Many things can be true: • Dragon's Dogma 2 is a phenomenal game with outstanding combat and atmosphere, and if you sunk hundreds of hours into the 1st, you'll have a great time. •Microtransactions and shit pc ports are awful, and it's completely justified to he disappointed and upset about these issues.
I remember in 1998 they weren't always free on consoles. You needed a GameShark for N64 to hack games. Cheats and hacks being hidden behind a payment wall is fine with me. Let the idiots sponsor the development of these games.
Asmon is right, but there is inflation, If this game is alive years from now, they will have to manage and maintain the servers. Yes I gave a thumps down because the port to pc was hourse shit. So far in game I've yet to have issues with getting a hold of the ferrystones and revival stones but if they decide to make the game more inconvenient only because of the pay store then yes it will be on capcon. Because who will play after that?

Capcom isn't the Problem. It's share holders so capitalism basically. They do not give a shit about Video games, just Profits. Is the thing that I was thinking. All other Capcom games had this useless MTX stuff but because the games had no performance issues, no one said a thing about the microtransactions in those games.
The fly in my soup is that they released a character creator with 5 slots for making arisen and 5 slots for main pawns giving an expectation that we would have more then one profile. We currently can't even restart the game SMH.
You can restart. Delete your save file, disable cloud save. Start a new game. Enable cloud save. Cloud save conflict, upload save file instead of download. There. It is annoying? Kinda. But realistically, you are only going to it once or twice at most. Any more than that and its a genuine the fk are you doing man?
The reason why the monetization isn’t as bad in FF14 is because Yoshi P has a bomb strapped to his chest and is threatening to blow up the game and himself with it if Square execs try to ruin it.
Are you high? 30$ outfits, 40$+ mounts, 1$ for a Dye, 7$ for an emote ect ect ect. FF14 monetization is just as bad if not worst than every other games, FF14 players are just fanbois who choose to ignore it and waste all of their money on fantasias to ERP.

Somebody said it felt like CapCom told the devs they must have micros and it really feels like that. It's really not that detrimental to anything but would save money. The character tome is also purchasable in game

In the Shop the only thing which is Fast-Travel related is ONE portable (placable) target crystal. ONE. And this one target crystal is completly useless for you as a buyer, if you don't have any ferry-stones to use them, which so far is ONLY obtainable ingame. And about this "Fast-Travel is detrimental" -> in the sense of they just 'gimped' it so they can sell MTX is one of the most problematic and dumbest Take i've ever read, because this comes from people who neither played dragons dogma(both og DD1 and DD2), or just don't understand the concept of it. The Game is build around traversing and being prepared, not quick escape and miss a lot of 'ambushes' which can happen when you took too long in time and it gets dark and the big bads come out and you don't see anything. This was one of the most unique aspects which i've had about at the first game, said it about the last 12 years that's one of the stuff which i loved most about DD1 - the limited fast travel and how the world is build around, (so way before this interview with itsuno happend which already got thrown at me... i said that way before them said it - and it's not even that i entirely agreed with their interview but that's besides the point) and one thing which i hated the most about the dark arisen expansion, when they added the endless ferry stone because that ruined and took away one aspect of the gameplayexperience from DD1. That's why i was quite happy to hear that DD2 not only gone the vanilla DD1 route but also enhanced it - by adding the ox-carts (dunno how they are called in english) and the camps... because oxcarts is an alternative and more realistic fast-travel which can be ambushed, so not only relying on ferrystones... camps encourage you to explore the world bit more because you don't feel the neccessity to go back to the city as often as in the first one was neccessary. That's why it really annoys me when people claim the killed and artifical watered down fast-travel which on a factual and objective level just isn't the case, but rather 've aimed for the og experience and enhanced it. It's okay to being against MTX esp. in Singleplayer Games and express that. That's one thing, but it's just weird and kinda wrong to use Dragons Dogma 2 as example for that, and esp. lie and spread misinformation, and esp. overdrama/hyperbole so much... because if you would've actually played DD2 and being more neutral / objective on this scenario and look at what you get and how the game actually plays, than you would realize that the MTX wasn't build in the way that they artificial altered the gameplay for it, but the opposite that they just delievered a normal game and slapped cheap cheatcodes on it, and secondly makes them so negligible and useless, that if you buy them you aren't just dumb for buying MTX in (general but also) in a singleplayer game... but also dumb because you got ripped off your money for the most useless thing in MTX History. Like imagine you start playing a game and you finish the intro and get the option to buy for super cheap ingame gold which you have already 4times a basic iron sword, and they sell you the sword for RL Money so you can use it before INtro. That's the level of uselessness they've. It can potential become a problem in the future So it's good to make Capcom aware the boundaries so hopefully they don'T go that far with DD2, BUT that doesn't justify punching down on DD2 (and esp. it's players as well) because so far the MTX for DD2 is one of the tames and there ar emuch much worse examples - even from capcom. I argue if this social-media drama wouldn't have happend most of you complainers wouldn't even 've known and complained (if you would had bought it anyway no matter if MTX are in or not), because you just don't feel any influence of MTX in the coregameplay and experience and it doesn't advertise it ingame. And then you see games like Monster Hunter where you folks went radio-silent which is much much worse than Dragons Dogma - because yes - it's just cosmetics, but that stuff can't be easily earned or to be even more clear - earned at all. And i'd argue if it comes down to MTX - if you have to get anything at all, it's better they sell weird*ss cheatcodes which nobody needs because you get theme asily ingame anyway, versus cosmetics which is purchase only. Like in Rise they sell you unique weapon designs with unique animations where you can't get them ingame or anything equally. But yeah let's complain about DD2 useless bs... -.- like the one thing which from all the stuff in the shop really hurts is the single dlc which gives you the option to have Dragons Dogma 1 music. The only item which have any real value - that's quite sad for a 'Greedy company which alter artificiallly game to sell mtx' that the only valuable thing is music from the first game, because the other stuff is so useless.

