You fans like your videos for fun challenge runs and the unique story your insert in the videos. My personal favorite is the beast claws in bloodborne. But this... come on man WTF
@@datguy4131 Agree. Hes becoming The Lazy Peon or Cohn Carnage. They only make video when they get paid by sponsors to shill games. I agree with some sponsorships in challenge runs, but making a whole video just to make the bank and shill is just putting me off the channel
Not the new Elden ring DLC, a bunch of baby brats who thought they were hot shit at Elden ring and then Fromsoft smacked them down like a dad when his son thought he could beat him at arm wreaseling
@@MsMoonDragoonI agree, while it there were some tough bosses I cleaned it up in about a week. Like I said to many people who thought they were hot shit after 2 years of practice on the base game.
Not really. I've played at most an hour of DS1 and hated it, and I agree with him. It's the difference between Easy difficulty and the game cheating in your favour.
@@darkwhispersstories47 that doesn't seem like a red flag to me , more like a shitty mechanic. Unless they have some incentive for the enemies not dropping any loot Like they have with the whole "doesn't matter what you wear you'll look the same unless you buy a skin " which clearly says that its meant to be just another fashion game for whales like so many other asian mmos
So I watched the video because I want to support Lemon, but I refuse to touch this game because it is owned by Tencent, which is a terrible company, at least from the perspective of a consumer. Also Lemon had very little good to say about the game.
@@Kodray8329 Tencents track record of "good" games is few and far between commercially they work fine on a consumer end of things they are just shit polished different ways
Yeah, I'm glad to see they're getting the negative review they deserve. After they got involved in TERA (via Bluehole/Krafton) the game started going downhill each update, and now they're putting out this garbage that put too much of their shader budget into the water and non into their characters and basically ripped the UI from TERA but made it worse... Even if I didn't know how garbage their business practices are, I wouldn't touch this game with a 20ft pole, and I'm glad Lemon ripped into it.
@cyrus6461 just like I love Raid Shadow Legend. Never played the game but know they pay top dollar to some of may favourite yourubers. Lemon deserves to be paid for all great vids he made
@cyrus6461 it's one of those things where I am glad he is getting paid but also I lose a bit of respect for him. If this is where he wants to cash in rep for cash, I get it.
I want to go back to GW2 but won't be able to afford the expansion for the foreseeable future. The spears look like sooooooooo much fun for the characters I play, and even some I don't.
I was curious about that too, but when I actually got to the “bad” part - the criticism was mostly directed at the voice acting, and translations from Chinese to English not being 100% correct… I don’t know about you guys but personally I don’t care about the voices of NPC’s or if they call me character a “he” when it’s a “she” To me, the important part is that the game is fluid, PvP is balanced and PvE is entertaining. Which it is. And the fact that the game advises you during raids or dungeons when to dodge or to nuke adds etc, is great? I personally cant think of anything more frustrating than a raid wipe because of that 1 out of all 10 people in your group is a dummy. Repeated failures and a team disbanding because you rather have them “reading up on the boss prior to the fight” or “downloading a separate add on (like Deadly Boss modes or whatsitsname) like you had in World of Warcraft… So if you actually take the time to play through the video you’ll probably agree that most of his concerns will likely not be any of your own.. I’m actually starting to think that these negative reviews are mainly happening because it’s “trendy” to hate on the newly released MMORPG, rather than legitimate concerns. Like P2W, OP classes, bad game design, graphics or player community game development which actually affects the gameplay experience… I’ve played it for a few days now, haven’t paid a penny and to me it’s a great game. Generally topping the dps charts and doing well in both BGs & Arena. 10/10 would recommend, and 100% agree that there are some improvements which could make the game better, but that’s far from saying it’s not already good. Give it a go, or don’t, up to you of course but honestly best you can do is make your own opinion based of your own experiences
@@NoFaceNoName-j6b i'd rather not trust Tencent, sooner or later it'll become plagued by ads and "gift" offers. i mean they're welcome to prove me wrong, and that they finally decided to put the player before profit, as well as refuse to use various ways to subtly force propaganda of ccp, etc. hope you have fun in it and remain pure f2p, without one monetary transaction in it
i mean ya thats wat happens when u get a soulslike youtuber to review an asian mmo, even if hes played mmos before asian mmos are not comparable to western mmos, 2 completely different things basically 1. theres 3 different ways that an asian mmo is made, its either MASSIVELY grindy with p2w aspects for the ppl who dont want to grind/the ppl who want to be number 1 2. its EXTREMELY casual friendly with very little grind and mainly focused on cosmetics as there way to monetize, these mmos are usually meant for phone gamers 3. a mix of the 2 above, it has super grindy mechanics and p2w aspects, but also has a very casual experience on the surface, but its still mainly meant for phone gamers the marketing, mechanics, and systems in asian mmos usually are extremely anti western so most ppl outside of asia will not like them
@@VenoPlonk Yes, as I do not want to support the oppressive government now using the name of China. Tencent is one of the moest companies intimate with this government. I also do not support North-Korean, Venezuelan, or Russian companies.
