplishing the same thing and the Push 2 is indeed, to me at least, more instrument than controller. I'm working on a track project and performance breakdown but I'm struggling a little bit because people from various levels of musical proficiency have asked for a performance tutorial. I'm trying to figure out how to make the video have something informative for everyone. In the meanwhile, there's a basic project breakdown in the video description and I'm happy to answer any questions you have regarding the setup. Cheers!
@@TavishMusicOfficial If it helps, the thing I'd most like to hear about is how you mentally keep yourself organized and how you approach that. I use an APC40 Mk ii, a keyboard, and a wind controller and I have yet to find a good way to organize all my tracks and effects so I can remember where they are when I need them. Even just some screen capture of Ableton during one of these performances would be really helpful I think. Maybe even a template you like to use, if you have one.
Hey, could you do a video about the setting up of your session before you perform? It would be very interesting to see your racks etc. and how you organise your workflow. Great Tunes!
@@TavishMusicOfficial Thanks, really like your stuff. I do produce with Ableton but now learning Push and Live performance. Look forward to the vid! :)
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! Not sure I understood the suggestion you mentioned though... As in a video of me just coming up with ideas? Or how to perform the sets (since they are sort of improvised)?
@@TavishMusicOfficial Oh, I thought they are all planned. So if not, just keep going. I do something with my push also but I don't have the skills to play live yet, so I don't post any video. Hope to get to the level like you. Respect!
The tracks in the videos I put up are planned when it comes to the synths and drums etc... I program a few clips and keep some open for improvisation but the arrangement is totally improvised. I probably do 5-10 takes and they're all quite different and I upload the one I like the most. The Push is super powerful and versatile so the possibilities are endless - both a blessing and a curse in some ways. Just keep at it man. Keep experimenting till you find a workflow that works for you and put stuff out! The reason I started this channel was because I had 4 hard drives full of music I thought wasn't good enough. But I uploaded it and it turns out some people actually like it! Sure, when I look back at some of the videos, I can find tons of faults with the tracks but that's part of the journey of learning and exploring music. the biggest lesson I've learnt with this RU-vid channel is to not be afraid of releasing music. Be critical of your own work for sure. Don't put up every single idea... But don't let the fear of people not liking something or not being "up to the mark" hold you back. Your 10th or 200th track may be a hit but that won't happen till you release your 1st track. You just gotta keep at it. Thanks for the love and all the best man. Happy to help if you have any doubts or questions about Ableton or the Push. Cheers!
@@TavishMusicOfficial Thanks a lot for your encouragement and your caring. I appreciate that and will keep that definitely in my mind. If I have something coming up, I let you know. For now I keep producing stuff. Well, let's see what happens in short future. Regards.
Man you really deserve more views! This is so beautiful! I'm really interested in how you made the "same note arp" at 4:18 ! Is it just 1/16th notes with different velocities or something different? Keep up that good content!
Hey Robert! Thank you so much! So glad you liked the video. I can't remember but I think I played in those clips on the Push and had them set before the performance. I think it was a one note arp and I kept adding a few notes randomly to keep it interesting. 1st clip in that set of four is the simplest and it works it's way up slightly in complexity to the 4th clip. Hope that helps.😊
You have the basis and the music is pleasant to listen to even with the selection of the samples, it is not irritating, you can say that you have spent a lot of time on the selection of the samples if you created them. Thanks
Hey Puria! Congratulations on the Push 2! It blew my mind and opened up a whole new world of possibilities and ideas when I got it....still does! I learnt pretty much everything I know from random youtube videos but if you're looking for a comprehensive paid course to teach you everything about the Push 2, I'd highly recommend Andri Soren's course called "The Push Bible".
Wow! Thank you so much! So glad you liked it! :) A walkthrough for this one and a few of the other performance videos on the channel is in the pipeline. Stay tuned! :)
@@TavishMusicOfficial absolutely! I can't stop watching Ben Bohmer's anjunakitchen session and I felt those vibes right away! Are you planning on doing some tutorials? That would be amazing.
@@sergioiacobucci2189 oh man! You totally made my day! 😄 Ben's been a huge inspiration to my sound. There are tutorials in the pipeline... Just waiting to get some gear so I can shoot em properly.
@@sergioiacobucci2189 Oh awesome! Happy to help, if you have any questions. Tutorials will be up as soon as possible. Thanks for the sub! Hope you enjoy the rest of the content on the channel. :)
@@TavishMusicOfficial Your music is really good man, you should release it. If you want some help & advice with distributors, I can help you out give my tips and experiences
Wow! Thank you so much! Yeah I'd love some tips and advice on how to get my music out there. It's something I've wanted to do but never figured out how.
By far best demo on a push 2 by far. Its hard to find really good melodic and uplifting performances like this as seems everyone into edm stuff. My music is more melodic and complex like this. Inspirations from melodic and progressive trance, uplifting and emo styles. First demo that made my heart strings say i like. Excellent job. I have subbed. P.s i subbed (Glass Fo7est) looking forward to your next uploads :)
Hey Julie! Thank you so so much! Looks like you've really understood what I was going for and you've hit the nail on the head with all the vibes I love and try to incorporate in my work. So so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the sub! Will definitely check out some of your work as well. 😊
If you are more into the melodic and complex sides of electronic music you definitely should check out IDM and related genres like ambient techno. For example this is one of my plalists: open.spotify.com/playlist/5vc9B0z4FXnhFUAvb7H9nh
Ooh! Congrats on Push 2 and say goodbye to sunlight as you go down a very deep rabbithole! I don't do tutorials because I don't know anything new that you can't already learn from RU-vid. Learnt everything I know off of RU-vid tutorials but Im happy to help if you have any questions! :)
Cheers mate! Glad you liked it! I learnt everything I know off of RU-vid and just experimenting. Like anything else, practice helps! Ive been fiddling around with Ableton for about 10 years now so it's a question of familiarity with the software. Happy to help if you have any specific questions.
@@TavishMusicOfficial Really cool and very well played! I DJ on vinyls already for some 5 years and everything from youtube as well. But there still some road to go ahead, so its kind of hard to decide some new stuff. I already have a handpan which would be really nice to play with some ableton beats!
Hello Tavish , im music producer since more than 20 years & your song is very nice, i have played it few time on youtube, i recommend you to find a deep house label, if i would be you i would try the label "Poker Flat Recording" very nice label & i think it could fit the style , again it is a very good song
Hi Travis, this is really cool! I have a synthesizer instagram account, would you mind if I share this there in a one minute video? ill credit you an mention your channel, thanks! :)
Hey Giorgio! Glad you liked the video and thanks for reaching out. What's your IG handle? Sharing the video shouldnt be a problem as long as credit is given its not being monetised or anything. :) I have a one minute edit on my Instagram account if you'd rather just use that. Please tag me (@tavishb) in the Instagram post once it's up! Cheers!