Clear as day when Ubisoft started putting xp boosts and resource packs in their games. Somehow they kept taking longer and longer to finish and you needed more and more stuff to upgrade things....strange

Thats the only thing people should complain about. Everything else is buyable in game for in game currency. The not being able to restart or make multiple characters is the only thing thats ridiculous which they have already said they are gonna make a way for people to restart the game. (Not sure if it means deleting and restarting the game or that you can restart with a new character). We shall see

The performance issue is really the main problem. It not only makes it not accessible for low to medium end pc, it also hinders the overall experience and fun you are expecting. Nobody wants to play a shuttering mess of a game even if it is the best game ever.
there is no rig that can run the game well .every npc in the game puts a load on your cpu, so even beefy rigs in towns are going to lag a lot, because no CPU in existence can handle that load. The game doesn't effectively utilize the GPU either so there's only so much performance you can get out of that end.
Personally i saw the recommend specs on steam and said "my pc is too shit for this game" so I didn't buy it even though i was excited for it. I will play it when i get a new pc in the future

My favorite kind of micro-transaction, one I can completely ignore and feel like I'm not missing anything (no micro-transactions would be better though).
I just don't like power buys in a single player game. Having the option there just leaves a bad taste in my mouth as others have pointed out. Plus all the performance issues to top it off don't help, so 70 bucks for this kinda put me off towards buying it. Which is why I am part of the wait to buy gang nowadays. I've been burned too many times buying at launch.
I ended up buying the game because I heard good things about the game itself and I’m having a blast, MTX-free at that. Fightin Cowboy was absolutely right in his video… the MTX in the game are useless. Idiots just spread misinformation about them being necessary for drama farming. You can pay gold to customize your character at a barber, you get more items to teleport than you need, you can have more than one save, etc. Heck, after 15 hours I have not even teleported once because there’s another method to fast travel (ox cart) that only costs 2,000 gold in-game, which is nothing. My take on the whole thing is that people are overreacting. RE4 has MTX that allow you to upgrade your weapons, while Monster Hunter: World has over 200 pieces of DLC that total over $650, yet no one complained. My take on this whole thing is that you either don’t buy the game and complain about the MTX, or you buy the game and you shut up about it, because buying the product effectively means that you endorse the MTX and the way the game is monetized.
Also a one-time purchase and I see people arguing why that is also bad... like wtf did they want unlimited purchaseable portcrystals even though you are limited to ten and can reuse them?