Tencent is not making this game - they're not making any games because they're not a development studio. This game is published by Tencent. So is League of Legends, ArcheAge, PUBG mobile, and others. They're mostly an investment corpo and a pretty good one at that because eof their relatively hands off approach. They have stakes (often majority) in many companies you probably heard of or whose products you even like - GGG (80%), Epic Games (40%), Riot Games (100%), Ubisoft (5%), Activision-Blizzard (5%), Supercell (84.3%), Paradox Interactive (5%), Sharkmob (100%) and many many others and not jus limited to video games. The game is still shit, I'm just setting the record straight.
@@AlejandroRodriguez-cy8eeif you don’t understand the difference between publishing and developing you are a lost cause and not worth explaining anything too
@@oneone99able l think he meant it that, for example, if EA is publishing a game, but not developing it, it won't matter since it's either going to be a greedy live service grindfest, or the studio will be disbanded because they "didn't perform well enough". At this point who makes it doesn't matter since the investors are the ones that most of the times shove bad decisions in videogames through the higher ups in the development studios.
@@LyseanEmpire but it’s a distinction that matters, much like how people attribute every crime the ccp has committed to tencent as though it’s 1 to 1 All that serves to cause is confusing people who don’t understand the difference and then you get people like commenters here thinking that tencent “caged china”
This has to be the best video you have released. Not for the content, which is preety good, but because it shows that you are an objective, fair commentator. Lemon is not for sale.
@@ActualCatfish of which over half the runtime was spent saying "don't waste your time with this, I'm only here because it's my job" and arguably the tameness of the good points felt like a red flag too; if the best thing you have to say about the game is that the class intro scenes are nice and there's a couple of useful UI elements I figure the rest is a steaming pile.
@ActualCatfish As Doomsday said the video very neatly shows that Lemon isn't for sale. That even with money being paid to him, he's not gonna sugar coat it if your video game is bad. Which tbh it wouldn't surprise me if he's turned away sponsorships who went "no you can't do that" and tried to insist pros or good points HAD to outweight the cons or bad points of the game. Because companies DO try to do that. After all it's one of the reasons sponsorships are required to be disclosed. So we're informed of any potential bias the sponsored may have. But we see here that Lemon has no bias. He tells us straight up. "This video game has a ton of issues, the bad outweighs the good, and it might work as a beginner MMO if they fix those issues." which tbh lbr we all know they aren't. And the good, as Doomsday also mentioned, aren't uh...great good points. Definitely not enough to really carry a game.
