If you had a problem late in your take-off, about the only choice you'd have is which trees do you want to hit. Spectacular, beautiful country, and completely unforgiving.

Ryan - I'm hearing IGNITION NOISE in your HF radio. I'm concerned that you are having a problem in a magneto or somewhere else that needs to be checked out. If you have noise-blanker in the HF radio that may diminish the noise. Safe flying ! de K5AVJ

You see those fake Jacques-Yves Cousteau titles all over now -- I think a lot of people don't even know they're from Spongebob. And a lot of Spongebob viewers are waaaay to young to have seen "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau" on TV back in the late 60s early 70s. (Sadly, I *am* that old)

Being a pilot myself flying Diamond DA42 in Sweden I enjoy your videos. Nice to see professional airmanship. However, in a country with such a terrain, I would be more comfortable with a twin, although turbines are very reliable. Twin STOL unpressurized a/c with good load capability are available.

Other organizations have used the twin otter here successfully, but the cost of operating a twin just is not cost effective for what we do.

Most pilots only have to worry about birds at airports but you get chickens and dogs. I am glad you are as careful as you are and would love to fly with you. Cannot say that about a lot of pilots looking at where you go but I know the Lord is with you and you do all you can to stay safe. Take care and God bless.

@@johnsmith4589 Years ago a FLANG F-16 had a nose gear collapse after hitting a wild boar while landing. The pilot stayed with the aircraft and got it stopped. Hopefully those that Ryan helps with his flights try to look out for him. I would.

Dogs, chickens, pigs & people, are all part of every day flying into these bush strips. Some cloud on the way to Wewak, then nice and clear over the coast. Another great video Ryan, thanks for the ride.

Yeah.... you don't want a dog strike. At my old company a pilot had a Deer strike. Hit the left prop. It was not pretty.

1 - install a small air horn to get the attention of the animals. But install it backwards so that the horn doesn't scoop up bugs. That happened to my Mack truck air horn

The variation in ground conditions, en route weather and approach to Wewak. Nothing is normal about your flights as each day presents a variety of conditions you have to deal with.

One time I was making an approach to a runway in Colorado and there was a porcupine in the middle of it. I was in a helicopter so I just hovered over it and touched down further down the runway.

Another learning experience for us recliner-chair pilots. If / when I get MSFS 2020, I'm def'ly going to have to get up to speed on the G1000. The more I see it, the more I am coming to prefer it over "steam" gauges. On a different topic from a video several months ago, that atmospheric phenomenon where you see the shadow of an airplane on clouds below, and it's surrounded by a rainbow -- that phenomenon has a name -- it's called a "glory". It has its own article in Wikipedia.

ryan,have been tracking flights of zulu,kilo,and echo on flighttrader,but can not tell which flight you are doing.can you some how flag your a/c so i know where you are.also noticed no static wicks on the kodiak,as you were talking about lightning.cheers enjoy your day.

Is there any safe way to communicate with the people outside the aircraft to ask them to move the dog, or would you have to shut the aircraft down?

I cut it out from the video, but yes, I motioned for them to get it off. They just thought it was okay for the dog to still be right next to the runway