@@bart170 If you know what you're doing when building one, you can get some really good builds for pretty cheap. So, it's not better chance, if you do it right. Also isn't that game 30fps on console? I don't keep up with Dragon's Dogma, so idk if it's capped at 30fps on console or not. Wouldn't say that's smooth. I used to play on Xbox, not saying PC is better for everyone. I paid $1100 for mine and I can run games like Escape from Tarkov with very few issues. The issues I do run into are 90% on the Dev's end.

I think it's worth pointing out a couple things: 1: the infinite ferrystone is unique to Dark Arisen, not the base DD1. Capcom did this kind of "let's soften things up a bit" rebalance on DDDA, with many more portcrystals and a slight easing of restraints, as well as packaging in all its DLC. 2: All the DLCs of DD2 are actually just Deluxe Edition's content. If Capcom had just put "upgrade to deluxe edition" as a button instead of DLCs, it would've been better optics. The real issues of Dragon's Dogma really are the performance and the inability to cleanly start a new game. It's a lot of shit in the way before you can even judge it for a game of such a high price on its own merits.
No it would not have improved optics, as its the same thing and would have been lambasted all the same. A lot of the people raging about the MTX are already upset by the poor performance and boneheaded design decisions, so if the game didn't have THOSE problems the complaints about MTX would not have been as much.
Only one of the DLC isn't included in the Deluxe Edition and that's the Portcrystal. It includes one of the Wakestone DLCs and one of the Rift Crystal DLCs too.

Exactly, i agree. They should have made it more clear that those items are just the Deluxe Content for seperate purchase. And that should have been the ONLY MTX, but they added the portcrystal which was optically very stupid.

Dark arisen dkc really made dragon’s dogma 1 the best, with all the added monsters. Personally I’m having a good fune tib dd2, not focusing on the main story but exploring and so far the difficult monsters are usukly the dragons. Also try to go with less pawns. What bothers me is that in ng+ the difficulty is the same and it doesn’t scale like it did with dd1 every new game…I’m hoping they add the difficulty and all. I soend so many hours in the first game, and I suspect this will also grab my attention for some time but the monsters on the road are ao easy
The map is SO ecouraging to explore. Unfortunately I did that in the starting area and got one shot by everything every time I went off a main road until level 15 or so...

I've been playing with just me and my main pawn. I'm a fighter she's an archer loving the combo. Starting out, it was rough without the extra healing from a mage. But once I lvled and got some decent gear, it's been a blast.
I got into a 30 - to 40-minute fight with a griffin only to run out of healing potions. There were other NPCs involved. Eventually, they died, and I had to retreat myself, the griffin down to 75% health on the last bar. Now I feel the griffin is hunting me.🤣🤣

This was proven a long time ago with Shadow of War (sequel to Shadow of Mordor): it had an online cash shop, and when it was removed they had to re-balance the game.

The main culprit is performance issue notably how CPU demanding it is when you run into towns. Remember that Yakuza Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth has 91% positive rating on steam while pay walling basic feature (NG+) which is only available for $85/$110 editions. In reality, people generally don't care as long as the game runs good.

If you know Dragon's Dogma 1, the challenge was always about surviving the journey to the goal. It is the basis of the game, so fast travel doesn't work here. Too many people never played DD1, so they don't get it. These microtransactions here are minor optional extras. If it was "pay to win" then I'd agree, but it's not.

That’s like saying if there was an option to buy a few health potions in Skyrim that it would be P2W. The only “bad” MTX (it’s bad any of them exist but the only egregious one) is the portcrystal. You get multiple by playing and you still need the in game currency item to use them but having one in the shop is a bad look.