As someone who worked QA before, I can almost certainly assure you QA found these problems. Most of the time companies are quite aware of the shortcomings^^ And then have complicated reasons why they don't get around to fxiing them, many of which rather questionable xD
Also QA - they absolutely flagged these issues MULTIPLE times only to be slapped with a WNF nor NAD, which is ridiculous. (Will Not Fix / Not a Defect) For all y'all out there, never assume QA hasn't found it. Assume the severely underpaid and understaffed QA team tried their best to get these things fixed only to be shot down by developers/product owners.
So much of this game looks like an amalgamation of other MMOs. I wouldn't even say it looks bad, but MMO players have every reason to be jaded at this point, especially where Tencent is concerned.
It's not that bad, after spending several hours, I can say it's really not that bad, quests feel very similar to WoW, except here you also have more tp points on the map and auto-pathing, instances and raids are also not that bad and similar to the original, also what I really like about it, is that you really have to read the strat guide to every boss or you'll wipe a lot and being a healer really activates more than two brain cells
@@oscaranderson5719yeah, I always laugh at the rip-off comments. Not defending this game but most times that term is thrown around it's by people who don't understand what inspirations are apparently.
The note about how the game straight up gives you the answers made me think it'd be hysterical if FromSoft did something similar in their next game, but it turned out all the answers they were giving you were intentionally wrong
I would absolutely lose it if, as an april fools joke, fromsoft added a mini dlc into elden ring that did exactly this. Maybe add a character that gives advice on little known mechanics. Maybe make the advice correct enough that its believable, but juuuuuuuust wrong enough to screw anybody over that believed it.
@@ltntwafflz9043 Have the character give helpful advice like: "Illusory Wall Ahead" (solid wall) "Try Jumping" (next to cliff) "Imminent Danger" "Beware the liar" "Try attacking!" (next to Blaidd) "Be Wary of Mimic" (next to amazing chest) "Amazing Chest Ahead" (next to trapped chest)
I really enjoy these types of videos. Makes me feel like a friend is telling me about a game he got and whether or not to try it. Your honesty in these is a breath of fresh air, good show!
Thank you for mentioning The Secret World, instead of their attempt to definitviely burry an amazing game with Secret World legend. I miss playing it so much, it was truly a gem.
I appreciate that you speak frankly despite the sponsorship because hoo boy that just killed any chance I would've given it. Hopefully they'll iron out some of those issues with time but that character customization is a huge blargh for me
it's Proxima Beta/Level Infinite and Tencent, they won't fix anything, just increase the amount of cash shop items until they kill the game, then make an asset flip that they can rinse and repeat it with.
I'll be honest, the biggest "WTF" Red flag for me was that the open world enemies were completely worthless outside of quests lol. The reason I fell in love with my first MMO (FFXI) was because the open world was /everything/. Enemies were scary, the Notorious Monsters you could find, exploration was rewarding if not at least satisfying and rewarding. An MMO with a complete lack of discovery just seems like a horrid idea. No gear/weapon skin changing outside of cash shop also seems horrid, cosmetics is the real endgame of most MMOs and I guess they knew that which is why its all behind a pay wall, but sh*t even "Cosmetics: The Game" MMOs tend to always have visible changes tied to their armors and weapons, with premium cosmetics just being a flare above the rest. All in all this game looks... Tencent, and 'mobile'.
Hey Lemon, dont listen to some of these comments. I get why some are mad, but a channel has to do these sometimes. You did a honest review and its not over the top like some of the youtube adds of ppl screaming "lets gooooo!" Over some dumb things. You keep making great videos and us actual fans will always be watching em!
~sobs in the tank not eating the fruit when I tell him to in Aurum Vale~ You asked! You asked how many stacks I wanted everyone to eat at please!!! Fun times in Aurum Vale....not even always as healer...
I loved the Baelin reference from Viva La Dirt League. As for the game. It's not a great first impression when the first thing I see is a ripoff Breath of the Wild intro and a tauren from WoW. It just looks like trend chasing and a serious lack of creativity.
