This song is one of my all-time favorites. The quality in that production is underrated, man it's so smooth. And, those flows are everything they should be with that music. If released six months earlier than it's original release, I believe this album would have went higher on the charts. The whole album is a banger.
Listened to this on repeat long ago on 7/8/94 after being initiated into a gang that lead to 22 years in prison. Released 7/8/16 and this song brings so much heartache and bad memories of one night and one choice. Too bad some of us learn the hard way and some dont get a chance to learn at all cause they die . Hebrews 9:27 " It is appointed to man once to die and then the judgment "
This Gangster mentality BS...smdh. if a family has this as their Legacy I weep for the ignorance of Blaming Uncle Sam. we all have a heart and Brain. ..and 2 paths to a Chose Good or Evil. choose well.
For anyone wondering the opening sample is from the movie Against the Wall about the Attica prison uprising. You can find the sample at about 2:29 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xElBFfawhuA.html

The acoustic guitar on this song is really nice. I’m trying to learn it by ear and having a hard time because it’s got such a unique touch. Does anyone know who the guitarist is?

Is it just me or when I was hearing this in ,1993- 1994 this group is speaking the truth of police violence even before George Floyd. You had Rodney King and those riots. But this group were the pink Floyd of they're genre. Pink Floyd knew that shit like this was going to happen in the future. And this is a band that sung in late 1960s and 70s. And Above the law just did it perfectly and did this in my mind a beautiful look at how America fucks over the black man. Above the Law knew or had to of known that shit is only gonna get worse. Pink Floyd knew it to that shit is gonna get worse for the less unfortunate too. But than you have Marvin Gaye with seeing that the world is screwing itself with mercy me and what the hell is going on. Lol. With the song What's going on in the late 60s early 70s. What I'm saying is this, when this album came out it should of opened people's eyes with what the hell is going on. Back in the 90s instead of waiting until a black man has to be suffocated by another person that is supposed to protect the common man and woman and child. Things have not changed up in the twin cities Minnesota. It's still shit. To me it's gone. Minneapolis St Paul it's gone. I hope that one day it can come back. Otherwise I don't even want to go back to the zoo now a days as it is. There's nothing but hatred. It ain't a place I say yeah let's go to the twin cities. I grew up in there and back in the days you wouldn't see what the hell I've seen lately there. I hate to do this and say this but fuck no would I ever live in either Minneapolis or God for bid Saint Paul. I was homeless there for a few months and it was fucking horrible. Yeah go to Union Gospel mission that's a good place id hear from people. Fucking yeah right. I hated that place from the beginning. Drug dealers left and right. You wanna take a shower. It's cold as shit. Clothes you only get everyday, but you better come back otherwise you're fucked. Don't ever become homeless it fucking sucks. It is not a fun ride you want to take.Peace to everyone no matter they're circumstances.