What baffles me the most is: This a single player game, that doesn't give you the option to start a new game whenever and allow for multiple saves and characters.
This is a holdover from the first, and I think a mistake. Keeping the single-save-per-playthrough somewhat makes sense, since you want players to live with the consequences of their actions, but not having the option for multiple characters and making it worse than the first by not allowing restarts (without editing file directory) is lame and only harms playability.
It reminds me of the story of "rested XP" in WoW. Even if the underlying system is the exact same, how it is presented changes how people feel about it. Adding those Microtransactions turns every grind/annoyance in the game from a design decision the player may or may not understand the reason for into a decision that was made with malice to try and extort the player. That change holds true even if the microtransactions were crafted on after the game was completely finished.
Ya I agree with this. Though an "exact same underlying system" and "micros crafted on after game finished" are both probably an extremely generous side of the spectrum. And I'm not sure Capcom deserves to be anywhere near it. I think the 1.99 character change is the most binding to a player. And I don't really care who's responsible for it either. I don't think there was a high bar here, it's just a sad disappointment. And if I had to bet, characters and teleport stones were both probably in game, then cut. And I think for myself, and maybe others, I could still see myself buying the game and enjoying it if it wasn't for locking down a save like that. It feels like maybe it's a gamble ya? I dunno, I'm gonna do other stuff for a couple weeks, then see what I think.

Imagine if Elden Ring or Dark souls sold healing items. THAT is the problem we have with microtransactions, sure it might not matter but it fkn ruins the game experience and it shouldnt be there in the first place AT ALL.
Isn’t another issue that the game doesn’t have a start new game, and on top of that you can’t create more than 1 character for new playthroughs? I remember playing the first game and that didn’t have the ability to create more than 1 character for some reason.

It is because of the pawn system. Having multiple characters would mean the servers would have to hold tenfold more pawns, or even more. It would also be ripe for abuse as people would be renting their own pawns and farming RC, although I guess you could make it so pawns in the same account can't be rented. Regardless, it is a design decision that has at least some reason to exist, and it is consistent with the previous game.
It's definitely important context to say how the DLC/Microtransactions were added last minute without people expecting it - None of it being mentioned at all before release. This led some people to believe "Oh they got the good reviews then added the MTX" The surprise of this added a ton of fuel onto the fire. It's not the best business plan

Now you gotta wonder which "reviews" got the review copies and which were day one reviews I guess. But shouldn't it be a baseline expectation that reviewers would mention the DLC list too? I guess ppl could overlook it, if they're focused on the game itself. I dunno.

I'm yet to try Dragon's Dogma 2, but I played the hell out of the first game and I remember that they had similar microtransactions for Rift Crystals and Ferrystones. By the end of it I had millions of crystals and about 100 ferrystones that I didn't even need because I got the Eternal one that had unlimited uses. Those paid items would only make a difference in the beginning of the game, and honestly I think that difference would be negative. The fun of it was having to traverse the map by foot at first, and then each time you beat the game you had a couple extra teleport spots for your next run. If DD2 is the same, then those microtransactions are equally useless and would only hinder your experience if you did get them. I don't know though because people are talking more about the things surrounding the game then the game itself, which maybe is just because of the performance issues that make it so people can't even play the game lol
Totally agreed, dear god the micro transaction purchase ability isn’t even in the actual game. It redirects you to the steam page. It’s not like other games that open automatically to the in game store. I agree micro transactions are annoying but this is the least invasive version I’ve seen in years. It’s exactly like DD1. Hopefully they’ll do another dark arisen thing that gives you an eternal ferry stone and give us more save files. I just wish the game better for everyone on PC so there would be more people to use my pawn.
Yes but you played DD1 how a new customer would know that most of the items there are trash? Even Josh Strive Heyes thought that portcrystals 'enable teleporting' rather than just giving you one more..
@@Tyanus2 I understand the concern that people who are new to DA may have seeing those items as paid DLCs, but that's just an assumption. Multiple people, including Capcom themselves, have made it clear that all of those items can be acquired in game, including the one to edit your characters appearance which is something that for some reason has had people deleting their save files after an hour of gameplay