Great vid Lemon! I have to say though, that the game including warnings of raidboss skills/attacks/description of mechanics is the same thing as it including the dps and threat meters when you are a healer. (as in most people would just use addons/read the wiki anyways instead of experimenting and learning [it would be great if using these systems were optional though]) On a conceptual level I understand why they did this. If you think of World of Warcraft and its addons and the way people use them then it is evident this game clearly took inspiration, and decided to integrate a lot of the functions that people add to wow with addons. I have not seen people play wow, and do serious raids without some sorts of warning addons, mechanic alerts, consulting strategy guides beforehand etc etc. I think in our pursuit of optimization in mmos we have long since abandoned the player discovery aspect of most content as only a small percentage of very committed players get to feel the joy of discovery, the rest of the playerbase expects everyone to read the guides of these committed players. I am not saying that it is a good or a bad thing that this game includes systems like this. I just wanted to say that conceptually it is appropriate for the game to integrate all of these core/basic supplementary addon systems if it decided to integrate any of them. The other points I made lead down rabbitholes of thoughts that would make my comment even longer. Thanks to everyone who read this far and have a nice day!
@@TheReaver1234VLDL is Viva La Dirt League. The reference is at 1:57, and if you don't understand it, search RU-vid for a video called Baelin's Route.
When “the good” section is basically the character creator is alright and you can skip everything you know it’s a trash heap As a rule I assume every Asian mmo especially from Korea and China is a mtx ridden ptw grindy soulless mess that far outweighs any fun the gameplay may have. I am rarely wrong.
I will continue to play the game because honestly, what other MMO could I play ?? I like to play the dungeons, the equipment system is fine What is annoying as hell if the crafting system, it s terrible. I will never buy anything, it s annoying that the equipment doesn t changeyour look, that enemies doesn t drop anything, I agree with a lot you said. BUT It s free to play, and it s by far the best free to play MMO I have seen since my mmo died 2 years ago (Order and Chaos). I tried Diablo Immortal, to much P2W, and yes WoW is miles away from this, but WoW cost like 10€ a month... So yes it s chinese, yes there are a lot of pbs, but what else is there ??
The reason why they don't mind paying you to promote their game even though you are going to trash it, Is because they know that certain vulnerable people will play and become addicted regardless of your opinion and you are providing them value with publicity which helps them reach their future victims. I've never watched one of your videos, i've never heard of this game before today, but it's all over my feed now. Looks like it's working. And in the future you can look at their player numbers and laugh all you want, but there will be a core group of sick people who are being abused by games like this that will need help.
Thank you for your opinion, dear Lemon! 😊 See? That is why I love this channel. Criticism is transparent und constructive and we'll see how this game turns out to be in the future! 🎉🎉🎉
confused.. this guy called Dungeons.. "Raids" he didn't even play enough to get to a raid...Also he said every class has the same skills... no shit... on that note there are two seprate healing paths in the same tree.. soo preist CAN have different heals on their tab... this guy didnt play enough to make a video...
As far as we are aware IRL lemon is able bodied. Lemon (youtube avatar, drawing, knight & the Undead ) both do not have fingers/hands just little glorpy orbs that grab thing Rayman style
One thing that disproportionately bothers me is the fact that all the classes are gender locked, maybe I’m just spoiled by the games I play but in all of them you can play any gender you’d like as any class you like, excluding games like Horizon where you are playing as a specific person. I don’t know why this bothers me so much but it jumped out the moment I saw you go through the classes.
Hearing the words "a quick shout-out to Tencent" actually made me cringe I get that you need to pay the bills, but your deal with them should have also included being allowed to openly call them evil while displaying a massive "DO NOT ACTUALLY GIVE THESE SCUMBAGS ANY MONEY" banner over the entire video.
it's still being made he has been working on it whenever he gets the chance, which is difficult given that he works a full-time job and has literal terabytes of footage to sort through
do...do you realize how much multiple terabytes of footage is to go through? Much less edit? Alongside his day job and still making other content for his channel? Oh and spending free time with his loved ones so he doesn't burn out? And sleeping? There are only so many hours in the day and he needs to take care of himself and his family first. Which means not neglecting his other responsibilities like sponsor fulfillments, making sure bills can be paid, ensuring his relationship with Mrs Lemon is healthy, all the basic healthcare needs, etc.
