ABN 2 Sydney Close Down For The Night 1st Of June 1979 

Thanks for finding and uploading this rare ABN2 recording. As a budding young long distance TV reception enthusiast, I recall staying up late for the ABN2 Sydney sign-off during much of 1979. I recall seeing all the test patterns used as seen on the video. Apparently someone accidentally recorded the sign-off, blank carrier, test cards, and final white noise. Given this was recorded during winter, the lower atmosphere troposphere was not favourable for deep fringe TV reception from the nearest available RVN channel 2 Wagga.

TV Follies looks like the replacement for The Saturday Show that had ended in 1978...one is reminded that over-55s in 1979 were all born before 1924 - a completely different world!

When did ABC TV Australia start using this closedown film?, they used it all the way to 1986.