@@antoniobaak146y'all are wild, I've played for about 60 hours now and had no idea micro transactions were even in the game, all you people who've never played it acting like a big banner pops up that say "HEY BUY THIS TOO" and on top of that, the MC are useless to begin with since you can obtain all of them with in game currency.
Before micro transactions we had cheat codes that did the same thing. People shouldnt even have the option to consider buying things like fast travel crystals in a full priced single player game. Players should have full control over their game. If they want to cheat in a singleplayer game it should be free with cheat codes, not profited off. A lot of devs and publishers are taking advantage of this younger generation that have grown up thinking microtransactions are no big deal.
Some people need to remember that Dragon's Dogma 1 had many microtransactions, and a lot of people were upset back in the day. In fact, they are almost the same microtransactions we have now in DD2, and many of the items you can buy with money can also be obtained with Rift Crystals, just as it was in the days of DD1 until Dark Arisen came along, bringing with it all the DLC included in the original Dragon's Dogma. So, maybe when the expansion comes, it will include all the DLC again. It seems that CAPCOM didn't learn their lesson with DD1.

I’m just going to wait for the goty edition then. I played DD1, but about a year after it came out. Then I bought dark arisen when that came out. I’ll just use a similar strategy for this. Thank you for the explanation. It helped inform my purchasing decision.
The thing that almost made me uninstall and refund is not being able to have multiple saves or a simple "new game" function and that I had to go through a bunch of hoops to get around the cloud and waste more time remaking my character cause I can't access the character creator.
it's definitely stupid that no option exists, but the "bunch of hoops" is literally two steps. 1. disable cloud saves. 2. delete a folder. i've spent about 10x more time remaking my character than figuring out how to do it.
Gacha gaming microtransaction practices have seeped into the mainstream market. These practices must stop to stop this kind of exploitative/predatory/greedy separation of content.
There will be a lot of people conplaining. I’ve read the good bad and ygly and I have my own opinions about wha I think would be better. The game just came out and it will probably get updated over time. It sucks that this is the state of gaming nowadays, as many people say that games come out rushed or unfinished, but that’s that. All in all I’m also having a lot of fun. I played dd1dark arisen for a very long time, and ai’ve been waiting for a second game. Even seeing that some things can be better I’m also having a lot of fun exploring and challenging myself to either go with my pawn or alone. I find the world is so big, I just discover today the location of a portcrystal which I wasn’t expecting to find at all
Remember the grind Ubisoft created in a single player game to sell XP boosts. The threat is real. 4 times the size of the 1st DG game but we will give them the same number of fast travel stones to find just to make it a little inconvenient.
I broke my pre order rule 3 times in my life(so far). No Mans Sky, Cyberpunk 2077 and now Dragons Dogma (2). Disappointed all 3 times at launch, 2 of which are now playable. I hope this will be the case for the 3rd one too because I waisted more than 2h in character creation and now I can't refund... Moral of the story, I shouldn't be pre-ordering games and probably neither should you. That being said, I pre-ordered the game for 41€ instead of 70€ from a deals site. 😂.

I’m not a fan of the precedent this could set with future games purposely launching with little micro transactions like this. While Dragon’s Dogma 2 still has these items in their game you can earn, what’s to say the next game will do the same?

Let me start by saying this - The fact that there ARE microtransactions is dumb, noone is denying that, we can go without them existing in first place None of them are in any way needed, as you can obtain everything the DLCs have in game, other then the Camping Kit and the pendant, and on not of Camping Kit, there is actually far better one obtainable in game as well, so you are paying for easier time early game, if that is what you wanna do (I dunno about the pendant since, as a sane person, I did not buy it) However everything else is obtainable in game, and it's not even hard There is no 'cash shop locked character editing', you can buy one if you want sure, but you can also buy them with in game currency There is no 'cash shop locked teleportation', you can obtain them in game if you actually play the game more then 30 minutes and start review bombing/misinforming people There is no 'save slots to buy in cash shop', it is true that deleting your existing safe is kinda annoying since you gotta do it manually and that should not be a thing, but you can't buy save slots There are no other items that you can only buy in the shop and not in game, you can get the harpy lures, you can get the revive stones, you constatnly gain rift currency So long story short, they are utterly pointless and if you buy into them, that is on you Don't go around the internet, especially as a content creator, misinforming people without actually researching stuff up properly and simply taking what random people on the net are crying about that probably did not even bother looking up if what they are saying is true The only things people should be mad about are this - Performance, while I myself actually can run the game fairly well even on older system, I know plenty people who have trouble with that - Denuvo post launch, nobody knew about this, it was added post launch and as always, Denuvo sucks ass - Capcom stance on modding equaling cheating and you getting banned for that, that is incredibly stupid take even for game company But everyone is too busy whining about 'oh no there are microtransactions in this game' (Don't fucking buy them), and then they go back to WoW/PoE/Genshin etc. to buy their favorite skins/mounts and so on, either all microtransactions are bad and you should not buy any of them, or stop complaining about ones that literally do not matter and anyone with half a brain can see that and say 'Yea I am not buying that'
it's arrogant af that they didn't include it, but the game is sort of built around not needing to make a new character. unlimited NG+ cycle, you can switch to any class at any time, you can change your appearance for free. same for your pawn. it's a bit like FF14. obviously you can also just delete your save folder in the meantime

