Here's a summary of all the tips I got from you guys today, thought I'd post in case others could benefit: simssi there's a button in the top right corner of each plugin window where you can choose if keypresses go to the plugin or to FL - I don't if it helps with your space situation though Henkka_huu u can add those own vsts to that list by clicking the star next to them. star will light up orange and that vst will be added to that fl effects/instrument list. u can allso organize those lists Ashley Hollis F8 for plugin database, the best way to add plugins. You have to set it up first though. Ashley Hollis Drag instruments directly onto a playlist track. It creates a pattern, assigns it to the mixer, auto colours and links them all Ashley Hollis Slicer instead of Slicex? DeltaUK_ Btw you can change the order of the plugin by scrolling while your mouse is over them s a d / 1 0 additionally you can scroll your mouse wheel to change the order Ashley Hollis The channel rack number is just for the step sequencer, it doesn't affect piano roll earlymorning you may want to assign instruments to plalist tracks, just like you assigned serum

This is exactly the type of tune I'm ultimately aiming my learning towards. Picked up a few new ways of doing what I currently do in FL through watching this, perfect video. I'll echo what many others have said, more FL content would be amazing. Although you can transfer ideas between DAWs, it's seeing the workflow in action on your own platform that inspires. @@STRANJAH Yeah. I didn't know about the loop function, cause i always just paint the pattern in, but i've heard that the loop function is the primary one in ableton, so i guess that's why you did it. I've never really been good at drawing in sampler patterns, with the piano roll, but knew how to do it. But the thing that really got me, was that you were using the sampler, to control the transients and stuff. i never thought of doing that, and i don't know why

I'd recommend clicking the "interactive step sequencer / piano roll overview" button at the top right of the sequencer pane to switch to the piano roll mode inside the sequencer (it should stay that way permanently until you change it back). This gets rid of the whole "step" thing in the sequencer entirely and makes it act like a quick link to the piano roll for any individual instrument.

Thank you so much !!! When I was a teenager in the late 90´s, exactly breaks like this (Metalheadz Platinum Breakz etc.) nailed me to the jungle/dnb for the next 10 years. And now when I try to produce something (but only as a hobby yet and not primarily dnb) I can see the know-how of the days back then in the aspect of this music I still love! I feel like the breaks are so classic and I recognize them in so many tracks which leads me to the question ... how does it work with royalties? For example I feel free to use the amen break because you can find something about the legal status already on wikipedia and generally it has so massive use over the decades. But what about copter, hotpants or other breaks? Do you know about any problems? I am asking because in 2019 Audio Animals provided remastered breaks like this for free and obviously they had to stop it and lock the comments on youtube by the video celebrating 50 years of the amen break. I think hypothetically - for example I can imagine layering a lot of these breaks in bouncy rap beats so this is quite different business environment ... Thank you and big up!

Your vids are some of my favorite on RU-vid. I have a request for a simple video that I don't believe has been covered completely, or at least on its own yet (as you've naturally touched on on the topic). I'd love a video simply on some popular Amen patterns. Once the break's been sliced to MIDI, I noticed you're able to quickly grab a section and arrange it in a pattern without even hearing it. I'd love for you to go through a couple of these...the pattern that you used for Prominence is mad and would love some insight into it for example. I know theres a lot of info about processing the Amen, but not all that much on rhythmically arranging it. Thanks as always!

fruity slicer is for simple slicing, slicex has way more options if you want to do more with your loops. 3:50 there's no need to turn on that "loop function", your patterns loop automatically. due to the nature of how patterns work, you can have multiple instruments & loops of different lengths contained in one pattern. So those "loop options" you turned on are for when you have for example 4 bar loops & 8 bars loops all in one pattern. turning on that option will make sure the 4 bar loop, continues to loop even after passing 4 bars, while the 8 bar loop is playing(if that makes sense). 3:56 BTW the loop button in the channel rack is for looping in the pattern not the playlist. All though turning on loop button in channel rack & then dragging it at the end to loop a pattern in the playlist is one way of looping patterns(that's a recent feature that was added to help people coming from other DAWs to better adjust), that's not how most Fl users loop patterns in playlist, the easier way is to click the pattern you want to loop, then go to an empty space next to it & "click, hold and drag" to draw the pattern over & over. 6:42 faster way to change the order, is by using mouse wheel. just hover of the slot you want to change & roll mouse wheel down or up to change the order. 8:58 just open the pianoroll and add notes, it will automatically adjust the bar length as you add notes, no need to setup the bar length before hand. 9:15 double click on the pattern in the playlist, it will automatic open the piano roll of that instrument the pattern belongs to. you only ever need to use "key roll" list if you have 2 or more instruments with notes in their pianoroll, all in one pattern. 12:33 you can simply click & drag the audio clip directly into the playlist, that way you can chop it up however you want without have to adjust the ADSR envelopes

I create instrumental music and electronica, as well as a combination, so the more I learn, and be able to afford more platforms, the further my art evolves. Brain food.

even when I produced in FL, I chopped the sample itself. Learning how to scrub etc there was critical. The reason I can't go back, and I've tried, is because those same functions are just a bit easier in Ableton. It's a bit sad, because there's a lot I love about FL (like UI) that you don't get from ableton, but relearning those shortcuts and having to do a little bit more work for every sample/track is keeping me from diving back in.

Also: To jump to the correct piano roll you can right click the respective instrument in the pattern and select "piano roll"