I watched most of this but couldn't finish it. Less that you're sponsored by tencent or you shilling for a crappy Skinner box, though all that feels really bad, and more that it's... It's just boring. Sorry, mate, hope the pay was worth it. I'm just watching challange runs from now on.
I mean, the game itself IS boring, so I guess you could say that he gave it an accurate depiction. Also, how is he shilling for the game when the video is overwhelmingly negative about it? He says it's not worth playing, that's the opposite of shilling.
Sorry, dude. Can’t watch this video. Tencent is bad business and I won’t have anything to do with them. You do what you want to do, but if you put out a video sponsored by them or supporting them then I’m not watching. See you in the next one.
Yeah he isn't really supporting them lol. His review in tldr form is "Maybe IF they fix the MANY issues I listed it would be a good baby's first mmo. Maybe. If they fix the issues." More like getting paid to make a critical review on them...by the company themselves.
OP what are you yapping about? You clicked on the video, making the vid gain more traction... you already wasted your breath (or energy in this case, whatevs) in typing and posting this comment lolol
He spends most of the video bashing the game and telling you not to play it, how is that "support"? He took their money and then still badmouthed the game, that's a net loss for Tencent. You should be praising him for fleecing them, if anything.
I agree with lots of what you’re describing. However, the underlying issue is a difference in culture around success and leisure time between China and the west. The average Chinese player is going to have a 30 minute commute in the morning and evening to play during their 6 day/14-16 hour work day to play. They don’t have the same amount of leisure time to invest to grinding out and work out the mechanics of a raid or dungeon so everything needs to be quick and easy. Also, Chinese culture is about someone with knowledge telling those lower what and when to do something and there is only one correct way. Innovation and difference are not valued. Parents, students and school managers expect teachers to just tell students the answer which they then recall to get exam success. Same at work the boss tells you what and how to do things and you just do it. Also, nothing is ever finished by polishing the fine details. It’s a good enough culture. That being said if they want the western market and to eat into wows fan base they need to address these things… however, for what it is I’m enjoying it.
something you said about the skill choices reminded me of an old MMO called "Rift", by Trion Software. their main selling point was the ability to choose 3 sub-classes, called "souls", then mix and match them to make unique characters. BUT, all skills have power levels based on HOW MANY SKILL POINTS YOU HAVE IN THE SAME SOUL! so, the ONLY effective way to set up ANY character is to max out ONE soul, leaving you with just enough points to add, AT MOST, 3 low-level skills from other souls. my personal favorite was the "Chloromancer", a mage that can also cast healing spells.
lack of for english audio QA and general giving a semblance of a care for localisation seems to be a trend for chinese games - at least based on wuthering waves and hoyoverse - both could probably have done with some name changes and better direction for the voice actors from what i’ve seen granted it’s for a foreign audience but japanese game companies manage it and they’re using a related enough language and are in the same geographic region so sod knows if that’s an alright excuse
The fact this game is out and I have NEVER once seen or heard of it...that really tells me all I need to know before even leaving the overview lol. EDIT: It isn't on steam. Oh my god. No wonder it's already dead. It's insane developers still doom their games like this. For the love of god people if you aren't one of like 5 gigachad top tier hypebeast developers, don't EVER release off of Steam or your game is legitimately 100% doomed.
I definitely think not all gear needs to have an character appearance change, such as low rarity and common gear…but weapon type and rare gear should. Also Tarisland is basically a mobile MMO, but changed more than most to fit PC.
$45 for skin? Insane. Although, I get what they were trying to do with the raids, copying WoW and everyone just raids with DBM anyway so why not just include it in the game. But the execution sucks.
