👍 The Buck 110 is an excellent folding knife. I have owned them for decades, I now have 7 of them with different blade steels and handle scale materials. I just bought one with aluminum bolsters & liners and carbon fiber scales (much lighter), so my mistake I now have 8. However, nothing compares to the original with solid brass bolsters & liners. Yes, it weighs 7 ounces, but really 7 ounces - not that heavy! I HATE pocket clips and it is a little large for pocket carry so I carry my 110s in belt pouches. Get a real original style Buck 110, you will love it!

mine came in the mail today, loveit! the standard 11o has been my edc for years, this one is so much lighter,only required a few strokes on the stone to be shaving sharp, no blade play perfect!

Like you said. Just a few strokes on the stone and leather strap and ya got a razor sharp knife again. Buck 110 is an Awsome backup knife for woods.

Broke down and bought one on sale. Mine also has some slight up and down but very little (if any) side to side blade play. It will probably develop side to side over the years but if it gets unsafe I'll send it to Buck for repair. It's so light you'll forget it's on your belt. Mine sharpened up nicely and I think it's worth every penny of $24.

Sorry but that's not the first light weight Buck, I bought the Bucklite back sometime in the 90's, closed it's 4 1/4" the blades 3" with a cutting edge of 2 5/8", handle is textured plastic but it's thicker and has finger grooves, the ergos are great! I have put it through hell and still No play at All, I don't know what model it is, just says Bucklite on handle, stamped USA on blade, a lanyard hole would be great, but it weighs Nothing and I've touched up the edge by stropping it on my belt when I've been using it a lot. I would like that 110, but it's got play in the joint out of the box, my Buck Still doesn't.

Buck lite 422. They were made from 1983-94, or somewhere thereabouts. Basically a 112 with a plastic(?) handle. It was the first Buck I bought when I was in the Navy. My first one, if memory serves me, is somewhere on the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Man I hated losing a good knife.

I had the 110 aluminum but sent it back. The 110 was not for me. However I love the 112 . Not sure I would purchase the polymer version but I would purchase a 112 Ranger aluminum if Buck ever released one.

As for the "hump"...I timed it. It took me five minutes with the coarse side of my portable Smith's diamond sharpener. Then two minutes with the fine side. Followed by about 45 seconds with 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Wile I was at it though, I also sharpened the spine. Nice and squared off now. I like this one. Down to $19.95 now. Well worth it. I like my regular 110s, but this is a good carry knife. I don't even notice it on my belt. Oh, and if mine has any blade play, I sure don't feel it.
@moneystewart5257
@moneystewart5257 5 лет назад
Glad you pointed out that little bump on the back of the spin ,,it would not be a problem for me, it look cool with the thumb stud you added especially with that color.

I had a 110 when I was nine , is the greatest thing in my life. And I think this lightweight version is a fantastic idea the only thing is I was found the clipped point to be slightly dangerous and slightly impractical when spreading butter or other camp duties , that point just goes into anything , if you drop it you better watch your foot particularly the original models.
@SmilingGator96
@SmilingGator96 6 лет назад
I would personally carry the original 110 with me. This would make a great car or bag knife though. Just throw it in the glove box or a bag until you need it or forget your standard carry.

Brian Knife _ review 626 I think those were just a limited run. 25 years ago is a lifetime in the knife world. Back in those days a knife had to have classical materials, like a wood or leather handle, and had to feel rugged in the hand. Today's market is better for this version.

Was very excited about this model but I'm not sure the faults are justified even given the price point. I'm leaning toward no, especially with competition like the Ka-Bar Dozier and Byrd Cara Cara 2. Buck's Bantam BHW is likely a better option

Didnt mean this Knive in particular, but most knives are way more expensive in the EU. Only few have the same price, just talking about pocket knives. Something really nice - for example? What would be really nice for you?
@rodrigoteresa7944
@rodrigoteresa7944 6 лет назад
Blauer Teppich I'm guessing you are from Germany or Austria from your name (sorry if I'm wrong). But if you are I would go for a nice small fixed blade like a small Bradford Guardian or a Patriot Manly. That way it is one handed opening and "locks", but remains legal (in Germany). Austria has much looser laws, and so I would recommend a Spyderco Manix 2 in G10.
@PLBW81
@PLBW81 6 лет назад
you are right - Austria. But that was kind of my point the Manix 2 in G10 S110V is about 167,75 - the cutjack from Steel in D2 is 44,90. Spyderco is overpriced in the EU.

I have a note for those who have bought or thinking of buying the Buck 110LT! This knife is made of 1 piece glass impregnated nylon molded around the blade and lock back locker. It is incredibly STRONG material VERY durable stuff better in fact than the old original 110. And the wobble in the knife is ok, it doesn’t affect the durability whatsoever of the knife! I give it *****!

The Victorinox Adventurer is the same size and weight as the Buck, also has a locking blade, but adds three drivers, a reamer, tweezers and a toothpick. The blade is not as robust as my trusty Bucklite, which was the predecessor to the current offering. But it is an alternative in the lightweight, locking blade genre. The Bucklite from the days of old also has that "hump" you speak of on the lockup interfaces.

A "Workin' Man's" knife for sure. Cheap, classic blade. But, without a pocket clip, it will not sell as well. By the way, the burr you talked about is discussed in several youtube vids. I think like you said, it looks a little "jankey". (not familiar with that word) They sell for over $32.00 on Amazon already. BladeHq is out.

I don't understand why Buck don't make a 110 with the same solid structure, but with lighter materials, say aluminum instead of brass, for example. A knife with a plastic structure and blade play is not much better than any cheap Chinese pocket knife that can be had for 5 bucks or less. Yes, the steel is of superior quality, but what good is that with a poor handle, especially in a folder, where you cannot easily improve that aspect on your own?

How has it held up after 4 years. Also when it was brand new did it had that blade play or did it develop it by the time of the review. And has it gotten noticeably worse. Thinking about buying it but worried if it will fail fast.

Ages ago, I picked up a Buck BBW. Slightly smaller than the 110 that I carried on my duty belt. The hollow ground 420 blade is like a razor and it is US made. Evenually, the BBW was displaced by a Kershaw Drone for heavy duty work, and a Kershaw Skyline for EDC. The BBW is still in my rotation for when I want a large(ish) folder for light duty.

Personally I think Buck missed the mark.... they have done these before... they even did them in Paperstone... which looked awesome... blade play was excessive in my opinion... I have a synthetic handled W.R.Case Caliber with a clip point blade... great little knife... feather weight... and that knife has zero play... built the same way ... now Case also has 2 others similar to that Buck ... still in production.. I have not owned one (yet) but I am guessing the fit and finish will be better. maybe you should do a comparison to them... they also (meaning Case) have an x-changer blade knife... with a zytel handle... and it has a saw blade and many others... just a thought
@MJFallout
@MJFallout 6 лет назад
Yeah, my paperstone 110 had substantial blade play as well. A shame, because it was otherwise really nice. I had the green one and really liked the material. But alas, sold it on, that amount of blade play was a no-no for me.

Yeah... I didn't have the 110, but the 112 (Ranger), I ended up trading it in to buy a Benchmade 940. I did love the knife.. the handles looked and felt awesome. I don't mind a little blade play... but I think that it was excessive. What sucks is I have a small W.R. Case zytel lockback and there is Zero blade play in it, I also have a Gerber LST with zero blade play... so there is just no reason... Buck should make a few models with Torx screws
@norby0418
@norby0418 6 лет назад
Case, Gerber and Spyderco have made Zytel handled knives for years without excess blade play. I would not accept it from Buck. Although the way he flips out the blade may not be helping things.