The micro-transaction defenders will continue to ignore the GIANT ELEPHANT in the room as usual: When a dev produces micro-transactions for a game that increases convenience, they also develop the game to be MORE INCONVENIENT. This is their entire strategy; to incentivize purchases they actively ruin the player experience with less enjoyable content that wastes the users time because it simply funnels some of these users to "pay for convenience". There's a reason Lost Arc is as bad and un-enjoyable to play for a F2P player as it is, there's a reason developer studios pay psychologists to help design their games in the most consumer unfriendly manner possible. Versus a version of the game without micro-transactions, developers will lower drop rates, exp gain rates, increase travel time with nothing to do, make grinding less time-viable for most people, etc. This isn't even common sense, this is factually by design.

Remember fighting games back in the day? Beat arcade mode with a character which then unlocked another character for you. Now it's all seasons of dlc. Granted there was no online play back then. But I still miss getting rewarded for playing the game
Performance problems are a problem. I dislike the fact my mid-high rig struggles in cities, but I had no problems aside. Never crashed. Never found it unplayable. The lack of an easy new-game feature is a problem, but there are easy solutions that I cannot figure out that people missed... like deleting one's save. Did that 5 minutes after starting after a minor issue. The microtransactions add ease-of-play and have not been forced as a core component of gameplay. The intent is to NOT FAST TRAVEL EVERYWHERE. The microtransactions are for items that you can easily farm up and use yourself. They do not take -anything- away to not have them. I didn't even know it had microtransactions until people started crying about it in ignorance. Not being able to change a pawn's name is really stupid, and hopefully is adjusted. That's about it. Hopefully they fix the performance issues. It's a shame that folks are going to skip a great game because of a hate-campaign based in ignorance.
It's a shame that good gameplay is being used to shield exploitative business practices. If the game sucked you would be with the rest of us trying to fight back against these incremental steps to screw consumers, but because it's "fun" you're willing to turn a blind eye. Tbh you can change your main pawns name because it's your actual pawn. The other pawns you hire are other real people's pawns, so it would make sense if you couldn't change theirs.
Being able to delete and restart from the beginning is actually a core game feature. This game is an actual game that does not give you base game functions.

If these microtransactions were not predatory, I would bring up cheat codes and the game shark from back in the day. Cheating has always been in video games, at least for a while.I think the difference is having to pay for this stuff, especially since like deadspace 3
not sure i understand your point. the game genie and gameshark did cost quite a bit of money lol. they were the 90's equivalent of today's cheat trainers (that also often cost money). DLC cheats like these are just the publishers trying to make money instead of the cheaters
This is mostly just a repeat of Dragon’s Dogma 1’s launch. If you disagree, I’d suggest you go watch (or at least try to stomach) Angry Joe’s 11 year old review, which within the first minute or two talks about how the game bombards you with the optional dlc which was almost exactly the same. I think the big difference is social media. I did know anyone who really gave a shit about twitter or Reddit or anything like that. When Dark Arisen came out later, all that optional dlc was all bundled into that package, along with other items like the eternal ferrystone. You still needed to play the game a while to get the single character edit. You had to play quite far into it to unlock unlimited editing. I already know how good the first game was. I got it 5 times between 4 systems. I had 2 level 80 original characters, and 3 Dark Arisen level 200 characters. I’m just happy to have new content after a decade, and if other people don’t like it, that’s fine, but it hasn’t changed the metrics even a little from the game that came out 11 years ago. How we communicate about it has. Everyone is trying to hype games up lately as if the industry has been lacking, but between this game and Helldivers, you are just getting the exact same games you never played the first time.
There definitely is a concern about devs ramping up difficulty for the sake of pushing you towards paying. It's worth noting DD1 also had very harsh penalties for dying the same way (and I don't think you could pay for them). The game isn't designed around infinite respawns like Souls. The respawns are achievable for free though, and you can reload instead of using them. DMC5 had the same system, monetizing the respawn system that was present in 1-4. It definitely does compromise the integrity of the challenge a bit and is worthy of critique. For what it's worth though, I don't think it factored into actual development. (Again, they are fucking stupid and shouldn't be end the game tho)
The microtransactions really aren't that bad. What's inexcusable is one save online no restart, Denuvo and the awful performance. The fastest cpu can't maintain a 60fps, with bad stutter. Please watch the Digital Foundry video.

20 hours in and im loving it. I haven't needed a single one of these microtransactions. Sure the performance could be better in towns and cities but other than that its 70 frames and above. (Although im not a framerate nazi so idc either way) the only thing i wish i could change in the amount of fast travel stones (forgot name)

What do you mean Ferry stone isn't in the game? Merchants in game will have them sometimes and ive found a couple myself by exploring. They're rare, yeah but they exist.

@alita8900 I keep mine on me in case I'm low on Health, it's dark asf, and I see no campsite nearby and I'm surrounded by enemies I usually find a safe corner to drop it down and poof back to town to find an inn then poof back when I'm healed 😂 then I pack it back up for emergencies. I find myself in this situation more often than I'd like to admit.
Legit the only reason I chose to not buy this game is because of the save system. How in the actual fuck is it possible for a AAA game to come out where you only have one save slot, you can’t restart a game, and auto saves override manual saves? Absolutely insane.
I don’t think it was a design oversight. The developers specifically talked about how they wanted it to be like that to prevent save scumming. I have no problem with that because they designed the game a certain way and after playing it for a while I can see why. It does ramp up the stakes of going on long treks or trying to take on big monsters. It makes you plan and really think about your abilities and the pawns abilities.
the autosave thing I think is fine because anti-save scumming is a part of the design of the plot, that and 1 save per character I think is fine. there's no real reason to not have multiple character slots or have an easy accessible way of restarting the game though.

Why would you willingly reduce the amount of people who would enjoy your game from something that the devs shouldn't care about? I save scum in games, it's how I enjoy them. I like seeing how different things play out and then pick the one that I liked the most for that playthrough. It's how I enjoy games. If you're deliberately designing your game to not allow that, I'm not interested and you don't get my dollars. Easy as that.
The story is congruent to the first in a sense that also makes little sense, it's complicated but simple. The pawns acknowledged this when mentioning other worlds, they don't necessarily mean dragons dogma 2's world. It also encompasses dragons dogma 1, it makes little sense I know but that's just how it works.

I feel like the stone should be time-gated for early players. Mainly just to extend the play time of DD2 players for the first 3 months. Eventually, I think the infinite ferry stone should be 1 dollar or free. Also, I was hoping the land would be transformative via story milestone and cutscenes.

It's the usual F2P stuff. But they can put this on single player games as well if players are not bothered/decides to ignore and not complain about it from the start..

@@DroidzART89 It's the opposite. I'm not speculating, I'm playing the game. RC just get's easier to get the further you are into the game. Since RC is the main bottleneck to get the transformation tome for changing your appearance, and the incense to change your pawns personality. The Port crystals are *permanent* and carry between new game +'s. You can have a max of ten, which means you inevitably hit your cap regardless. Ferrystones can drop from some enemies- and those enemies do respawn, but you can also buy them from shops. Their stocks do refresh. Tents are reusable. The elite tent you get from a quest in the border outpost is actually the best one in the game. You can get an infinite use gaol key easily as part of the MSQ.
